I got dumped by Andja, by Kate and by Reza, but not by my faithful machinegun (x2). I shall enter a most faithful marriage with her (my machinegun), as long as she sings to me: "truck-a-truck-a-truck" (x2) She hangs on my shoulder, she sleeps on my heart, when I chase fasciscts, she gives me six wings! (x2) Her metal is warm, her weight is light, her shout is thunderous, "truck-a-truck-a-truck"! (x2) I got dumped by Andja, by Kate and by Reza, but not by my faithful machinegun (x2). @tara k exactly, it's mere onomatopoeia of shooting, of course the point is not that a partisan plays with a toy-lorry full of candies on his carpet. If you prefer, use "trakatrakatrak", it's like "ra-ta-ta-ta".

No wonder they're singing about their machine gun. Guerilla forces - even such extensive ones like the Yugoslav partisans - always suffered from lack of heavy weaponry. In small unit engagements even one old battered down LMG could mean a difference between victory and death

Yeah since they were mostly equipped with captured Karabiner 98k and Italian Carcano, as well as domestic M24 (licensed Kar 98k), especially before Western Allies started supplying equipment via air drops in late 1943.

Photo used for this clip btw is shot on the day operations for liberation of Belgrade started, October 19 1945. Soldiers (including girl-soldiers) are listening to the motivation speech. Glory to the combatants.

Are you sure? The colour of the flag seems Croatian. Given how the red star has the same shade as the top of the flag.

@@andro7862 It's a Yugoslav partisan flag. The order of colors was not important at the time, all these flags were OURS in 1944.

Well, it's сharacteristically onomatopoeia for slavic languages. In Russian language, we also pronounce the sound of a machine gun firing in a similar way (We have many other onomatopoeias for firearms firing).

By the way, in russian language there is a obscene word "Ebat'sya" (jebátʹsja) and it means not only "to have sex" but also "to do difficult work" (for example, to repair a machine gun).

Vladimir Nazor je bio Hrvat, a napisao je pjesmu o stradanju Srba (Majka pravoslavna), kakvu nije nijedan Srbin. Ne dijeli nas dodatno, ionako smo podijeljeni.
