i think for a Korean artist its an amazing thing to see non korean/asian backup dancers.

It just kind of seems like international dancers have more "soul" compared to Korean back up dancers if you know what I mean

Linda N korean back up dances are usually just trainees and all, they’re sorta asked not to bring attention to themselves too so it’s understandable why theyd be stiffer compared to hired proffesionals

kaneki ken Actually it's quite rare a trainee will be a backup dancer unless they're set for debut, but otherwise everything else is accurate! Backup dancers in Korea are asked not to express facially because they could over shadow the idol, and since the focus is on synchronization, individuality isn't really something thats to be seen in the dancing. Although synchronization is great, it was really refreshing to see something new here where the dancers are allowed to smile and it really added to Hyolyn's performance and made it more fun to watch.

Take for example Chungha's dancers for her new song. The guy that dances with her is often seen in the background. I've noticed he just stares at the floor or at her face and has a very serious look on his face while the song is very bright and fun itself. Hyolyn's dancers sing along a little bit too and you can see they're having a lot of fun on stage which is needed for a summery song

Hyolyn is literally getting my favorite dancers on Insta to choreograph her new music and I LOVE it! Nocole Kirkland choreographed this and this is her crew dancing with Hyolyn on stage. I am so proud of Kirkland Crew and Hyolyn!

There's nothing controversial or risky about the music itself, it's the performance that's likely to get her a few hate comments here and there.

I love Hyolyn AND this performance... but I think KBS edited in some of the crowd cheers? Everytime you see the crowd they don't look like clapping/cheering. :(

The race of the dancers doesn't matter, as long as they can dance. Comments like yours may make you feel all nice and fluffy, but you're looking at race. You need to look at people and not see race.
