I lived in nimbin for two years from 2007 and met and aboriginal elder who was in his mid 50s then a great bloke and humble simple living man with a story about little hairy men! He told me that when he was a young lad of about 7 yrs old he met a little hairy man down by the creek in some remote part of that ancient forest west of nimbin and that it was a young one and he would play games with it he said that they would like tossing little pebbles at each other while playing in the creek, he said he would go back regularly and eventually met the little ones whole family! That’s right a family of them! I had never heard of hairy men or yowies! I had heard of Bigfoot and thought that was only in America. Anyway my friend (out of respect I won’t use his name because he doesn’t know I’m telling this story and I have lost contact with him and can’t ask permission) whom I believe 100% had a friendly relationship with these creatures for many years and even told me he could go back and visit anytime although he hadn’t for over thirty years , he said that when they looked up through the tree canopy and the sunlight hit there eyes they would sparkle with all colours of the rainbow and that over time they exchanged token gifts and he said that the little one who he first met would give him sparkling rocks which he kept for over twenty years in a box in his room and he would tell all the other kids that the little hairy men gave them to him! Anyway when he was older he was telling one of his mates showing him the hairy man rocks and his mate told him that it was sparkling because it was gold and he should sell them! My friend got over thirty thousand dollars for his sparkly rocks and that would have been in the eighties some time. So quite a lot of money for a simple humble man so in true form and style of this man he gave 20,000 to his whole mob on one of the missions down there and kept ten for himself, since then I have heard hundreds of people’s accounts of sightings the locals say there are meat eating ones and fruit eating ones the meat eating ones are the ones that smell bad and are dangerous and the locals are very frightened by even the thought of being in the bush at night!
