I did instacart yesterday, I usually only do one order a day cause none are good enough, the one I did yesterday was a single order for $50 and only 20 or so items, I try to get ones with very low items and high pay and low miles, the miles I think were like idk 15 miles, DURING this order, I got another to combine this one! (Never had that before) but it was 4 items, for an extra $11 bucks and the items were too easy to pass up, and 5 minutes from the initial drop off, so I made $61 in less than an hour and a half, the ride was 20-25 minutes total, THOSE are the orders I do, I ignore all else and do food delivery

What I've noticed here in Frisco, TX is that the miles shown are only the miles from the store to the customer, not the miles to the store. So I can get a Kroger order that shows $15.76 for 5.5 miles, and it'd look amazing, until I realize that the Kroger is over 10 miles away.

I just started instacart and noticed this today. They were saying like 0.7 miles, and that must have been just the delivery distance from the store because from where I was to the store was like 7 miles away

I actually worked at Walmart as a online shopper (OGP) and I have to tell ya, you have to be fast. I was slow as hell but they didn't care since I only worked weekends. I couldn't imagine doing this as a side hustle! Finding things even as a Walmart shopper was a pain because some things weren't there! Plus this guy is shopping AND delivering it! LOL

I just joined instacart and I did my first load yesterday and it was a nightmare. Dollar tree products are scattered all over the place you would think they would have them all in one area and a lot of the products would not scan and other things and I was there for over an hour and I just threw in the towel and canceled the order. It was one of those shop and deliver orders

Smith's is the worst you cannot get service in their store. It reminds me of going into Mexico and they cut all cell service I think they do some kind of block so you cannot clip coupons while you're shopping

I’ve noticed many instacart orders where they double up so you get 2-3 order for 12 bucks and sometimes the milage is over 10 miles which is ridiculous for a 4 dollar average

Just FYI a lot of supermarkets have free wifi. We have one here that is thick brick and when your by the back area signals go dead so I just connect to their free wifi

2:10 happened to me at this one store, cellphone reception was like minus three bars it was so bad however i didnt think of using the available store wi-fi until hours later but then the store was also closing within 30 minutes of my arrival and it was between 50 to 60 units.

I do it for the lesser miles to higher dollar ratio. It may take me a little longer but I'm putting way less miles on my car. My weekend days I have to myself, my husband works nights and sleeps during the day. I do DD in the evenings for 2 hours or less on the weekends and usually a Thurs night too. I am averaging $ 300 to $450 a weekend.

Instacart is my favorite due to the mileage and being able to pick your orders since DoorDash loves to give out assignments that are out of zone with no tip and or a not safe area. Yeah it's all about speed and knowing the store knowing the products especially if the app is often wrong on location for that specific store. Even if it's not a store you frequent at like that specific location the brand might be a good idea to familiarize with like Walmart's probably the best cuz they label every single aisle & sub aisle. The worst is probably Aldi We just sad because I absolutely love that store but to shop for it's terrible

Blake's comment that he had bad reception within the store caught my ear because I had just had a fellow doordasher doing a grocery shop tell me that he had poor reception in a store where I've never had a problem. Maybe it's the phone service?

why do instacart shopper give us 1 star rating even though we resolve all of your issues, if you give us 1 star rating then we have to bounce back 6 more 4 or 5 star rating. It's hard you know.

Are you a support agent? Most times it's not even you're fault. It asks us how our support was and names you. It gives a general statement. So in my experience i listed 1 star because of the 20 minutes I wasted with the robot just trying to find out how to get real help with a support agent.

What I'd do is For orders that are 20-50 items of small or medium is divide the cart and bring a marker to mark the Bags with the initials of the Persons and go into self checkout out

Yes I have had that happen where there’s no signal always ask customer service if they have a customer WiFi available, that solves that issue.

In my market area, Dollar General is everywhere. They are not all laid out the same but department areas are easy to find. Those stores multiply like rabbits here. I go shopping at them as along as there are only 5 or 6 items to pickup. Anything more is to much. I made the mistake of accepting the run to a Big Lots. NEVER AGAIN!!! 7 items on the list. I was totally lost in the store. The store had no organized lay out. one item was a scented candle. I found a shelf in the home decor section with candles. It wasn't there. 10 feet away in another direction was another candle shelf. Looked there, nothing. every 30 feet was a shelf with scented candles. Even in the grocery section, a shelf of scented candles. I thought about asking one of the two workers on the floor but realized they wouldn't have a clue as well. I mean, who can keep track of where things are in that type of layout? Also, I had no idea where to look for the other seasonal items so I just unassigned. The first unassigned run for me. I felt horrible and humiliated. Doordash only gave me 15 minutes to find everything. I walked out at 12. I'm sure I could have found those item after 3 hours, but I didn't have the time to spare.

