Here's my review of the YoyoFactory DV888. This is one that YoyoFactory needs to do better on.

Thanks for the video. What aluminum yoyo would you recommend for a beginner?

Nice review. for anyone that wants to get it cheaper, I bought mine from bonanza for $19.99, then just had to get a center Trac for $10 and slim pads for 2$. u will save about $10 this way

What other responsive aluminum yoyos are out there? I want some more durable than my Sage when I'm out and about.

CENTER311 way too late but the yo-yo factory confusion gt is really solid. It also comes with bearings that can make in unresponsive.

What's a better metal yoyo than this if one is learning to bind for the first time?

Sooo just got a “b grade” for 9.99$ I mean is it gonna be responsive? I’ve seen them as responsive..?

it's an old yoyo, I used the dv8 back in 08' still made in the US, it's stable yoyo, I put crucial bearing, and it's great. but for these days, they should discontinued dv8 or updated. as you said, it's still the same price since they first came out, well since I bought it in the old days. nonetheless, it's pretty solid throw.

Best yo yo that comes responsive and can become unresponsive. This the replay or the arrow? Can find the first base?

definitely enjoy your subjectivity... with that said it a critique I would offer is to establish the intent of the yoyo's design and target market and how the design hits the mark or not for that target audience. the DV888 might not be for an intermediate/advanced user but for a beginner.. it has a solid spin time, the size seems appropriate for a child and it can take a beating and lasts a good bit before you might to buy your kid a newer yoyo when they get to a more intermediate level

I don't entirely disagree, but to me, it comes down to price. Everything about the DV888 comes in $10 too much on average. I also don't think its any more durable than a decent plastic yo-yo.

Throws N' Brews yep, definitely agree on a price drop

You said there are other options you'd buy for the price range it is in. What would you recommend other than this yo-yo?

one of the biggest reason the price is as high as it is, its one of their older models (ik i had one back in 2009) so, the price is based on old machining costs and material costs. they have dropped it 15 dollars over the years. they will most likely drop it to 20 eventually or 25.

i also hate the dv888. everyone i had vibed too much.
@throwsnbrews95167 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it should be there already. If it came with all the fixins (center track bearing, longer axel, extra slim pads) at $30, I'd have no complaints. But slim bearing, no axle no extra pads and 1 string at $30 is a rip off. Letting anyone, especially your largest retailer push it responsive at $30 is a failure on YYF's part. It hurts beginner throwers rather than helps them. I hope enough people are saavy enough to google youtube reviews of stuff before they buy.

@@throwsnbrews9516 I am looking for a metal responsive yoyo in 2020 some of the ones you suggested in other videos I cant seem to find. What is out there now that is responsive and is metal under $50? Thanks for any help.
@mexicalikid647 жыл бұрын
Just put a bigger bearing it to make it unresponsive?
@throwsnbrews95167 жыл бұрын
You have to switch to slim pads and a longer axle, too. Its kind of an ordeal.

I dont think you understand, people are demanding that yoyofactory produce this yoyo exactly the same way because they have a sort of nostalgia for it. It is excellent for beginners because it forces you to develop good technique as it has poor stability so it forces you to tune your throwing skill. You didn't mention anything about the spin time but this yoyo lacks spin time and rim weight. You did mention the fact that it has high walls but you didn't point out that the reason for this is to help its performance in regards to regens. The high walls always help with regens. I know you don't do regens so you don't care. Again this isn't necessarily a con it's part of the intended design and if you don't like it I totally understand. I don't like it either. But I still have respect for it as a tool for learning...that's why they advertise it to beginners mostly at the low price point.

I wish I'd seen this review before I bought mine. Paid about 25 USD for it. Almost unusable out of the box - super thick response pads made it very grabby and it had a rough area around the pads which kept cutting strings. After some careful sanding and replacing the pads it was acceptable as a responsive throw. Decided to try it unresponsive so I put in a longer axle and center-trac bearing - again an acceptable unresponsive throw. However, this brings the total spend close to 40 USD! For the money I'd rather have any 3 of the Magicyoyo throws I own. The DV888 is a decent undersized throw but it costs twice as much as it should.

I think that they should just ditch the dv888 and make a better designed responsive metal yoyo. The design is too old, but I think they should still have an upgradeable metal yoyo so beginners can start easy and then get a good unresponsive yoyo for just paying $10 - $15 more dollars
