Took the "Link monster is a Ritual Monster with Arrow" into the whole new level

A little extra thing. This is something that gets lost in the dub, the way Aigami makes people disappear in the movie; your own existence in this dimension is defined by your links with other people, if someone doesn't know about anyone and no one knows about that someone then he would go into a lower plane of reality, Aigami has the power to break that links artificially. He is also trying to discover how to use the cube to canalize those links and ascend to a higher plane of existence (that's what Kaiba does at the end of the movie). And at the end of Vrains they say Link Vrains may now be connected to other realities and dimensions. I like to think that Vrains is a Ritual Dimenson, but not Arc V's ritual dimension, just another world with its own timeline (including the manga and DSOD). It conflicts less with the 4 shards of Zarc and all of that.

The Ritual dimension could also be in Ancient Egypt with the OG summoners

I feel like my world is complete after watching this masterpiece. Yu-gi-oh is a lifestyle for me and I have never seen something that makes more sense than this and after reading all of the mangas this makes so much sense on why there isn't a VRains one and why Yusaku is literally my favorite protag

I always liked the idea that Vrains is a disconnected "Ritual Dimension" or is on a timeline connected to the orginal Yugioh DM manga branched off from the anime timeline thanks to Darkseid of Dimensions. I'm just not exactly sure if that includes the other Yugioh mangas. I know most people don't like a large number of timeline branches but I prefer to think while the GX-Zexal manga's do take place in a timeline of the orginal Yugioh manga, the Darkside of Dimensions movie is another timeline split that eventually leads to the Vrains we see. (ArcV Manga's final boss and her legacy monsters make its placement more difficult for me personally) Mainly because if Kaiba already invented a much more advanced form of dueldisk shortly after the end of DM wouldn't it go to say by GX that technology would be more available.

I do find a lot of validity in this theory. In addition to the idea that the Ritual dimension is a continued story of DM with its own GX story, 5Ds story, and Zexal story, continuing on to a world where Zarc never came to power, this would also explain why there are no pendulum monsters in Vrains.

This is the first "Vrains is in the manga timeline" theory I've actually been happy with, seeing as how it ties in the anime as well

There was even that episode where Yusaku brought his old duel disk to school which resembles the duel disk in battle city. In addition if you look at the tcg, both Black Luster Soldier and Relinquished who were originally ritual monsters got link retrains.

The eye of horus that apears at the begining of the first vrains intro now makes a lot more sense, it was extremely odd when you look at wrains in isolation

Wow, best theory i've seen in a long time. If Kaiba somehow made his own "Duel Links" in the manga, then that could explain how we ended up with Link Vrains and Speed Duels in the future.

I'm sold on the Ritual-Link connection, though I think it's more sensible for it to be an offshoot of the standard timeline as a result of Kaiba's traveling to the past at the end of DSOD to duel the Pharaoh. Without Kaiba in the present, Kaiba Corp was bought out by what eventually became Sol Tech, who developed Synchro and XYZ summoning WITHOUT their connected energy purposes as Kaiba wasn't alive to be the madlad to come up with using children's card games as an energy source. This explains how Synchro and XYZ summoning can exist without the advanced technology that their energy enabled.

Honestly, at first when I click on the video I didn't believe that you could have an explanation that Vrains IS the "Ritual Dimension". But it's a really good theory that I now believe and makes sense because if you think about it, Vrains don't have "Pendulums". Because as you said, Zarc was never got there.

Interesting connection between Vrains and DSoD. I was thinking that the height of ritual summoning was around Pharaoh Atem’s rule over Ancient Egypt. Without Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz energy; those summoning methods would have been harder to achieve leading to what we know as Master Rules 4 becoming standard once those methods were discovered. It wasn’t until later that Link Summoning was discovered that they were able to circumvent this limitation.

I was watching your "Why no one uses ritual summoning" video, and your mentioning of the Numeron Code crash landing on earth got me thinking: When Playmaker summons Firewall Dragon Darkfluid, it shows a substance striking the surface of a barren planet and bringing forth life, and I believe the summoning chant says something to that effect. Could there be a connection here, or at least similar origins of dueling-and life- in these universes? EDIT: I realized that the VERY SET in which Darkfluid was released may allude to this theory by it's own name: Chaos Impact!

So I think the main problem in this theory is the lack of dimensional dragon. As the whole reason for the split is ZARC and his 4 dragons along with the en cards of which there are 4 and every time the total dimensions are brought up they are brought up as 4 dimensions. We also see Alexis use ritual summoning even though she never went to another dimension and we have seen that outside of the summoning dimensions main mechanic they don’t really know about it like when synchro didn’t know about xyz, fusion, or pendulum summoning

I love poorly thought plot lines; they give room to this kind of interesting theories.

