An idea to improve things massively. They can introduce a button that can be used by the user to quantify their negativity for a given video. TL:DR To improve KZfaq (imo): - Bring back showing the amount of dislikes. - Allow us to hide community posts in our subscription feed as I have seen quite a few KZfaqrs use it as a vehicle to essentially spam - Give us the option to stop autoplay on playlists. Ridiculous how we don't have that. I use playlist to pick out videos to watch from a specific topic, not to watch all of them. - bring back hiding comments in the comment section. They had this feature for a minute then took it off. - For KZfaq premium members such as myself, have a feature that allows us to skip sponsorship ads. I am sorry but the reason why I have KZfaq premium is because I DON'T want to see ads. For people who don't have premiums, they get enough ads to watch, then on top of that have to watch a 1-2 minute sponsorship. Sure, we can fast forward, but we could be missing quite of bit of content after the sponsorship. - Fine tune the recommendations to be better, like recommending videos based on topics and not channels. I may have an interest in a topic, and have watched many KZfaq videos from different content creators to research, but then my recommendations would just spam me with recommendations for one content creator who I had no interest watching beside what they talked about in a specific topic I was searching up. Now if I watch multiple videos by them, THEN that's an indication that I may enjoy what their content on their channel as a whole. - If I have to keep deleting specific recommended videos from my recommendation, then that is an indication that I am NOT interested in those videos. STOP RECOMMENDING THEM. Example: I love cartoons, but I do NOT like Family Guy and I don't watch it. Same thing with the Simpons. Don't hate the Simpsons, but I don't watch them. Every time I come on, everyday I am giving recommended videos that have clips of these shows, and this has been happening for at least a year. I don't understand. Algorithm needs to be fine tuned to noticing patterns. That it because my comments is too long. 😂

I for one believe the leadership at KZfaq have made a long and ongoing, awful sequence of decisions for the platform at the cost of both viewers and creators.. but especially creators. The way KZfaq has and continues to treat their creators is quite frankly despicable. Even creators of factual documentaries such as those covering history are constantly at risk. I could go on and on but the last point I'll make is one that I'm sure most everyone is aware of but needs to be repeated. KZfaq's failure to clearly state their rules and policies on paper (virtual or otherwise) is so utterly frustrating and perplexing as to cause any logical minded person's head to explode. Obviously this is done for the purposes of allowing them to selectively apply any rule, to anyone, at any time, for any reason.. So no... I don't think the leadership at Google has been some beacon of great leadership and effective moderation. The reason they are the only show in town is because they are a monopoly who has a completely captive audience whom competitors have little to no chance of overcoming. I genuinely despise what KZfaq has become and that is directly a result of how it has been run by the top leadership. These people should not be praised.

Yt is like a bad bf/gf to most of it's content creators. They keep their content creators destabilized and roped in with trying to impress YT, or at least trying to not incite YT contempt/ire. KZfaq's withholding or outright stealing the profit of their content creators, their refusal to lay down and enforce the rules consistently, as well as their random destruction of what is essentially performance art (videos) hijacks content creator's brains in a way and makes them give up everything, work 24/7 for little to no pay, and invest everything they have just to try and please YT and keep their work from being destroyed. In this way, yt can monetize a content creator's work, keep them enslaved, but never actually pay them. Oh, I'm sure they have a few content creators that are like that person at the fair who is selected to "win" a big prize teddy bear and walk around with it, with the intent of enticing people to go play the games at the game booths, but overall, being a youtuber is not worth the expense in time, money, and self esteem from never being able to do it right.

I would argue that YT's massive overreaction to advertiser apprehension was an unmitigated disaster. They alienated their content creators, leaving them to plead for survival with fans for direct support via Patreon. It's been rough sailing ever since, with one silly decision after another, confusing, vague and arbitrary guidelines, and nebulous internal processes. YT lost its fresh startup creativity to dull-witted, corporate thinking long ago. I see more of the same with another suite like Neal Mohan (as evidenced by his erratic pivoting to trends and technical buzzwords).

Short-Form video content isn't a "fad", but it's something that will always remain small. There's a reason only teenagers really watch it. Tik-tok has to copy youtube in a lot of ways to remain relevant, and I think youtube is only hurting their brand chasing it. Tik-tok is only really popular on smart phones while youtube can span every device. Tiktok also has to deal with the US government. KZfaq still doesn't have competitors, but if they keep screwing up, they will have them. There are alternative youtube clones appearing that actually will take all your youtube content and upload it themselves to your new channel free of charge.

The thing is, YT is so large and established as a platform that they don’t actually need to be the ones to innovate past a certain degree, sure they can get caught napping but they can easily sit back and let the world revolve a bit without feeling too much pressure to stir things up, simple because there is no real competition in their space, they own this part of the internet. They’re so big that even someone comes out of no where with something that does directly compete with YT, they can quite easily pivot and make the necessary changes. So yeah, it don’t matter if YT innovate or not.

i don't think that's the problem, its no one leaves anythinanymorere, google search stopped doing decent searches, but people still use it because its default on all the android phones, and its a verb, and people do not even seem to know about competitors, their have been and will always be video sharing sites, mind you the vast majority of googles inventions, where things they bought and "improved: if you count a less customizable, harder to monetize, harder to search, harder to leave as an innovation. In the old days when internet companies did this to customers, customers fled for other places. And then they say but non one is over there, and of course, No one was here once either. We are just too damn stupid to reject a increasingly poor project, and by design they are trying to kick us out ans turn it into a cable network on the internet.

Here’s a new idea for KZfaq instead of demonizing people for not being kid friendly just age restrict them people should have the right to make money regardless of there content so just age restrict un kid friendly videos not demonize them and if you want to help people identify what kind of content there about to watch. Put ratings ya know like have an AI system give the video a rating like PG-13 or something and have restrict mode have customizable settings to what ratings it hides and it doesn’t have to be the same ratings that movies use you could make up your own you can also have content labels like tv ratings do under the rating you can have a smaller ,O, standing for (offensive content) so yeah that’s basically my idea let all content makers make money and use ratings to warn the viewers.

KZfaq is significantly more usable by using a few extensions. For example, there is one which shows the number of dislikes on a video, by somehow gathering information from multiple people who use this extension. I don't know how accurate it is, but it does very roughly align with the number of dislikes explicitly stated by some KZfaqrs. Another nice extension option is disabling Autoplay, hide Shorts, hide recommendations, as well as many others, depending on personal taste.
