I have received a lot of copyright claims. A 1/3 of the videos on my channel are copyright claimed. It sucks because I'm actually creating content around the clips I use. It's not like I'm just re-uploading music videos.

Artist here! Got a copyright strike the other day since I had music in the background playing. It was copyright free music but apparently it’s only licensed for twitch livestreams and not KZfaq. I got striked for “spam/deceptive practices” which REALLY sucks. I’ve decided to completely leave music out of everything now because I really want to monetize my art. Really really hoping my monetization isn’t affected by this down the line. It’s frustrating how something like this gets a strike and yet there are THOUSANDS of videos out there of full length movies, tv shows and cartoons that pass by without a problem. Seems SUPER unfair

One of the issues with some of the "copyright claims" is that there are bot-sniffers that sniff out this data. At least when it comes to music. I can understand why, but to make a claim a human should have control of that, not a bot. Bots can flag. Humans can check, then claim. My church uploads the services on Sunday (the service is livestreamed on Facebook during the regular-church service time, and then uploaded to KZfaq afterwards for those that couldn't watch it live), and A LOT of the hymns are public domain, a lot of the tunes are public domain; the music used when we were not able to meet falls under the license my church has for this content (with some hymns as exceptions, but none of those exceptions have been used); when we were still able to meet in person: the organist is live-playing the music. The videos would still get copyright claims within seconds of the upload being completed and/or processed (I can't remember which). The only way someone could possibly do that is if their sitting there staring at a screen waiting for a "copyright breach." Which leads me to believe that it's not a real person: it is a bot. Regardless of the copyright claims, my church has a license to use the content (as mentioned above). It's "hilarious" when the "copyright owner" tries to argue back and say that "they still feel like it's their content." It's also hilarious when they try to claim that a portion of the video is "violating copyright" when there's another portion earlier in the video (or later) that uses that same hymn. It's "hilarious" that they try to make a claim on a hymn that doesn't even go by the name they claim.... It's also "hilarious" that they're trying to claim public domain content in the first place. Also keep in mind: some of the hymns, tunes, etc. are over 200 years old.... [Side note: I know about these claims because my father is the Pastor, and is the one that is running the KZfaq channel for the church, etc.]

I agree, it happens in our church, few videos copyrighted, it was in a church service but it was copyrighted. I didn't remove the video. Well, it's their revenue even though it is for church service purposes only.

@@ehanayaanrocks - From what I understand a copyright claim cannot take someones channel down, but it can result in a copyright strike, depending on the situation. If you google "What is a copyright claim? youtube" there'll be a link in the search results that goes to what youtube provides as an explanation. I don't think I can share links here without the comment being deleted, otherwise I'd share it here. lol
@TheCanadianGamingPenguin
@TheCanadianGamingPenguin Жыл бұрын
@@arnoldmmr - It really depends. I suggested to my father to challenge the copyright claims, in the event that the "person"/company making the claim (whether they had an actual proper legal claim to it or not) decided that they wanted to slap an ad on that portion of the video, or some such that would interrupt the service. I'm not entirely sure if they could do that anymore, anyways. I do remember having a project for university where I put music (that was free to use for certain purposes, such as educational purposes) to the project (it was also PART of the project), and the portion that included the music ended up being copyright claimed, and they slapped an ad on the video. If I remember correctly anyways. lol That was... five? years ago now. It's been a while anyways. lol

i am a small channel. mostly family videos formed my channel. i started uploading re-edited 80's music vids and such, then got copyrighted. eventually, they were unblocked, but this year i made a passion project for the Film The Warriors 1979. i edited clips with voice overs to explain parts of the movie. It got Copyrighted. then they lifted it, then they reblocked and threatened to strike me. i argued fair use and cited 50 Other videos on the film but to no avail. i have three days left to delete it. I know i didn't make the movie and have no rights to it, but im unmonitized, and it's just a tribute video of sorts. its 46 minutes long. What Should i have done to keep my video up?