Ritual summons was actually gonna be the main Summon mechanic for the og duelist kingdom arc but it was changed last minute, black luster soldier was gonna be Yugis main ace monster.

ngl I just thought that the standard dimension was the ritual dimension the people who populated it using ritual monsters but falling out of fashion like you stated in your other vids because the same people were there from that time period, and all 3 other summoning methods were invented by similar people. but I still thought link vrains was just not cannon. your theory makes a lot of sense tho I would go with it.

I sincerely hope you consider my previously proposed theory that Yuma is the great grandson of Yusei and Akiza. I actually have another bit of evidence for this theory that I find particularly interesting. Yusei got his name because his father wanted him to be the kind of person that binds people together, much like the Yusei Particles for which he is named. What is Yuma’s most defining characteristic, something he considers so important to his own identity that was the cost he paid The Door of Destiny to get the power of Zexal? His ability to connect with other people through dueling. Maybe it’s just a generic protagonist characteristic, but I find it suspicious how Yusei and Yuma are the only protagonists who are explicitly defined by being able to bring people together. Maybe they share a connection? A distant familial one? Just food for thought.

I have a theory that builds on your older theory where yusei created XYZ. The fact is that yusei also created galaxy eyes cards as auxiliary back gates if something went wrong with xyz. The proof for me is your theory and the similarities between galaxy eyes and the stardust dragon and its accel versions, as well as the enemies who fought against the synchre, such as the meklord. This theory occurred to me when I was playing with a friend and I was shifting from a galaxy eyes package to a meclord, and I noticed some similarities. I hope you guys write me what you think of my theory. (And BTW this video is awesome)

I saw this in my feed and had a double-take. Screw everything I was about to do, this comes first, and you never disappoint! I had been thinking a bit about this myself after drawing the DSOD and SOLTech connection! It's awesome to see you back in action after all this time, and I'm looking forward to what you have in store for us next!

A few random thoughts: 1. One thing that may lend credence to this is the fact that DSoD and VRAINS came out around the same time (DSoD in 2016, VRAINS in 2017). 2. It's interesting to think that maybe the ritual dimension's versions of GX, 5Ds, and ZEXAL might be the manga versions since they follow a much different plot (at least GX and 5Ds, I know very little about the ZEXAL manga). 3. If this is true, it means that link summoning is like something straight out of Shin Megami Tensei. Turning ancient summoning rituals into programs that run on computers is a recurring theme in SMT games. 4. Of course it all links back to Seto Kaiba.

The Shadow Realm portion of this theory could also fit. Take a look at how dark the story is. Yusaku aka Playmaker is virtually undefeatable, but the more he wins in terms of the game, the more he loses outside of the game. His close allies either lose to his strongest enemies or they turn against him and he is forced to defeat them himself and they still suffer the same fate.

Playmaker obtained a Ritual and a Fusion Monster before the start of Season 2. If the Link Dimension really is a highly advanced Ritual Dimension, specifically sharing DM's timeline, this makes sense, because DM's main boss monster type was Rituals and Fusions. They would likely be the most readily available and easy to get, outside of Links, of course.

All of VRains I believe is one of the simulations AI ran. Starting with the final season where AI talked about how he ran simulations all feeling very real where they cannot co-exist AI and Playmaker. In the simulations, they ended with the destruction of earth and the death of playmaker. However, since the end with AI being deleted basically it is different. I believe Vrains is the simulation where the earth isn't destroyed and playmaker doesn't die. I believe its a simulation with the ending being the beginning of a new simulation with the creation of AI. Playmaker talks about how AI manipulated everything including helping playmaker get his deck makes it very strange. I feel it was one of the ways he was running simulations to try and have them co-exist with humans. Also with the technology Leap also very strange. There is no mention of Kaiba Corp or anything like that and With VR being used for the accident feels very weird when they had duel disk in previous series. I propose everything sets just before kaiba corp battle city when duel disk are widely avaliable. My reasoning is why is all the technology very low tech to our time outside of Vrains? in the simulations they show military technology from the 80s. Why is everything outside of vrains regular vehicles you find today? If kaiba corp did exist why would they need to basically VR in special rooms? the technology feels like old school scifi where in the 2000s where vr is in it's infant stages like the incident. I feel AI created the Link monsters in the ritual Dimension during the era of yugi muto and kaiba. which is why the technology has leaps of logic. Also the Android thing is a big leap of technology logic.

I find this theory very all around solid. Great job, my favorite dimension is Fusion cause I love fusion summoning the most.

Love this video! Rituals are my favorite summoning method and this makes me feel like I do have a home after all. Plus it makes so much sense! They were bringing out Ritual monsters (relatively) casually in VRAINS and they weren't even always boss monsters. Which was weird since at most other times that Ritual monsters were used the series Ritual monsters got a fuck ton of ceremony and were almost always the boss monster of that character's deck. But if this is the Ritual Dimension then it makes sense that no one here would consider it as special as other dimensions do.

