Smelly dying actually almost made me tear up how is a video game this sad,my god. I’m glad the child escaped the dad, he deserved his freedom after being tortured over and over again, being hit by a bat over and over, his anger reaching his limits, and Smelly dying triggered his wrath.

Without yub’s commentary and gameplay, sheesh, I wouldn’t have survived through this game

Its scary and sad to think,that thousands of times before stuff like this has actually happened.Fathers who are alcoholics or drug addicts will end up being horrible towards their family.Sadly not all stories have a happy ending.

This is literally so depressing for the kid. If I were the kid at 22:42 I would be REALLY pissed. The dad would probably not be able to survive for the first time he attacked him if I were him.

I don’t have a family like this or a family that is abusive and some sort of way, but I send out kindness and love to the people that must live like this or somewhat like it. (also Smelly’s death made me sob)

That description of the game is very specific. "1997, Haddonfield, Illinois." Who was designing this game and said "Yeah let's just make a random town in the Midwest the setting"

God that was tough to watch. Having known people that have gone through some rather bad physical abuse it's hard to stomach. I've also been the victim of neglect (though not abuse) myself, so seeing a kid have to live in absolute squalor effects me on a personal level.

I know this video was a year ago...but the fact that the kids life is literally falling apart while he's on the tip of reaching insanity, while his father is beating him 24/7 for no reason and he can never get a break? Damn man... This game is dark, ill never get over the loss of smelly, I've watched this when I was younger and I was terrified... I watched it again to see if I've gotten less afraid of what could happen in the dark side of humanity, and I haven't not one bit, as I'm typing this comment I'm almost about to cry, and that might make me seem like I'm emotionally weak, but still overall this game is dark and F E A R enducing, my legs are shaking as I type this comment, I cannot explain how I'm feeling in words it's like a mix of sadness, fear, and anxiety all building up... But luckily Yub was there as I watched making the gameplay funnier and less dark than it really is I'm Traumatized and terrified...

As someone whos lost a pet in a similar way this game did not fail to represent how It felt, like you discover it and it hits you like a train, its such a good game and good showing of that (I may have cried :,] )

The fact that I had to watch that two times to realize that smelly was actually dead made me so sad to the point where I almost actually cried… I also knew exactly how the kid felt when he was crying in that scene. rip smelly our only real friend in the entire entire game…

Personally, the darkest ending for me is /spoiler alert/ the one where you let the dad kill you at the end. The newspaper says that you suffered from a rare disease, and after the dad killed you, he commited suicide. Personally, it’s so dark because despite the abuse the dad put you through, he still couldn’t live with ending your life.
