I'm so glad someone found your video and shared it with me. I was the event lead for that event. The coach in the video did speak with him and was promised that he would behave better. I spoke with him as he went out for his last session and was again reassured that he would behave better. After he did not behave better, and he gave us attitude for that, he was asked to leave. He has been marked in our system for all event leads to know what sort of behavior to expect and to make appropriate decisions about if he will be running with them or not. I can assure you that he will never run at an event where I am the lead. The same can be said for the usual lead at Pocono. There has been a shift in participant behavior at Pocono this year that we are working to get ahead of. We don't know who is encouraging disrespectful people to come to our events, but we are weeding them out as quickly as we can. If anyone sees an issue at an event that I am at, please bring it directly to my attention so I can address it immediately.

One thing about mid engine car is that, once you trail break enough and point the car's nose at the right direction. The car would just hook and go. However you could see that the c8 corvettes body weight transfer was absolutely shit, car would dip forward and backward. Hence reducing the tires' grip.

But that C8 driver IS in fact a novice driver. He has no idea what a racing line is, and being a C8 he should be MUCH faster in the corners than this. He's just at a really low skill level. I think we could all drive just like him as 16 year olds with provisional licenses. I would present this video to the staff and have him demoted to novice for all future events.

If I was presented this video I would honestly demote the OP. He is flooring it in any corner to get as close as possible to the C8's bumper Ignores all point by's even when bending the rule to go around would be the safer choice. and not confuse the C8 guy as to why the driver behind is ignoring hand signals. The BRZ guy is not here to improve his driver skill, this is just a video full of bullying. Track Rats tend to do this and over blow everything like a motorcycle vlogger.

The skill doesn’t matter to be honest, trackday is for anyone to have fun. It’s the god damn rule and courtesy. He is fast on straight line but any trackday would first make fun example of a GTR: no matter what you drive, if that Miata is faster than you (in corners), slow down on the passing by zone to let them pass - even if you can dump them on that straight line. This is like, the most announced and simple rule a 3 year old can understand. It has nothing to do with skill. They have a really big problem understanding people. I guess they need special treatment in life for their mental disadvantage.

I would caution to not stray too far from the context of the event under discussion. It’s a HPDE and the metric is not lap times or how much risk a person takes. Faster lap times are primarily an output of proper technique and experience, and less so risk taken. For HPDE’s, the metrics are closer to amount of event protocol and technique information absorbed, demonstrating execution consistency, predictability, and hopefully exhibiting progression in those metrics by end of event.

Having completed my first HPDE last week in a C5 Z06, and being an old man too, that C8 driver was not instructed properly, or ignored instructions, a C8 driving this way puts everyone at risk in the track. I had 4 instructors ride with me during the four 20 minute sessions and it was great…I let everyone close to me by (I let off the accelerator and signaled them by) and gave them space too, so I would NOT ride them on the straights. The last session was with the Novice class (I don’t know why I was with the intermediate before) and I showed the slower drivers respect as well and only passed them in the dedicated passing area, and I didn’t ride their tails. Super fun HPDE and autocross too! Both need smooth inputs of all the instruments. ❤❤❤

I’ve posted a lot of examples like this too. It is sooo annoying. Another one is when you get a point to pass and they don’t let off the gas so you can get by. The often get mad because they don’t think you are trying. Well just because my car has less HP doesn’t mean I am not lapping the track faster. You know fast Miata drivers must live this nightmare often. Anyway after a lap I usually go into hot pit, report them, then when I am back on track I’m far enough away from them. But - sometimes I catch back up and have to do it all again. Anyway I like posting ooops that I witness or participate in. It is entertaining (when no damage) and often can be viewed by others as learning examples of what not to do. Keep safe out there!

Here in Australia you can't get a miata from any generation for less than $20k, even a rolling mx5 shell is $15k+. Whereas you can find boosted/already track spec 2018 BRZ's for a similar price.

Feels like there's always at least one at any given track day. Even in the Advanced class, there's always someone who thought they should be there because they have a fast car, not because they actually know how to drive it quickly. But because I've shifted focus from getting the fastest laptimes to finding faster drivers to follow, I'm a lot less bothered by it than I used to be. Tbh stock non power mods on a GTR can be pretty difficult for a new driver because the car is harder to rotate and will understeer a lot. If your at a track that has many turns with a novice driver, I am not surprised. Most r35 owners I know who track their car are typically keeping their power mods stock or fbo. You won't see many built GTR on the track. 700+hp requires new turbos and prob built engine is ideal if your running it on the track. There's a lot of issues with cooling that needs mods for and the stock suspension isn't as great which is where most people dump their money into if their into track from my experience. Not only that if they are a novice driver, most of the community recommends GTR owners to run lower boost on track days to not overheat the car, allowing longer runs as well. Not that much power is needed for noob driver. Without a dct cooler you pretty much can do like 3-4 laps before needing to cool down Also I am very surprised someone will bring their GTR to Hennessey in 2023. They are reputable for lying and I'm sure they are saying 700 to the crank not the wheel. Likely a FBO gtr

Even with stock "Primacy HPs" the control you had over your scrub angle in the corners, how readily it communicats understeer and how patient it is as long as you patient with it. I did a good job of keeping up with (ironically!) a historic AE86 Corolla that was a full track day build on slicks.