Yup. So the branching goes like this: DM (manga) - GX (manga) - 5DS (manga) - Zexal (manga) - ArcV (anime) Then here's an intersection, Arc-V switching places with their continuation. The ArcV anime is on the manga timeline and viceversa. DM anime - GX anime - 5DS anime - Zexal anime - ArcV manga. Vrains would be born from the manga timeline AFTER the Arc V intersection. Making a 3rd line originating from the crossing point in where Arc v manga and anime switch places, because of the media the are distributed by. Not because of in universe reasons.

It's a good theory, just a couple holes with this: In Arc V, the world got split up based on Z-arc's ace monsters. which was an effect monster, fusion monster, synchro monster, and xyz monster, resulting in the standard, fusion, synchro, and xyz dimensions. In order for there to be a ritual dimension, there would need to be a ritual Dimension Dragon. The different worlds also know nothing of each other's summoning methods, such as the Synchro Dimension not knowing what a Xyz monster is. However we see ARC V Alexis using a ritual summoning deck, while Vrains has multiple uses of Synchro, Fusion and Xyz summoning The manga part of the theory is also very good, but with one hole: The arc v manga has pendulum summoning, which is a summoning method Z-arc invented, meanwhile Vrains clearly has no pendulum monsters as Z-arc never existed in the Vrains world, if it really was a continuation of the Manga, people would know and implement pendulum summoning

As someone who has only seen the 1st season of the original Yugioh anime and hasn't been playing the card game long but has enjoyed your Yugioh theories, here's my take. The events of Arc-V split the timeline and the Ritual dimension was an offshoot that never got involved in major events. Without Zarc around to screw up the timeline the events of the original manga happen with the big major exception that Fusion monsters are restricted from the start to only exist 1 per player at a time. (Don't know if this changes anything whatsoever.) Kaiba would later go on to discover Synchro like how in the original timeline he invented it, but finds it has the same innate summoning restrictions as Fusion. He tries to find ways around this, may or may not stumble upon XYZ and Pendulum as well, and eventually invents Link monsters, or gets close to inventing them. He may have been on the cusp of it but never fully realized them before Darkside of Dimensions, and if so someone else picked up where he left off. Events similar to that of GX probably happen but I doubt such a Fusion centered era would go unaffected by the restrictions and this creates divergence, however minor. By the end the timeline has diverged enough that Vrains is the Ritual dimension equivalent of the 5Ds era, and this timeline never gets the events of 5Ds nor of Zexal. Hope to see that timeline video sometime. You said ya want it out soon as possible but it's been 8 months. Guess it got pushed back between those deck profiles and Master Duel coming out or something. Good luck with it my dude.

I do really like your theory. Maybe, this is the dimension Reiji saw there at the end of the Arc-V anime. Additionally, I know it's impossible, but I would have loved for this to be like a fifth dimension. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Vrains; however, I can't stop myself from imagining an alternative world. One where this is where some legacy character from Duel monsters were. I mean, it's perfect with the introduction of so many legacy ritual monsters. The Cyberse and Trickstar deck could have been really fitting for a Yu boy and Bracelet girl.

Ok, manga aside, I like the idea that vrains is the ritual dimension. I found this video and a couple others of yours because I'm rewatching Arc V atm. Thanks for the idea.

I think that sevens is gonna highlight each summoning mechanic in a lot of detail. Like we just got fusion, so I think next arc we’ll get ritual, then synchro, then XYZ, then pendulum and finally link, making 7 summoning methods including maximum.

Mine was yugioh gx but your theory does make me bring up something I've thought about. And that's maybe a reboot of the show with a more streamlined story.

So what if Kaiba time traveling is the breaking point? Zarc (from what little I know, I'm only in 5Ds right now) can't time travel, so Kaiba traveling back in time affected reality. Rather than the 4 separate universes it brings them all into the same timeline. But as you said, the various special summons are weaker here, which could also be explained by the fact that they all occupy the same reality. One cannot exceed another in power as then it would become the dominant force. My point is that no matter what universe or special summoning mechanic, Seto freaking Kaiba has ruined the multiverse. I think we just proved that Seto Kaiba is stronger than Goku.

Huh this actually ended up sounding a lot more plausible than I thought it would be. Plus vrains doesn't have pendulums at all and zarc said he created pendulums so it makes sense that this is a timeline untouched by zarc

i know it's technically filler but Noah Kaiba did live in a virtual simulation and he did use a ritual monster so maybe that ties in somehow also maybe the reason why there weren't many ritual monsters was due to Kaibas disdain of the past so maybe he decided not to print ritual cards as he saw them as relics from the past. After he came to accept the past he started printing more ritual cards going as far as to print a ritual support for his blue eyes and 2 new ritual forms for his blue eyes.
