Well not quite, she leaves the sustained notes to achieve these trills - they're not 4-5. Don't get me wrong, it's an outstanding performance, but this shortcut WAS taken - most pianists take it, no harm done.

@@LisztianGR The notes you're referring to are only a quaver in length so aren't asked to be sustained for the full length of the trill.

You are absolutely right... but I specify all this in my introduction in two languages, French and English (during the first 50 seconds), where I also indicate the (slight) difference between Yuja's choice and Michelangeli's one.

Her plastic sound and her lack of whatsoever imagination don't stand comparison with ABMs prodigious renditions.

If you had taken the time to read carefully, you would have understood that Yuja Wang's version is unique in the sequencing of the variations, not in the interpretation. As for the latter, it may not be "unique", but it is certainly rare, and certainly not inferior to Cziffra's.

Operation Save classical music: It is something of a tradition for pianists to pick and choose variations from both books to create their own performing version.

As I wrote in my previous comment, I am talking about LIVE performances. Also, I find it infuriating when someone criticizes a recording or an artist with such arrogance. It really isn’t fair (in this particular recording) not to take in consideration all the godlike things she is doing with relatively small hands.
