@@itsddashrock I think GOAT is boring af. I actually do prefer this format over GOAT. If I wanted a slower game, I’d just play MtG. For retro yugioh, the best formats are definitely Edison, HAT, and Charleston.

At that time, the field will have 5 extra monster zones (for each players), 10 monster zones, and you can Conquest Summon (the monster takes over opponent's zones) and then try to swarm each other with a full board and 30 negates on turn 1.

Not only that but the point is now to put as much stuff into your deck as possible that prevents your opponent from interacting with you at all so you can OTK them. If you aren't playing like a Blue player in MTG, you aren't winning

So true man. I play master duel. Refuse to play the meta decks. I sit there for so long while my whole deck is negated 🤣. Turn takes 10 min. My standby phase where I'm supposed to play the dude takes 3 mins. Idk man I miss the game before pendulum summoning. Where you didn't have to play meta but you still had a chance. Now everyone runs the same deck. Magic is too woke to play. Guess I'll just read books

Literally me... I decided to go to a game shop that hosts Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments every Friday night to check it out. Made a couple quick friends who could talk me around. They asked me if I had a deck, which I do it's just really old, since I developed it over years back when I was like 10. They asked me what's in it and I started listing off all of them (I'll never forget my deck list even after a decade). Qhen I finished they laughed and I was like, "What's funny?" They replied, "That would actually be a good deck... if almost half of the cards weren't banned". I was so disappointed... then I watched the first round, and most of the pairs weren't even talking, just playing without a word, cards going everywhere, I could not keep track. I ended up going outside and had a smoke as I teared up a little; I realised childhood Yu-Gi-Oh was long gone now.

Your childhood yugihoh isnt gone, the game has just changed for the worst, but there are places that sometimes will make old fashioned yugioh tournaments, even the video game master duels not so long ago had an event where players could only play the OG yugioh cards no pendulum, no links, no solitaire, no 30 cards discard, just old style yugioh, sadly it ended after only about two weeks. But it was actually fun.

@@pmqtpqbtmz3956 You don’t even need to go that far. Just play sealed. Use weaker structure decks or play on MD on a new account without googling decklist. When you aren’t using the tier 0 strategies, the game is actually pretty back and forth, just look at how much people liked the very recent AGOV or POTE formats and how people still play those with friends or in local scenes

Easy: Let's start with the basics, you saw at least battle city's arc, right? OK, from there this has changed: 1) Main Deck is topped to 60 cards max. 2) Fusion deck changed name to "Extra deck", as more types of monster card were invented. They go here and it's topped to 15 cards. We will see this new cards in a moment. All the new monster cards except pendulum monsters go here. 3) Theres a new "Extra monster zone". Mainly used for a special type of card named "Link monsters", and sometimes "pendulum monsters". We will see them in a moment. 4) The 2 farthest spell and trap zones also have some Rhombus for "pendulum monsters". We will see them in a moment. So, the new types of monsters: 1) Synchro : gray. They are invoked similar to the fusion monsters. However, they work a little different: you need 2 monsters whose level sum exactly the level of the synchro monster. Furthermore, one of the monsters must have the sub-type "tuner". It's like monster that "tunes up" the other to make the "synchro". They are sent to the graveyard and you invoke the synchro from the extra deck, and it's considered a special summon. 2) XYZ: Black cards. You take 2 monsters with the same level both of them as the desired XYZ (pronounced "x-sees"). You stack both monsters in a monster zone and on top of them, stack the XYZ monster. Normally this cards tell you to "detach" a material to use their effect, so the used monsters are like the fuel gauge of the XYZ monster. Each time you use the effect of the XYZ monster you consume part of that fuel. When you "detach" the monster, it goes to the graveyard. The invoking of this card is considered a special summon. 3) Link: blue, you sacrifice the number of monsters it asks for. Sometimes the monsters need to meet a condition as well (e.g at least one spellcaster). This monster goes exclusively in the new extra monster zone. This monsters can only go in attack mode. The arrows of these cards have 3 main purposes: 3.1) Apply effects to monsters summoned in the spaces the arrows points to. 3.2) Space for pendulum monsters (more on that later). 3.3) Allow you to summon more link monsters to other monster zones. This summon is considered a special summon. If you want to link summon using a link monster in your field, the link material can count as 1 monster or as the number indicated in the bottom left corner. 4) Pendulum: my favorite... But also one of the most complicated ones 😅. They are "half monsters", "half spell cards". So, they can be normally summoned as a regular monster, or also played as a spell card in the designated areas (the rhombus ones). Depending if you invoke them as spell or as a monster is what box text you use. Furthermore, if you have to pendulums as spell, you can do, once per turn, a "pendulum summon". This means that you can invoke any monsters you want from you hand or extra deck (extra deck that are face up) whose level are between the number in the rhombuses. For example, if you have 2 and 8, you can invoke monsters whose levels are 3 to 7. When a pendulum monster is destroyed, they go face up to you extra deck. Also, I almost forget: The monsters from your hand that you "pendulum summon" can go in any monster zone from your side of the field, but monsters face up from the extra deck that you "pendulum summon" can only go in the extra monster zone or a monster zone pointed by a link monster. The pendulum summon I just explained is considered a special summon. Remember a pendulum monster from you hand can also be normal summoned. So there you go, that are the new mechanics. Now, regards some changes I have seem in general when playing: 1) Many people now use a variety of this new cards, using cards to summon fusion monsters, synchro, XYZ, etc... 2) Now they are many cards beside polymerization that let's you fusion. Some of them even go specific (e.g. Summon 2 "shadoll monsters" (and archetype). 3) Duels have gone from 30 turns, 2 minutes each, to 4 turns, 15 minutes each 😅. Many players will play several cards (spells and monster's effects) that will allow them, at the end, invoke 3 to 5 super powerful monsters, to the level of a Dsrk magician or a Blue eyes white dragon. How they make it I have no idea 😅, but take that into considerations, as many duels nowadays, for that reason, don't last more than 4 turns. 4) As you see, many new monsters types are special summon, so the players use cards that let you special summon things, then use them as materials for synchros, XYZ, etc... That's part of the reason they take so much time in the turns and why the duels have so few turns now. 5) Many cards you can get them for cheap know (at least in a normal rarity), so it's a good time to get that cards you wished for but never got as they where extremely expensive. 😁 6) There are many structure decks nowadays. Its recommended you get 3 of them in order to arm up a strong deck, as many main monsters (now named boss monsters) only come 1 per deck, and normally you want 3 copies (e.g. Buying 3 Kaiba decks to have 3 blue eyes). 7) For something a little faster, there are 2 new types of duels: speed duels and rush duels. For speed duels you may need to buy special cards with the legend "speed duel". This are more emphasized in having duels as before, 30 turns, 2 minutes each. You play with only 3 monsters and 3 spell/trap zones, and I think all the new monster types I told you don't exist (also the fusion ones). Rush duel is a new format similar to speed duel, but currently is only available to Japan 😅. That's all I know, if you know something else, please let me know 😁

