To put some insight as to why the steel was placed slightly before the rims, we tried prototyping the yoyo with all the weight on the rims just like a standard bi-metal. What happens when you have a wide yoyo, any extra weight to the rims de-stabilizes it, so the weight towards the inside keeps it extremely balanced. The placement of the steel on the step design allows the dense steel to be placed on the outer diameter (better spin times), and inner width (more stability). Hope that makes sense to whoever is thinking of getting this yoyo. Anyways, thanks for the review, Brandon, and thanks for the help naming the darn thing.

my friend got edge and let me use it it had amazing stability and good spin time. I just wish I had bought one when I had all that b-day money but I instead got nightmare cuz it was cheaper on sale than the edge

I just ordered my first yoyo. I haven't had one since I was 10. I'm 28 now and I want to get into it. I purchased a yoyojam classic. I hope to get a shutter next. any recommendations beyond that? I'm looking for beginner and more advanced ideas.

When doing finger spins does the yoyo center itself in a dimple or spin in a circular pattern and any other thoughts on how it finger spins

Sebastian Gruen the edge is very good for fingerspins. the dimple is conevex so it doesent center your finger, but it does have a very controlled orbit during fingerspins so it grinds long and smooth. The finish is also very nice for grinds which helps.

The Replay Pro is a decent pick. It's capable of surprisingly advanced tricks for such a cheap yoyo (about $16 if I'm not mistaken), let alone a plastic one. It's the same one Gentry Stein used to win the 2015 U.S. Nationals.

The spin time on the edge is pretty amazing though. That is the only point where we disagree. Spins forever.

JoVi []_[] compared to other good bimetals, it is a bit lacking (nightmare,steel,firrox even the stealth). Dont get me wrong though, its a great throw, i love the edge.

Not really, the Shutter has a very normal weight distribution while the Edge's is pretty unique.
