Kazuki Takahashi said GX was sort of his token of appreciation for the tail-end/youngest millennials who supported Yu-Gi-Oh! “Generation Next” was actually the original name for the Millennial generation, which is where Yu-Gi-Oh! GX gets its name from. I’m a little older than you, so I remember watching DM as a kid. But I distinctly remember being like 8 years old and looking up to Yugi and Kaiba, but with GX it felt like I was just watching me and my friends. Which would make sense since Jaden is around 15 years old at the start of the series and a lot of us were 12-13 when it aired in America. Watching the sub really made me appreciate the series more than it just being one big meme in the dub (which is great in its own way). It’s really a coming of age story and you see Jaden’s loss of innocence throughout the series as he matures. It’s actually a really deep series in terms of content and character development, which is why the dub is so disliked by many who like GX. Jaden doesn’t really get a happy ending by the end of the series, he just sort of learns to survive. I think it’s really quite powerful for a Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime.

Die Hard GX Defender. I remember getting Tag Force. Where you get to be a student at the school, talk to the main cast and even background students and duel them as well and during the duels you will see 3D animations of the characters about every move they will do. To me, that was just the coolest Yu-Gi-Oh thing at the time.

Yugioh gx has some of my favorite deck archetypes. (Fossils, cyberdark , armed dragon, arcana force ) plus gx made me actually like trench coats cuz they made wearing one look cool af

You're not the only one YuGiOh GX was actually the first yugioh series i ever watched and what draw my attention was the characters most notably jaden yuki his nature personality really got to me and got me interested to the point I became very interested and obsessed with jaden

Yeah alot of fans would Dissagree I'm definitely not one of them though I've watched almost all the yugioh series excluding the rush shows and still currently on arc v but out of all of them GX is my favourite.

GX does get a lot of flack in the west for it's 1st season, mainly. Like you said, it's a nice break from the more serious DM series. The dub is hilarious but man the subbed SLAPS! Especially with the music. Btw watch Zexal, it's good. Everyone is wrong.

its sick, gx was fun addicting and cool. Jadens development is insane and awesome. His deck is fantastic. 5ds is the best objectively but gx is so so so cool and dark and deep. Even the butchered dub is so fun to watch

I‘m a lot younger than you but I watched Gx when I was around fifteen and I love Gx to the end, Jaden especially, he is my fav and no one can change that. Gx literally shows how Jaden goes from a happy-go-lucky kid to a matured adult and not only that, in my opinion Jaden is not giving the respect he deserves because that boy has fought the light of destruction and darkness himself, two beings that no other protagonist in the whole Yu-gi-oh universe has fought and no one but Jaden and his friends know exist. Not only that but Jaden is the one responsible for keeping the balance between darkness and light, he is the vessel of the gentle darkness/ good darkness, wich I think people forget is a big responsibility.💜

The original was made to tell a story, the rest were made to sell the cards. Despite that they were all still great but if we're going off the dub GX was worst one next to maybe Zexal. Melontree was absolutely right about how 4kids ruined the series, the Japanese version really is great but the dub almost feels like a parody of GX. GX was at it's best when it was serious and developing it's characters, when it was telling a story. That's what makes the anime good.

First season of gx is 70% filler and has the most underwelming final antagonist of any yugioh show, season 2 was decent seasons 3 and 4 were mostly good