I just spent like an hour in Target looking for a specific brand and flavor of freaking candy canes. 4 days before Christmas. That store looks like a tornado went through it 😂 I was ready to go home and that order was bringing me close to home, but the second I stepped into the store I knew I had made a grave mistake... Hahaha. For some reason I was in a chill mood though, so I just started laughing and was like heck, I'm only in it for the adventure now, I wonder how long this will take? Aisle after aisle I was completely fascinated by the utter chaos everywhere. Just like your candles, every time I thought it has to be here. Nope. Eventually I started thinking about how the store was going to close in lo6ke the next hour anyway, so I guess I'd be out of luck and my misery by then at least. Lmaooo. I dunno how on earth but I finally stumbled across the right candy canes and actually found the other two things they wanted too and finished the order. I've obviously took a major wrong turn in my life, Omg

Oh man! Those dead zones are a killer! They can make alcohol orders very awkward. “Do you mind if I borrow your driver’s license, and go to an area where I get cell reception? I’ll be right back, I promise!”…..normally alcohol deliveries are routine, but if I see any of those destinations in the known dead zones in my market, FULL decline! it could be a $45 offer, I’ll pass on it just to avoid the no signal problems

Yup gotta know the area drop off groceries if you not familiar the area and the customer have alcohol always ask if their area have service cell if not just ask support to remove the batch avoid headaches and wasting time

Double orders are only worth it if each house is within 5-8 miles from each other MAX. Instacart takes the big discount by not having to pay 2 different shoppers full which kinda sucks. It’s even worse when they have promotions like “3$ extra per batch” because they don’t double up on that promotion for a double batch

I've done few shop and pay orders. Every time I run into a problem. I've had the Door Dash red card not accepted, the store's registers crap out, always items out of stock, items not where the app says they should be. Getting produce really pissed me off. The app wants you to scan a barcode. There's no barcode on oranges. Have to stop shopping and contact support for get the fruits and veggies scanned in.

Doing Spark shop orders I had just really learned where everything was in my store when they decided to remodel and move EVERYTHING! Now I'm struggling to learn the new layout. They did recently update the app with more details to help you find the right item, but still annoying.

Man they lowered the base pay to 5.10 it used to be 8 dollars 🙄. I'm approved to drive with spark but there's so many people in my market that advised against it I just never even accepted. i just started on instacart and ive done about 10 orders. Just did one yesterday and the customer added more stuff to the order that took me an additional 15 minutes and instacart only added 2.50. i wasnt happy about that and when they order meat products that ask for a weight and there are 4 or 5 items that adds even more time. after it was all dont im made 18 dollars for 1 and 1/2 hours on that order since i had to drive 10 miles. maybe i need to be more picky

for meat products get the highest weight because tips are based on percentage of order total. bigger weight meat = higher total = higher tip

Just joined today and I'm not even sure it a good app to do orders they are not even putting right miles. I caught this today was sending me to a grocery store that was 7miles from my location and the app said the mile was only 0.7 miles so I'm guessing was only showing the delivery miles and not the total miles from going to the store and doing the delivery. So how do you really know if it's good order or not

With the connection issue sign in to the store's Wi-Fi. If they don't have free Wi-Fi I would cancel those orders and go on to the next one.

If you have a signal issue at a store usually most of the time the stores have public Wi-Fi you can connect to and finish shopping, this is my resolution to the problem! Like if this helped!

First order no because it was 23 items 36 units which sucks second yes because it’s 2.00 a mile and 2.00 a mile and if it takes him an hour to do the second (from accepting to accepting the next order) it’s decent. My time is 15.00 minimum with IC 1.00 per item 2.00 per mile. Remember it’s not over until you accept your next order.

Deduct the gas for 8 and 1/2 * 2 + 5 mi to the store * 2 and back at the end of the day that is $12 an hour for an hour and a half that is an hour that's what the algorithm is set to $8 an hour after gas

Instacart is not the best gig app but it’s far from the worst. This was user error. He should’ve shopped at a store he knows if he’s a super rusty shopper. All the batches he took wasn’t good at all.

@@YourDriverMike yes! It’s a great benefit I do Instacart along with all the other major gig apps here in the SF Bay Area market. Usually its a minimum of $20/hr + tips. In Blake’s case it took him about 3 hours plus $30 in tip It would’ve been about $85-90 with all the adjustments. Like you say Instacart it comes down to knowing store and location. Pick 2/3 stores and get familiar with it

@@YourDriverMike Not the original commenter, but also a gig worker in CA (San Diego specifically) and I LOVE it! 20% above your local county's minimum wage + $.30/mi from current location to store = guaranteed minimum, which doesn't include tips. Since IC is heavily reliant on tips, especially for those Costco orders, I can be making $35+/hr on it because those tips sweeten the deal on top of a huge adjustment pay

His number 1 mistake ,spending time finding the item. I have been doing Instacart for about 6 months, I go to where the item is located or if I know the vicinity of it I check if it’s not there I immediately ask a store associate so I am not wasting anytime. You have to develops a routine around the store, shop produce last it will save you time. Also the sodas or waters grab last which makes the cart not as heavy to push around and also PAY ATTENTION to the # of customers and which customer gets what. I have a 5.0 diamond rating and going on 900 deliveries. I pride myself in helping the customer anyway I can.
