Yeah I know what you mean. Got excited as a kid seeing that particular intro because I knew it was time for Space 1999! A show far ahead of it's time. I loved it.

@@Smenkhaare Because both shows were produced by the same British producer. Then you learned that both were actually taking place in the exact same time period story wise, and it all made sense. 70's memories... I as a writer have been working on an sequel to the series to bring some closure to a very underappreciated show (1999). When I get close to funding (self) it, I will deliberately seek out ITC's participation. I want their classic logo somewhere in the credits...just for memories sake. And a special modern redo of that classic Kettle drum/French horn/trumpet intro. Only for this show. They can do the modern intro for all their other shows they distribute..

Eric Purkey Especially for the UK airing, it had the ATV logo since it was appeared which was not for the US airing.

YES! That's the logo I've been looking for! I was only 3 when The Muppet Show ended, but I always remembered the spinning red, blue, and green and the logo that looked a bit like a double helix. That logo came on at the beginning, right before the show started (at least here in the USA). My parents used to laugh at me because any time I saw the logo, I thought it was part of the show and would be so disappointed if it was a different show haha. I was reminded of it when I saw they had put the Muppet Show on Disney+. To be honest, it's weirdly disappointing that it's not there anymore haha.

It was also used on 1980s repeats of Brian Clemens’ Thriller anthology - originally, it just had the ATV logo at either end - but some episodes were repeated, but made up to look new, with that ITC logo at either end and a more protracted opening and closing sequence to make it look like an American TV movie - the UK DVD release of the series was presented in its original TV broadcast format, with each episode having the US title sequence at the end - some of the episodes were retitled and even some of the actors’ and actresses’ names were misspelled!

I always loved this ITC logo as a kid growing up in the 70s, Space 1999 like a lot of folks mentioning on here loved that show with Ben Gazzera, brings back fond memories of growing up, and being a former trumpet player from junior high/hs days love the trombone and trumpet introduction music with that spinning sphere.

My mother used to work for ITC which was before my time when she was working for "The Muppet Show".. By judging by this logo, this was the company my mom used to work all through the 1970's.

I remember the ITC spinning top logo from reruns of the Muppet Show. They, unfortunately, don't show the ITC logos on the DVDs.

The version of the logo shown in 1:12 I have recorded on VHS from when they gave John Carpenter's Halloween on USA Network back in like 1995/1996 or 1997. So that version creeps me out the most. Also that version of Halloween's picture quality was kind of grainy with very little color that left out details so it looked more scarier and creepier than the pristine Remastered versions that are out there today with lots of bright gloomy colors that take away from the film's darkness.

ITC folded into Universal in 1998. Universal is now known as NBCUniversal (owned by Comcast).

I remember a version of the pinwheel logo that read "ITC presents" with the ITC logo much larger and dead-center instead of off to the left as in "ITC Entertainment." Maybe used the first season only of the Muppet Show or on something else prior to that?

I guess that the whole point of the strong (some even say "blaring" and "bombastic") orchestral logos like the ITC ones was to inspire awe and be impressive. The "Rainbow Top" ones you show toward the end even once got a "nightmare" rating and were called "about as scary as you can possibly get without causing physical injury".

Shaun Speers On Magnetic Video releases of the “Great Muppet Caper”, it doesn’t have the ITC logo, it just starts the film with “Lew Grade Presents”.

I Keep thinking of Space 1999, The Muppets, and The saint when I hear and see one of those logos . I did not see much of The Saint, but happened to see the end of it and tape recorded the closing credits.

I first saw the 'pinwheels' ident on a VHS tape of Firepower with James Coburn. I have a special liking for that one.

Do you have the logos with the spinning color shapes that included the words "An ATV Company" or "An ACC Company" in your collection? (Those sets of words were included in the later openings for "The Muppet Show". The wording was changed to "An ACC Company" late in "The Muppet Show" 's last season, I think. The "ATV" and "ACC" initials were presented logo style.)

MichaelHansenFUN I guess so. Lew Grade was the guy who founded the company before it went to the US for distribution of the UK based shows and movies during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Ever seen the ITC ident from the early 70's in front of a filmed telerecording of an ATV videotape show? There's at least one episode of ATV's Crossroads that starts with an ITC ident. I always thought ITC stood for action & adventure, not a plodding VT soap opera!