tried master duel links on xbox I uninstalled it after a week, too much p2w 1st problem 2nd was that I'd Be OTK-ed like every other match..it was f-king annoying. 3rd issue was trying to piece together a deck I could vaguely understand. Like dafqu is a Pendulum Deck?? I Got destroyed by that and I didn't even get turn in. Whomever made the Current Yu-gi-oh rule book so fluffing convaluted and these new overly complex decks should NEVER be allowed to work with another Card TCG industry as long as they breath the same air as everyone else because whatever they're breathing is clearly "TOXIC" jkjk

This is what killed duelling for me, I came back only to lose a match because I didn’t take more than a turn. Summoned 4 monsters with around 3000 atk on their first turn, being the games second turn. I had a 1900 atk, took 10 minutes in game. I had about 30 seconds actual game time. Yu Gi Oh needs to return to the GX days, where games were actually fun.

not totally true, i saw mnay types of deck in the ladder with originals strats, these are meta crusher but in long tome everybody know them, if you play less used card you can always surprise your opponent (my galactik kuriboh give me some games)

This was my experience. I returned to YuGiOh after not playing...for probably 25 years. I tried to embrace it. Built decks that I thought were cool, Madolche, Dragon Maids and Pendulum. I hated everything I was doing and how long things took. Built an exodia deck after that and told everyone I play with that if I don't draw Exodia on my 1st turn, then I forfeit. My Exodia deck and playstyle has been the most fun I've had in the game since vanilla.

1. How did he know about archetypes “what are snake-eyes” how did he know there were other snake-eye cards 2. There were special summons in old school yugioh 3. He used 3 cards to make Apollousa 4. Again there were multiple summons in one turn it was just one normal summon, lord of d horn of the dragon summoning 3 cards in one turn 5. Also there were cards that allowed you to search for cards in your deck When you make a vid about something like this, make it make sense

In the old school, with old rules and old decks, we won with 75% luck and 25% skill. Now, with the current rules and current decks, we win with 85% skill and 15% luck. The old top players were the luckier ones, while the current top players are the real professionals!

Fr. Yugioh peaked during the synchro era. It added stuff but was still simple enough for anyone to pick up the game and have fun. Now you never get a turn unless you're a straight geek

I was around with the OG format, played Synchros and XYZs. Came back for Master Duel a couple of years ago and didn't mind all the new mechanics. Shits bound to be way different all this time.
