Hi Coach D, great video. I think the RPO is awesome, I can't wait to use it in our practice.

Hey Coach, love all the content you provide. A team in our league implemented this type of play and are dropping 40-50 points on everyone. An suggestions on how best to defend RPO's? 5x5 flag football league. Thanks again for all you do!

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oK6FrJdlzpe0n5s.html I like the Husker formation I mention in this video. It keeps them guessing as much as they are trying to get your guessing. Pinpoint their top player (usually the RB getting the ball) and shut down their dominant side. Make them go to their weak side so if they throw it is not natural. Have your solid flag pullers on the line upfront guarding the run and your strong, faster cover safeties in the back. Does that all make sense?

Coach D. I just purchased the 10 wrist band plays/8 offensive play option and I love it. Question: In RPO can the original QB who received the hike but then hands the ball to the player who will run or pass the ball become a receiver?
@CoachD
@CoachD 4 ай бұрын
Yes. Once the player who received the hike hands the ball off they can become a receiver for sure. Feel free to ask other questions.

Awesome! I didn’t see it on plays 4, 7 and 8, but I’ll expand on that with the kids. And THANK YOU for your help and quick response!

Hey coach! I have a game this coming weekend where I am going to have really bad matchup issues. What tips do you have for me? Lol

I would go after the QB using the Husker formation where he/she doesn't know where the rush is coming from - cut off their strong side. Identify their top player and shut them down with a strong zone coverage and do the basics (no one behind you, breakdown, and yell "ball, ball, ball" to rush the ball as a team). Talk about being a united force NO MATTER what happens. If you can make a few big plays and keep them guessing, you'll get the momentum needed to shake them. Have fun and be safe - find out more about the Husker here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oK6FrJdlzpe0n5s.html - NO FEAR - ONE UNIT! Get some!! I love the ball, ball, ball concept and we’ve used it multiple times ineffectively due to mouthguards. These are 1/2 grade and 5/6 and my younger is more advanced than my older. Any suggestions? Also love and used the Husker ineffectively due to player inexperience in my 5/6. And big teddy bears. They could all be linebackers in college and while their size could be intimidating they are the most reserved, quiet and sensitive kids. One kid twice the height and 3x the weight of the receiver, tipped it but backed off because he didn’t want to hurt the receiver. They scored. They are not quick and not aware. I’m trying everything. I know what you have works but 5 practices and two games later they a still are lost when lining up on defense and haven’t grasped line of scrimmage. What can I do? Total disclaimer, I’ve worked more on planning and research and simplifying (my 1st time coaching) than in my day job these last two weeks.

Robbie - I didn’t see that you have the Complete Coach Package - that tells you exactly what to do at each practice, it breaks down my drills, it has the plays for that age group and even shows my defense formations. It’s everything I do: www.flagfootballwithcoachd.com/products/coach-ds-complete-coach-package-playbooks-drill-packs I’d also recommend watching this again to learn about new players and how to help it stick for them: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n8-XgKR4qp7WmWw.html I would scrimmage and get parents or coaches involved in the scrimmage and then coach in the moment to help things stick. I would put out a bunch of cones as the line of scrimmage than have cones for each position on D and number the positions. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. then by the time the game hits they know if you say go to 3 or you’re in position 5, they know where they should go on the field. For toughness and competition, play 5 hundred and do 5 pushups every time your timid players catch the ball. Continue to simplify and make it fun. Make it super clear they should be on the field and what their exact job is and then celebrate the heck out of them when they do and be there to coach and run it again right if they miss the mark. You’re close and they can see that. You’ll get it - and in the meantime, you’re making an impact whether you know it or not.

Youth Flag Football Tutorial | Defense formations That Work | Age-Based | Strategy | Tips | Coach kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdl5acZk2Mq0cas.html I like containment, meaning if you can rush, you force the QB to their weak side with a rusher, then if they take off, you have your LBs upfront stay home and attack the ball if the QB crosses the line of scrimmage. Your safeties/CBs keep the WRs in front of them, so you don’t give up a big play in case the QB decides the throw. The Husker works great. 2-3, 2-3-1, 2-3-2 for 5v5, 6v6, and 7v7.

Can I get 10 and 11 years old players to play a zone on defense
@CoachD

Yes absolutely. You’ll be surprised at what you can get them to do at that age. I’ve done with younger kids. Check out this video for more details: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oK6FrJdlzpe0n5s.html
