BoA debuted at 14 and was the first Korean artist to top the Oricon chart, truly the 'Best of Asia'. 💛 TVXQ was the first foreign group to hold a 5-Dome tour in Japan and the first foreign artists to perform at Nissan Stadium. BoA and TVXQ opened the doors to Japan's music scene-they're both still considered J-Pop to this day due to their successful assimilation and Japanese fluency. ❤️ And thanks to their worldwide hit "Sorry, Sorry" Super Junior are indeed the Kings of the Hallyu Wave, being the first Korean artist to perform 100 concerts worldwide. 💙

The crazy thing is, the concert in Paris was only supposed to be for Super Junior, but SM decided to make it into an SM Town concert. Kinda smart of them, but so many French ELF are still upset about it to this day 😂

Ugly cried in the Super Junior part of the video 😭😭😭 This 'documentary' has brought back memories to when I started with KPop. Back in 2008-2012, loving KPop was frowned and laughed upon, like why do you listen to songs you don't understand. We got to a point of being ridiculed just because we liked KPop, some telling us we're corny for liking them. But I'm glad I held on to the groups in this video, especially Super Junior. Their music and the 2nd generation groups were the ones that brought happiness to me, transitioning from adolescent to young adult. Now, I'm nearing my 30s but the love I have for 2nd generation groups are still the same. Their music doesn't get old, they offer variety of sounds and more importantly, they're one of the nicest persons in the KPop industry 💙💙💙

BoA indeed the pioneer and queen of kpop. I can't even imagine all the struggles she went through alone starting at a young age. I love how they don't talk about the contribution of tvxq in Japan as usual. Spreading kpop to Japan is thanks to boa and tvxq. Tvxq went from performing in a small hall to Tokyo dome due to their hard work in Japan. They were the first korean idol to perform in one of japan's domes, setting the level of what kpop can achieve in Japan. They were also the first korean idol who appeared on shabekuri 007 one of Japan's most famous variety shows. Why are their contribution always forgotten 🙄

if you're wondering why most of the artists covered in the documentary were from SM, i think it's because SMent, for the most part, were the pioneer risk takers in the industry. Everybody did their job well, lots of artists and agencies achieved so many things and deserves to be applauded; it cannot be erased in the history. It just so happens that SMent was the first ones to dip their toes in the water before others decided to dive deep into the sea. Nonetheless, I'm really proud of everybody. It's not easy being in this industry.

This is true. It is hard to talk about other companies during a time when most of them didn't exist yet. Also people are judging without even watching. In the first ep, none of the interviews or featured artists is SM - Key Boys, JinJoo, Solid, CLON, 1TYM, Seo Taiji none of these are SM. Even in this ep Wonder Girls Yeeun, Joon Park, Kim Tae Woo, Jae Chong, Dara are interviewed and none of them are SM. Of course SM is a huge part of the history but the documentary is including many other companies and some of the eps none of the featured acts are SM.

i was in grade school when kpop started blowing up in southeast asia. prominent groups back in those days were 2ne1, snsd, wonder girls and super junior. 2ne1 was popular because sandara park was already famous in the philippines, which paved way for kpop to be known in the country. im happy that i witnessed how kpop penetrated in the country, and local kpop fans just keep on increasing! also sorry sorry was also danced by the cebu dancing inmates xD super junior became the first kpop group who performed at the araneta coliseum too! 2nd gen was really a legendary generation - they introduced kpop globally. they walked so newer kpop groups can run.

I really miss this generation of KPOP! I became a KPOP fan in 2006 with Super Junior as my ultimate group. But it didn't mean we don't support the others, in fact we loved all groups and the songs they come out with. I ended up filling up all my 1G mp3 player with just kpop songs. Their generation was truly THAT Golden Era.

Actually, SM Entertainment girl group S.E.S. was the first K-pop group to debut in Japan. They did so in late 1998, taking advantage of member Shoo's (Yoo Soo-young) fluency in Japanese (Shoo was born in Japan to a Korean father and a Japanese mother of Korean ethnicity).
