For rent a bike, is it necessary to have an OV-Chip card? And to buy a 2 day's ticket in Amsterdam or single tickets for trains? Is it necessary to have it?

Great Video! Thanks for uploading this! Planning a visit to Amsterdam next month. So can I just travel on all trams, buses, metro and inter-city trains all over the Netherlands with just my contactless visa card alone? There's no longer need to buy train or bus tickets in advance but just walk-in and walk out of the stations with my visa card? And that means there is no need for those ticketing APPs like NS, 9292, Glimble unless just for checking the schedules? Is my understanding correct? THANKS.

Thank you so much for watching and your nice comment! And that’s correct, you can just use your visa card for all the transportation methods. No need to buy a ticket in advance. And yes, apps like 9292 and NS, are not necessary but I would recommend it, especially 9292. It’s very handy for the schedules. Great travels to Amsterdam!!

Are you able to buy the OV Chip kaart if you don't have a Dutch bank account or address in order to make use of the 40 per cent discounts?

Hi! If you have an IBAN, then it should be possible. This is what I found on their website: www.ov-chipkaart.nl/en/apply-for-personal-ov-chipcard

Hi! How is the cost of the joinery on GVB trams calculated when using contactless visa card? It based on distance? Or is there is fixed price? Thank you!

There is a start fee + a distance fee. If you change to a different line there is no second start fee.

Hi next week i will be go amsterdam for 4 days & i want to use public transport. I have plan to visit Keukenhof tulip garden, Geithon village & near Amsterdam visiting place.which ticket i buy???

Hi there! There are buses from Amsterdam to Keukenhof with more ticket info here: keukenhof.nl/en/ov/ For Giethoorn, the NS train is your best bet. You can easily pay with a bank or credit card. The 9292 app is handy for planning the trip, and there are also tours from Amsterdam to Giethoorn if you prefer. Around Amsterdam, using your bank or credit card is usually fine. If you’re planning to use public transport a lot, consider getting a GVB city card for 9€, which gives you 24 hours of use. If you’re also into visiting museums and attractions in Amsterdam, the Amsterdam city card could be a good fit. Hope you have a great visit!