@bigfellavideography

I've received copyright claims on MUCH older videos on my other channel, but that's because I never wanted to monetise those videos, no matter how well they did, and right now I still can't monetise them cos I'm not in the YPP yet. Those videos did well in the early days but now no one watches them at all. Fun fact: even if you have *EXPRESS PERMISSION* from the copyright holder to use music in a video, there's no guarantee that the video won't have a claim against it due to the "sophisticated" content ID system. I've been down this path before, I know where it leads.

@@GagaTheArcher the videos are fine, they're still on the channel but ineligible for earnings if I'm in the YPP. youtube's way of identifying older audio content on all my previous vids, frankly, should be exempt from their audio recognition system. if it gets through the first time, then I don't believe anyone should be retroactively punished henceforth.

Great video! But what if the "copyright owner" doesn't have a copyright for the material that they're claiming? Is it safe to dispute if the "copyrighted" video is in public domain? TMZ recently copyright claimed a part of my video of the Johnny Depp trial where Kate Moss is giving her testimony. They have absolutely no exclusive rights to any of the trial video but KZfaq has decided that that section belongs to them because they also have a video with Kate Moss giving her testimony. I'm not monetized but I don't want TMZ placing ads and earning revenue from content that they don't own. Is it worth it to dispute a claim? The risk seems pretty high. I doubt KZfaq is going to actually verify if TMZ owns the copyright and are probably just going to allow TMZ to remove my video and issue a strike.

Hi Rob, I have recently applied and was accepted into the KZfaq partnership program even though I have copyright claims on most of my videos. I initially used free music from the Clipchamp editing program. Since then I have been editing on DaVinci Resolve. I have still used the same music as my theme song and background music for over 100 videos. Even though it said copyright on my channel it also said that the owner allowed it to be used. I am now learning that the rights owner of my music is now monetizing and also because I am not using Clipchamp anymore I don’t have the rights to the music either. I am in the process of trimming and muting all of my videos which has been a tedious process. As a new KZfaqr I am disappointed in myself that I didn’t understand the details of how this works. Thanks so much for this video. I am sad that I have to change my theme music for my channel. 😥

I once has a copywrite claim made against me from a youtuber in an unknown country speaking a foreign language. Until recieveing the claim, I'd never heard of or seen them before. Thank you for explaining all of this. So basically: 1. Copyright claims do not negatively affect your channel 2. Copyright strikes affect monetization 3. You get 3 Copyright strikes and your account is terminated 4. For every 50 Copyright claims you get, you get 1 Copyright strike 5. The rightful owner can claim all revenue from your video and put ads in your video (Guys if you do montages and such like I started doing, I highly recommend using Copyright Free music. Always check the description for instructions on how to deal with Copyright on Copyright Free music videos though.) Hope that helped, best of wishes to all you fellow Content Creators!

So I did a video last night of myself sleeping all night. I'm a medically fragile patient, and I wanted to hear my ventilator, to essentially get some sleep data to see if I'm breathing over the machine's given breaths while sleeping. I have a tracheostomy, and use a life support machine to breathe for me. Well in the video, which I had selected as private on KZfaq so I could watch it on KZfaq the next morning for my own personal viewing and mine only, well I still wanted to be able to listen to the audiobooks I like to at night on my Amazon alexa. Well I woke up to the copyright claim. So I just deleted the video I'll do another video for evaluating whether I'm breathing at all over the ventilator at night, I'll do another video, but I just won't be able to listen to the audiobook while I do that. Even the video is private, as I only want to be able to see it. Nobody else. I don't want copyright claims. OK, I know it wasn't a strike, but I don't want to get my KZfaq account suspended. Better yet, I'll have the Dr. put me in the hospital and do the exam for me, even though I wanted to do it for my own data at home. But I regret listening to the audiobook while sleeping, while doing the recording.

