ive always understood YTPMVs and also never understood them at they same time but i love them so goddamn much

If I may add something: YTPMV hasn't admittedly been that prevalent fad over the late 2010's-early 2020's, but there have been some million view hits over this period as well (e.g. "Win the Race" by iteachvader, "Morshu's Paradise" by Jeff Lindblom, "Im. Scatman" by Hamburgaga and "Oto-Wak", a Final Fantasy X collab). However, these kind of instances are fairly infrequent so it's easy to miss them if you're not paying attention. "Im. Scatman" is a pretty interesting case though, since that along with its source video ended up bringing a lot of attention towards Vtubers during the late 2019-early 2020. This ended up being a fairly major factor in their rise to global popularity from 2020 onward. "Oto-Wak" (おとわっか in Japanese) also had a similar effect when it was released in May last year. Even though the collab came out of nowhere, people quickly fell in love with it and its KZfaq upload received over 1.8 million views in less than a month. Its popularity was even documented in a couple of Japanese news articles, which noted that the collab had also boosted the game's digital sales. However, the video's original upload was taken down in early June 2022 due to Square-Enix's direct intervention, which also included either removal or censoring of these articles. I'd say this is one of the best examples of missing a popular video if you're not paying attention. I would have some other trivia and recommendations of some more recent popular songs, but I'll first see if there's any interest for that.

Wow, didn't expect YTPMV stuff from here! YTPMV is at first very intuitive to make if you have only a little musical experience, but requires pretty advanced sound design and mixing technics when you decide to deep dive and create some masterpiece quality shits. (and I'm talking about only audio for now) I think that's what makes creating YTPMV stuff fun. I'm into it for almost 9 years lol It's so sad that one of the big major Japanese YTPMV (OtoMAD, technically and mainly) reupload channels, rlcemaster, shut down a few weeks ago so can't reach foreign fellas anymore :( they pretty vary from western ones and are very interesting to dive into.
