After watching, I don't believe Roku IS Yugi. But I do believe that he could have maybe been an apprentice or student of Yugi, who might have been the original founder of that duel lodge. And as we know, Roku only appeared to have 1 student at a time. It may be possible that Roku could have been Yugi's sole apprentice, and thus possibly inherited his deck. Just my theory though.

I honestly think Roku is actually Yugi’s protégé because it’s never been confirmed that he had the chance to marry Tea and have a kid. However, if Yugi were to teach someone who was truly devoted to Duel Monsters as they truly are that he would respect them by carving statues of them, then it may be feasible to think that he would inherit his teachers cards.

Another point regarding putting the duelist in the shoes of the monster can be seen in the Duelist Kingdom art in Duel Monsters. When Yami/Yugi duels against Yami Bakura, Bakura puts Yugi & Co. into the through their favorite cards. Yugi being put in the shoes of the Dark Magician probably helped show him how his monsters felt during battle, and helped shape his philosophy regarding the Duel spirits.

Great theory, I love it! I actually had the same theory I while back, but never really expanded on it... That being said however, I think that Roku isn't actually Yugi, just a huge fan. If your timeline is correct, he would have grown up during Duelist Kingdom, Battle City, and of course be deeply impressed by all of the duelists, especially Yugi. And hey, maybe he even met Yugi once and Yugi gave him the Black Luster Soldier card, and that's why it's his ace monster. I still prefer your theory, this is just an alternative.

This is a very interesting theory and definitely worth the wait. I think the theory has merit especially seeing black luster soldier. If this theory is true it ponders the question of the other legendary monsters he is able to bring about. There is a lot of semblance between Zexal and DM but this isn't just a case of semblance. If true it's almost like they brought yugi back to kick off the new era of yugioh. The whole style changed from here on out but it kept the same generic pattern from the first three shows in their respective orders. Zexal felt like a duels monsters for the new generation while arc v felt like gx (especially toward the end) and vrains like 5Ds respectively. And if true Yugi handed over the reins to two protagonists. One was the very next protag and one the first of the new era of yugioh. I can buy it. Besides it's more fun to believe it's true

Things like that can't just be done at random. There was a reason they gave him Black Luster Soldier in that scene. I've got a theory for you. What would happen if Yugi lost the final battle (the one with Atem)? Would he (Atem) live like a normal people with yugi or be like his bigger brother (because Yugi means a lot for Atem and Atem for Yugi) ? That was awesome! Especially because in my mind at least Zexal has the losest connections to all the other adventures we know of. 11:03 One thing I would like to mention, Black Luster Soldier is not a mere coincidence. In GX, Black Luster Soldier was stated to be extremely rare (almost as a myth, like the Egyptian Gods), and Yugi apparently has the only copy. Also, the GX version of his deck (that Dimitri uses) was apparently made to match the TCG, so that's why BLS Envoy was used, instead of the original BLS, and also Dark Magician of Chaos (instead of Magician of Black Chaos).

I think it's mokuba, moku/roku. Being the youngest of the group he probably missed all of his friends after they all got old and passed away so he wanted to maintain their legacy. The atem stimulations that Kaiba made also might of taught him some valuable lessons.

I've only watched like most or half of Zexal and haven't finished watching that yet. But damn this is a good theory! Also, I'd really like know where you place Vrains in the Yu-gi-oh timeline. Another show I need to catch up on. But seriously, that one is even harder to place than Arc V. The way I've seen things lately, Arc V and Vrains seem to take place in their own stand alone one-shot timelines. I know there's worlds in Arc-V that resemble that of the familiar worlds from the shows before it. But if you really think carefully about it, they wouldn't exist how they did in that show, with subtle differences and without the original main protagonists from their original counterparts, if that show set in the same timeline. Keep in mind that the events of Arc-V's standard/pendulum dimension happen at the same time as the altered events of the shows prior in the other worlds, and is as if the prior show never happened. While Vrains could probably take place after 5Ds, but the only connection there is speed dueling, but with surfing instead of biking. There is also the connection to The Dark Side of Dimensions, based on the ending suggesting in that timeline Kaiba is the one who invented the Vrains. So maybe it could be yet another timeline split from the Fusion Era. Only problem is, is that nobody in Vrains uses fusion monsters (at least from what I remember or to my knowledge). But anyways, based on what I've seen of Vrains so far, it really seems/feels like it's just another stand alone timeline. Anime franchises seem to do that nowdays. Like Beyblade for example. Every single Beyblade series sets in their own timeline/universe. So it seems like Yu-gi-oh is now starting to follow that new anime anthology trend that Beyblade started. Edit: Wait, actually, let me correct that. It was actually Digimon that started the trend. Beyblade is what made it popular. And now Yu-gi-oh is doing it.

