Great Review. You really covered all bases when it comes to this pedal. I own it myself and I thank you for the tonal inspiration I got here! Cheers! Another thing I like, is that you mix lead and rhythm playing fluently. Some gear reviews make it seem that guitar players only play lead guitar! Let's ask our band members to see if that's really the case ;-) Looking forward to more !

Great Video! I own the pedal and I love it. The only 2 things I wish could be modified is the overall volume is lower than my other pedals so, I have to use a boost to get the volume the same. And, I wish they would add the option to be able to have the gain and blend stages different per channel. I like using it with a blend at about 10 to 11 o'clock with low gain to add some nice texture to my cleans and distorted amp. But, if I want to switch to the fuzz with no blend I will have to set it manually before switching :/.

As a former owner of the jelly, these criticisms are accurate. Not enough volume on tap and the singular dry, ‘honey’, and volume knobs removes versatility. Incredible sounds, but it’s a crowded market and those things hold the pedal back.

@@alexwalker5645 I have not but I hear good things. Since my original comment I bought another royal jelly and the volume issue was fixed. If you want to give it a try, I recommend purchasing ones made within the last year or so.

This is the best video I've seen for this pedal, I'm struggling to find THE fuzz pedal, this one might be the one , that buzz sound is gross in the best kind of ways

This pedal has intrigued me since it came out. It sounds really great, and has a ton of really original features; however, I’m not sold on tying my Overdrive and Fuzz together? I would have to really play with this pedal for a while, but it feels like the shared EQ and “honey” would be a deal breaker? I often want my Fuzz to have a different amount of gain, and tone than my Overdrive. I also have yet seen a demo that explores how the guitar’s volume and tone controls effects the tone? I know there’s a lot to get through with this pedal, so it’s understandable that reviewers can’t go into everything. I would still love to try one! I would love to see how it reacts with my 5e3 clone? As cool as this pedal is, it’s hard to see as a good fit for me?

I think you hit the nail on the head here. It's impossible for any demo to really tell you if a pedal is a good fit for you, but hopefully you can make a more informed decision when buying. I would agree that the shared EQ and volume is a bit of a limitation with this pedal but there weren't too many occasions when I missed separate controls. I really see this pedal as the ultimate tool for a rhythm guitar player, I think the tones really lend themselves to that sort of playing and hard riffs. As far as using it with a 5e3... I have no way of knowing but I'd bet it'd sound killer.

how do you like this vs the Thorpy Warthog, another pedal that combines overdrive and fuzz?

The Warthog is actually the only Thorpy pedal I haven't tried! I'd love to though. My understanding is that the Warthog is sort of a high gain overdrive that gets into fuzzy territories. While the Royal Jelly is a blend of the two circuits. Slightly different approach to a similar outcome I suppose.

I would like to hear the pedal going direct into the amp with nothing else in-between...the raw pedal sound on its own. Cheers. Good review. BTW, I have just ordered this pedal, so I will find out for myself how it sounds without all the paraphernalia. 🤣😂😅😵‍💫
