The fact that we met Samuel and Daz all the way back in episode 3, and now nine years and +80 episodes later, they finally meet their horrible deaths. Even though they were super minor characters it is heartbreaking to see their deaths.

Imagine surviving since s1 just to get killed by the people you considered friends. Sad life as a supporting character

Probably my new favorite scene of AoT, Connie's VA killed it

It’s extra sad because you can tell that neither side wanted to kill the other. Samuel shot Armin but just gave a warning to Connie because he knew Connie couldn’t heal himself, and Daz was hesitating to finish off Armin

What makes it worse: guess who saved Samuel's life back in the day, when the Colossal Titan showed up? Sasha.

What I find so interesting and tragic both about this scene was that they took Reiner and Bertolt's reveal and Bertolt's later confession in season 2 and completely flipped it around. Now it's Connie and Armin in their shoes and they know first hand what Bertolt was going through and what he meant that he legitimately saw them as their friends, but what he's doing is something that must be done. It's even more tragic when you realize prior to the final season 3 battle after he saw Reiner's head blown off, Bertolt was holding back the Colossal titan's power the entire time and was trying not to directly kill anyone. Letting you know he was honest about what he was saying to his comrades.

The VA for Connie deserves an award for this performance.

Extra sad because Connie felt really betrayed and hurt by Reiner and the others in the first seasons, but now he understand them and he has to go through being considered a traitor and murdering his friends too...

Everything came full circle. Just like Reiner and Berthold had now betray friends to save the world so do Armin and Connie now. AOT is genius.

This made me love Connie, not because of he did, but because of how sad he was, how broken he was, but he still fought for his cause

The most harrowing thing about season 4 is the loss of innocence from so many of the characters. People forced to do things they’ve never imagined they would need to do.

it really is interesting to see the different parallel, in the show Armin and Connie played the very same roles as Reiner and Bert in season 2&3, now seeing how Samuel and Daz had to be like Armin, Connie, Jean, Sasha, and many others in the Scouts from previous seasons, damn this show is so well written

His questions on berthold have been answered in a pretty brutal hardcore reality way

By far the most complex and horrible scene in all AoT. The tragedy of the war. The best series of all time until now. I remember I'd cried like a child when I saw it. This scene, the Erwin last speech and the Armin sacrifice are the most heartbreaking scenes of all time.

The scene is not sad for the death of the two because more important characters had less sad deaths, but for what it represents.

This shows how selfless Armin is cause had that have been Erwin.... He would've been like "I'll be back in 2 minutes" transformed and killed EVERYONE.

I read the manga and when I read this page I didn’t think that much of it. When I read it I didn’t think about how much emotion some music and voice acting can put into this scene which is y I love it when I get to watch the anime and see it really come to life. I knew this messed Connie up after I read it but I could really feel it when the VA did that scream the pure emotion and despair he put into that scream sends chills down my spine. The most unsettling thing to watch is the comedic relief character fall into despair we got a glimpse of that last season now we r getting the full picture.

Watching everyone react to this makes this even more sad because at first I was just like Damn that shit really hurt, but now yall up here crying and I'm finna start sniffin 😂😫
