You should think about bringing a good dog along with you on your adventures. I don't know how well they would stay in the kayak, but I've seen trappers on or near Lake Baikal bring their dogs on their little kayak like boats. Also, a good dog would alert you better to the Bears and even give you more time if one tried to attack you by distracting it long enough for you to kill it before it kills you. Especially if you're talking about going above the Arctic Circle where there are polar bear.

lots of great comments, and plenty of critics. Don't listen to any of them. You never claimed to be an expert at any one thing - except being able to be out there and do well. You ate well, you got your fires started, you stayed alive and healthy. The rest doesn't matter. Your video was very enjoyable. I'll be watching the new Alaska one next!

A really nice and interesting video. An incredibly exciting and nice trip you were on. Last week I was actually at a lecture with the Danish adventurer "Erik B. Jørgensen". He and the girlfriend actually made the trip from source to sea on 78 days and 3,200 km ( if I rembember correctly ) in double kayak this summer. It had been a great trip - so you just have to go again I should think :) Thank you for a really good video - and good trip ahead.

@@briztia I need to say one thing here...I am 70 years old now and when my late hubby was still alive, we wilderness fished and camped in Maryland, Virginia, Pa, and then Kentucky...I am left handed and whenever I used one of his right handed rods, I held it upside down too...lol Just thought I'd mention that...not sure that's what's happening here, but just thought about it, when you mentioned him holding it upside down. Of course, I have a left handed rod too, but often times, I still used on of my hubbies. I loved watching this video so much...I wouldn't have noticed the rod...it's just how I am and I know how things worked for me, being left-handed. Take care and enjoy

I agree with all previous comments and found this video very enjoyable and interesting to watch. I made sure to like and subscribe! Since I haven’t read all previous comments, I don’t know if anyone had noticed and mentioned something about a large mole on your lower back on the right side. I noticed it immediately when you were kayaking without a shirt. It looks like you don’t have many moles so this one jumped out at me. The rule is - btw one of several rules - if larger than a pencil eraser you must get it examined or preferably taken off and biopsied. Melanoma is often found on the back with men, on the legs with women. Not exclusively but often. Please do me a favor and see a dermatologist. My late boyfriend died of skin cancer not long ago (Merkel Cell Carcinoma, even worse than melanoma but rare) and I want to see you on your next trip above the artic circle in good health! :-) 👍🏼❤️

I'm not complaining but your drag was set way too light and you had your real upside down I'm sure you know that I've seen people on and off for the last 50 years try to fish that way it's much easier if you have it on the bottom and if the handles on the wrong side switch it around it's much more comfortable

I was waiting for that lump of timber to fall out of the axe head and clean knock him out (when he was splitting the log early in the vid). Who takes a dull axe out into the wild? Two other highlights were the tin of cooking spray that ran out... did he really think an aerosol cooking spray would be enough for frying fish and making bread etc?? Highlight two was his comment about not really knowing how to cook with tin foil?? Jesus? Is this bloke still living with his mum?

I just did a week solo kayak fishing camping trip from my little Red Ceder River to the Chippewa then to the Mississippi. I clicked on your video one day before I ledt. I was very busy so I only made it to the part where you made bread. I was already bring pancake mix so I grabbed some flower as well and used both. Man your bread idea added some awesome variety to my limited food supply. Thank you very mich for that. Every day after dinner I looked forward to it as a night time snack when I was catfishing before bed.

Looks like you had good weather,, I floated the Noatak and the Coleville, smaller than the Yukon,, I did both trips in early sept,,, lots of Caribou,, Moose, Wolf, Sheep, Grizz, and a few Muskox, we caught lots of Grayling, Artic Char and a few Salmon,, they were spawned out though

@50:00 wow ! it's so amazing to see what people build, not just for themselves, but for the use of strangers as well...we should all feel PROUD of our practice to "leave it better than you found it" that is ingrained in our culture. what an inviting place, especially on a cold/wet night.