There should be no automatic claims at all. Looking at the list of possible copyright infringing videos, most of them are probably not doing anything wrong as far as I now. Probably all of them. If you were an evil guy, you could claim Leonhart's video because he was talking to you and has your logo in the livestream. KZfaq considers that a 100% violation for some reason. I can't find that livestream on your channel, so I don't get how that's considered a 100% copyright violation. We all know that video is fine, but if you had automated claims going on, you'd have falsely claimed him and many other videos too. Do you know what the false claim rate is? Based on that list, it must be pretty high. The benefit of the doubt is definitely not on the KZfaqrs' side.

Hi there! I will tell you the story of how I got copyrighted TWICE! Once upon a time, There was a cringy KZfaqr (me back then) who would make the most goofy ahh videos EVER. One day, I posted a Real Littles (??) mini backpack unboxing video, And it got a copyright warning (Copyright Claim??) And here's how it starts... One time on my old channel I created a cringy unboxing video with I'm assuming COPYRIGHTED MUSIC! And I would literally expose it by saying "OmG tHeReS a BeNdY mUsIc ViDeO pLaYiNg RiGhT nOw!!" And guess what? The copyright thing appeared and I got scared as heck... And I thought that KZfaq was just STUPID??! AND UNFAIR?? That's a bit "childish for a young age." Unfortunately, The next one I'm about to tell you is from TODAY?? I was going to post a compilation video of my Chip Emoji Cartoons... And I forgot about copyright stuff and DID NOT mute the audio, And guess what happened? Got copyrighted AGAIN! And I warned my fans by posting it in my community tab.. And one from today was the original version of my compilation where I didn't mute it and I got copyrighted AGAIN! And I warned everyone about it by posting it in my community tab. Woah, What a rush! And I think I learned my lesson.. DO NOT use copyright music in your videos, And I made a reupload of my compilation video on my channel, And one last thing.. I will now be putting copyright disclaimers in ALL of my compilation videos! And now thank god KZfaq let my reupload pass on... Thanks for reading! ❤

Is there no acceptable way to use part of a copyright claimed song over your original content video? If the notice says it doesn't affect your channel and it says "owner allows use on KZfaq " does it still affect your ability to get approved for monetization on the rest of your channel? (Assuming you don't care about monetization for that particular video). Sometimes there is a song that perfectly fits the narrative in the content and you don't mind giving up the few bucks you might make.

8:03 I've been doing research on how copyright violation works on KZfaq, but this is the first time I've heard this 50 claims rule, and now I'm confused. So if I create 50 videos that have copyright claims on them (ex: anime videos), I get a strike, right? That part is totally understandable, but my real question is that if I wait for 90 days for the strike to expire, can I continue on making 50 more copyright claimed videos, wait 90 more days for the strike to expire, and repeat the process? If this 50 claims rule is automatic, then it means a bot made the strike instead of the actual copyright holders, so that means the copyright holders don't know that I even got a strike?

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: Copyright claims (Content ID claims) are automated notifications to rights holders when their content is used without permission on KZfaq. They don't lead to immediate channel termination but can result in ad revenue being claimed by the rights holder or video restrictions. Copyright claims apply to individual videos and not the entire channel. Mistakes can happen, and false claims can be overturned. Copyright strikes are when a copyright holder requests the removal of a video violating copyright. They can impact the entire channel, restrict monetization, and prevent livestreams for up to 90 days. Three strikes can lead to channel termination. Copyright strikes expire after 90 days, but they apply to the entire channel, not just individual videos. KZfaq uses Content ID to detect copyright infringement. It's a tool for creators to manage copyrighted content, and rights holders can choose to monetize, block, or track videos. Copyright issues can be avoided by only uploading content you own or have permission to use. To resolve copyright claims, you can remove the claimed sections, dispute the claim, or appeal if the claim is rejected. During disputes, ad revenue is held in a neutral account. Copyright strikes are more severe and are issued for copyright violations. They require watching KZfaq's Copyright School and may affect monetization and the channel's future. Copyright strikes don't expire if additional strikes are received within a specific timeframe. When applying for the KZfaq Partner Program, having a copyright strike on your channel may influence the decision of human reviewers. Understanding copyright claims and strikes is crucial for creators to avoid penalties and maintain a safe and legal presence on KZfaq. Made with HARPA AI
