These Variations, as played here by Yuja Wang, have a story, which you can read at the beginning of this recording. Yuja Wang's version is unique, but her choices are faithful to Brahms' intentions!
Ces Variations, telles qu’elles sont jouées ici par Yuja Wang, ont une histoire, que vous pourrez lire au début de cet enregistrement. La version de Yuja Wang est unique, mais ses choix sont fidèles aux intentions de Brahms!

This rendition of Brahms Paganini shows us how poetic and colourfull might be this magnificient piece if played in the right way (despite most of people thinks it is just viruosistic). Brahms' inventivness has no limit.

Well not quite, she leaves the sustained notes to achieve these trills - they're not 4-5. Don't get me wrong, it's an outstanding performance, but this shortcut WAS taken - most pianists take it, no harm done.

If you’d like to hear Yuja Wang’s 2009 Verbier performance of the Brahms in the correct key (A Minor instead of G-Sharp Minor, as it is here), use this link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r751rKmUkp3VZZs.htmlsi=3KC-ELfVbzTtJxZL The alternate upload is audio only-no Yuja, no score-but it includes some nice pictures of Brahms. Thank you for your comment. On my channel, I publish videos that I rework, and to which I bring a "plus". So I'm not going to publish the "raw" video (which I actually don't have in HD). But I want to tell you that the video as I published doesn't cut off any part of the image: so you have the whole video, and I hope that the addition of the score is more a richness than a flaw!

@@IEEMAZ_Convoluted_14.2.8.5 Do you really imagine that I have modified the recording? Or, even more absurdly, that Yuja played a semitone too low? The on-screen text at the start of this vid declared wang's performance to be unique. Why? Why is it unique? I personally can't hear a SINGLE unique phrasing or approach in this. You should listen to Cziffra's recording - THAT's unique!
@eusebiusetflorestan2532
@eusebiusetflorestan2532 10 ай бұрын
If you had taken the time to read carefully, you would have understood that Yuja Wang's version is unique in the sequencing of the variations, not in the interpretation. As for the latter, it may not be "unique", but it is certainly rare, and certainly not inferior to Cziffra's.

@@spiritussanctusband Kissin’s version is a studio recording. You might not know that in that occasion, one can literally cut every single bar and adjust wrong notes. As I wrote in my previous comment, I am talking about LIVE performances. Also, I find it infuriating when someone criticizes a recording or an artist with such arrogance. It really isn’t fair (in this particular recording) not to take in consideration all the godlike things she is doing with relatively small hands.
