The best part about this series is how Soma isn't afraid to admit he's messed up and genuinely learns from it. He doesn't pretend to be some kind of wunderkind or a prodigy, he's a dude that loves to cook and puts everything he has into it.

In his shokugeki against Erina, Soma does not seek to win, after seeing Erina's state, he simply wants her to go back to who she was, basically he wants to remind her, it's funny because before that he, before his fight, thinks about her and in everything they went through together, something that was not shown in the manga, ironic and fucking adorable

His father seeing his son perfect his mothers dish and absolutely killing it. He knew his opponent had no chance.

I love how the epitome of all cooking is the one that reminds you of your mom's cooking. When you make a dish and it reminds others of their mother's cooking than that's the highest compliment anyone can receive, because no matter how big you are mothers will always be there on a pedestal that no one can ever compare.

2:47 I couldn't help by cry when I see this. She is the spitting image of Soma, Her headband she passed on to Soma after her death broke me but he dedicated his entire life to honor her by making this dish. In a way Tamako was there with his Son every step of the way.

This was a perfect realistic dish. Fried rice is extremely flexible with ingredients. You can put an leftovers or an array of ingredients and it would still taste good. To top it of this was the first fish Soma learned. Good way to also bring it full circle. Wish for better closure in the end though. May be an OVA?

What really amazes me is that customers would pay and gamble if Souma's mom will produce a good or a bad dish. These are not just customers. They have a more intimate relationship with that diner because they love the chefs-owners. Goes to show what kind of people they are:)

I always laugh at how stupid the characters react everytime they eat soma's dish. But when they start spitting facts about the food, the taste it's origins and etc i'm instantly reminded to be amazed at how much research and thought was put in to this show. Also, that "taste of failure" part is just so real. I like the show when it's spitting facts.

I like the fact that the series shows how soma’s dish is good when the judges started quickly digging in to the dish. It reminds me of one instance in master chef where one of the contestant’s dish was so good that even gordon ramsey licked his share of the dish clean.

This aint soma's final dish even if its only the story... He still has the dish in the finals and also the dish at the end of the story even though it was not explained...

This last dish ties the series up pretty well. All the inside jokes about disgusting food throughout the series that seemed so humorously pointless; they were all ways for Soma to keep his mother’s memory alive.

In my cooking philosopy, I rarely see an entire dish as a failure. I usually see a component as a failure. Due to that I try try again but I do something different until I get it right. That is the magic of cooking, the quest to discover the perfect combination and the perfect technique for one dish, so the person who takes their first bite of the finished product will say wow. Success is built on failure, no one ever truly gets things right the time.

Both of them slowly moved up the ladder after learning so much in Totsuki academy, but unlike his father, Soma never forgot the reason behind his passion for cooking, it wasn’t to prove that he was the best chef, but it was simply because he enjoyed it🥲

I still am happy that I predicted this, at this scene before his dish was presented I was like "It's gonna be something simple right? It's gonna be Fried Rice, isn't it?" with a smirk on my face while I was filled with confidence.

one of the big reasons i love anime, is it teaches you it's okay to fail, that failure is natural, but it doesn't spell the end, if you work hard enough you can turn it around the next time, you can turn a failure into a victory it's something a prodigy with never understand, they spend the entire lives with natural born talent so they rarely experience failure, anime has taught us to take failure alongside with wins, and make it yours improve it till its no longere a failure

As a cook myself, I can join in this statement. Only way to truly learn how to cook, is to fail here and there. If you always succeed, you can never truly learn what is the cause for your good food. Without knowing what makes your food truly good, you can never make it better. If you only follow a recipe to the microgram, you can never make food that is yours. You will always just replicate what others have made. But to learn how to make your own food, you have to also learn what are the limits, when do you do too little and when do you do too much. Merely learning what level of salt to use in your dish for each specific serving is no simple task, you will fail at that too when cooking sometimes. And that's just SALT, the cornerstone of any flavoring.

You know foodwars is part of shonen and when there's shonen we all know who's gonna be eating all those delicious food Luffy and Goku: US Naruto: give me all the ramen that you have!!! The other rest of the shonen characters: me too but we have limits

I remember the first time I tasted a fried rice from a Thai restaurant, I fell in love with it. Now, everytime I go to a Thai restaurant I always order fried rice along side of an entree.

Quite the bold dish. Crossing just two regional flabor profiles is a challenge, but you'd have to be legendary to get 5 together in one dish and have it be palatable, let alone delicious.
