The Arendal instruction manual humor reminds me of my car audio days when I purchased my Audiocontrol EQX. They printed little jokes throughout the manual and on the box such as "Do not deep fry or sautee". I REALLY appreciate the round magnetic grill, beveled edges, amp display, 7 band EQ. It appears that they make a fine product...a lot to like here. The future phone app will be a huge bonus as well. Thanks for the review on these Youthman!

Hey Youthman, I have two SB1000s and an emotiva XPA 11 that will all be in front of my room and on the same circuit. They each have there own outlets but still on same 20amp circuit. Do I need to dedicate the subs with an additional plug on its own circuit? or both subs on a circuit so the Emotiva/Processor/DVD player/and everything else has their own circuit?

I too wish YM had the tv2112 instead of the sealed dual 18"(or both). Apples and oranges....a comparison would've been helpful. I am looking forward to a total transformation of what I experience. Not just hear...experience. the TR of that 21" driver is going to be great!

@wadimek116

there are many disadvantages. Fist is cost of 2 drivers. Second, depending if both drivers are in phase or against we will get different benefits and disadvantages. I don't really see a point in commercial running dual drivers in phase in such small enclosure so Its probably isobaric. The advantage is deeper extension but not increased spl by much in normal range. Still more affordable is buying dual lower class subs. If you can buy those at pair then you can buy big ported sub which will crash it in subbass extension. Those are nice subs if we want some deeper extension at quite small size. What we lose is potential bang for buck or higher spl with bigger box and driver.

Moved from a 7 channel klipsch RP system to an arendal system back in March. Been so Happy with the move. The build quality is fantastic and I can’t say enough about their dynamics and control. Definitely worth a look for people in the States. I had to pay customs on some of my orders and some I didn’t but I still think a solid value even with the extra fee. I also prefer the more neutral tone but that may just be preference

Watched this one before - and dont know why I thought back then that you ran it vented mode. Now I can see foam is inserted in the back - menu states sealed and you mention 17 hz as bottom freq. 15 hz is eq 1 vented mode and 17 hz eq 1 is sealed mode. So you reached 10 hz 100 db in sealed mode ? Amazing ! This sub is is for the Europe people - you will have import tax on this one - same as we get when we buy a US sub. Could be my next sub - was looking at PSA tv 2112 but that price sky rockets for me in Denmark. Thank you so much for this review ! 👍. Btw does this sub hold the THX certification as the rest of the 1723 series speakers ?

Hi Michael! So regarding the stacking of subs yielding +3dB, I have a SVS PB3000 and thinking of adding one more. My theatre 's dimensions are fairly close to yours. I was considering placing the new PB3000 in the rear of the room, behind the main seating. Would you, instead, stack them or go with the front/rear scenario? Additionally, dies the +3dB apply to having two (2) subs regardless of placement in the room or only when stacked? Thanks! ~Mike
@Youthman
@Youthman 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I recommend using REW and a calibrated mic to find out where the best sub placement in your room is. Arendal mentions stacking as it’s easier to setup but you do lose the benefit of better seat to seat response if you have multiple seating in your room

@Youthman
@Youthman 3 жыл бұрын
Unless the sub includes a foam insert from the manufacturer, I would not seal it. Typically those that do include inserts provide DSP settings to tell the sub the port has been closed. You will lose overall output with a sealed sub so unless you have multiple 18” subs that are sealed (like I do in my setup), you probably will not like the result.

The graph you showed, is that taken after you took our the EQ you have in minidsp for your actual subs? Ported subs don't extend beyond their port so wondering it could extend that far out. Also stacking subs is not a good idea. It kills the purpose of having multiple subs which is to spread them around so that they can help each other out to fill the gaps. Double only gives you more output but doesn't fix any room issues.

@@Youthman Easy, where is the energy or power coming from to have a gain of 3db when you double the cone area?
