Was nice to see a larger pan being used to cook a full pan of food on a tiny burner stove. The little burner did really well and of course the Jackery 500 Explorer did its job perfectly 👏.

I've had this hotplate for years. I use it every day in my home. I love it. If you're going to buy one I highly recommend that you take it OUTSIDE and let it off-gas for at least an hour, maybe two. It took a long time before it stopped emitting harsh chemical smells. I also use the hotplate as a heater. Believe it or not it works A LOT better than my 750w space heater. I take a very small personal fan and point it at the hotplate and let it run. It heats up my scamp very well and uses less juice than the 750w heater. Good luck. Cheers.

Hello, do you have measurements on how hot this hotplate can get? Im doing a personal project that requires a high temperature hotplate and I am wondering if this hotplate is suitable, Thanks

2 things I think would help. one is a smaller pan so the heat is all over the bottom in one go and 2 is a lid or foil cover to keep the heat in the pan and save losing most of it to the outside air. Im guessing the dial adjusts a thermostat so it triggers on less often the lower the dial but is always at 470 ish watts, bit like a microwave would work The hot plate is cast iron so should really hold onto the heat a long time.

This is awesome. I’ve been looking at energy efficient cooking method for off grid camping. I’m glad there’s an option where my power usage is literally cut in half!

wow thats incredible that the 500w jackery can cook a meal using that little hotplate and only burn about 1% battery per minute.. I will definitely be getting that hotplate. Thanks!

Always interested in small stoves for car camping reviews. I think your pan is too big for that cook top. I use an 8” skillet to cook camping for 1 sometimes 2 people.

If you put at 5 it cool faster. I think the 500 can handle it. I used cat iron plate. It works great

Great review. 👍 I have a couple of Jackery 290, and large ECOFLO units will look into the Jackery 500. Looking into hot plates for camping, and SHTF preps. 3X you said this model is a YK, when it shows YQ, Rocky Mountain high?

Lol into dash toaster oven. 500 ways and use almost daily. It can cook almost any thing like a mini air fryer.

so when you dialed down the hotplate to 3.5 it still pulled about the same wattage as on 5 ? did you notice any change towards a lower heat output from the cooker?
@CoolEyeColorado
@CoolEyeColorado 2 жыл бұрын
I did notice a slightly lower heat output from turning it down. The little stove is a little finicky just because of the way it heats, but for my purposes (not usually bacon and eggs, but heating water or heating up package meals) it works great.

wattage is constant, the control is a thermostat, not a variable heat control.

It works well, but if you were camping and relying on solar to recharge, it would use too much power.

Unless you’re using a small pot, that little base with a big pan looks every unstable and dangerous

it's actually more stable than a typical backpacking stove which is even smaller than the hotplate.

I'm putting together a list for a DIY motorcycle popup camper, what I bring must fit a height of 2ft, otherwise as little weight as possible. My list so far: 1. Toilet: Camco 2.6gal toilet $76.98 2. Heat: Honeywell HeatBud MiniHeater250W $29.95 3. Light:Onite 5w led light bulb 4. Hot plate: 500w yosoo 5.6in Now I need to pair these to a power station, maybe solar if I can figure it out, and I've got a perfect spring-summer-fall camper kit! I posted this because it took days of searching to narrow down this list, so I feel like I should share to help the community. Give this a like if it's a list others should see! (Edit) I forgot the 4. On the hotplate, my b

Totally agree with you on that. I find it too messy. I tend to buy packaged meals and just use the stove to heat up things or boil water for coffee.