To counter your point about the egyptian gods: if I recall correctly when introduced in duel monsters it was stated that trying to draw those cards had a lot of casualties in Industrial Illusions, and only Pegasus was able to draw them. So I guess carving a statue of Ra would not be so simple as you make it sound..

Watching through zexal there was one scene from either 15/16 where Roku vaguely seems to be aware of astrals existence/ presence. Could be because of connection to Atem. Also when he consoled Yuma in 44 about not giving up on the WDC he mentioned something about Yuma not thinking about his partners feelings or something like that so that does prove that he is aware of Astrals existence so this theory does hold some solid truths.

Man for me I'd say 5ds(Second half aka the world racing grand prix) and ZeXaL happened at the same time but due to synchros being more popular, Xyz Summoning never stuck which caused Z-ONE's future. But this episode of ZeXaL may have happened in theory during the WRPG or the preparation of the event which would explain why Stardust Dragon wasn't a stone monster, some people maybe have believed Yusei wasn't well known at the moment yet. For instance if Konami did a second movie to 5ds revolving around Yusei searching for a new way to defeat the Meklords, I would see Team 5ds discovering Xyz Summoning by Number 96: Dark Mist before it's debut in ZeXaL and if possible have the card turn Yusei evil by overlaying it with Stardust (after giving the former a level equal to Stardust 8) and after he's freed the signers destroy it only for it to end up in Heartland where Yuma wins it.

I have to catch up to so many seasons. I still love this anime so much. It started my love for anime and I want to rewatch it. Also after Atem left I think Yugi wanted to just to play the game without any buzz around it so him going stealth isn't impossible

I think there was a very similar theory when zexal was still running and very early on. It’s still a very good theory! Arcana Knight Joker is also a Yugi card, however that one appears in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga.

Not related to this theory, but I'll post it here anyway. I was just watching your yugioh timeline video again, as well as the Vrains timeline video. I then thought back to bonds beyond time, and the incident that killed pegasus, Grandpa, and many others. Maybe that outcome formed a different timeline in which the world moved away from solid vision dueling. Companies instead started focusing on Virtual Reality, due to the damage caused by solid vision. This could explain why all dueling in Vrains is done in VR, why solid vision doesn't seem to exist. The only hole I can think of in this may be the swift appearance of the Xyz monster Zoodiac Hammerkong in episode 1 of Vrains. Thoughts? Edit: Solid vision may still be used in a limited capacity. Thus why AI is able to appear in the physical world, as well as possibly explain how 'unknown' was able to attack Jin in the real world.

With roku putting Yuma's soul in the dark magician, the only way you could do that is with a millennium item, as we see done in season one of yugioh when bakura makes everyone there favorite card

I first seeing your timeline theory so interesting then the recommendation video is this theory. Both so interesting. From seing the thumbnail (yugi and roku pic) after read the title i just get the hint of resemblance of roku and sugoroku (aka yugi's grandpa, then yugi using roku name theory is get interesting here) hair. Dunno why. Then you said it in the last minute of the video. Lol. I actually didn't watch the entire anime of Yu-Gi-Oh (any season) and just playing the TCG and their games. But from watching your video i get to know what happened in the entire yugioh world. You have my thanks. And i want to add some theory why yugi change his name. He is being hunted by someone who killed kaiba (that makes different timeline happen based on your theory) and they didn't just killed kaiba, they might be hunt the entire major character for it(?) So, yugi is the only survivor and need to hid himself. Nah. Just my imagination. Lol.

I don't think Bastion ever Fusion Summoned, neither did most/all of the shadow riders.... and neither Zone nor Aproia (nor any of Aporia's fragments) preformed Synchro.

I kind of feel he's just a guardian of the legendary deck he could be guarding more than just yugi's but that is his go to deck when the situation calls for it, sort of like when the guardians of the mythyrian numbers were using the numbers they were guarding in duels

I definitely agree that Roku and Yugi are connected in some way. (He looks like grandpa Muto.) BUT, Not technically related, since I've seen your OG timeline video, but pause the video at 11:28 and look closely at the jacket of the enemy. There are a few things I notice: 1. it's like the antagonists of the first season of 5Ds. 2. The birdlike design of the jacket seems similar to Crow. 3. (Not at the timestamp) Chaos' eyes are heterochromatic, which is what happens to Judai (Jaden in the ENG Dub) when he obtains the cool power. Just something I found interesting.
