There is only one Yul Brynner. No other actor had his looks, his range of talents, his energy, and his capacity to draw others into the spell of his charm.
Subscribe for more Hollywood Collection! geni.us/HollywoodCollectionSub
A true sophisticate of deliberately mysterious origins, Yul Brynner was at home in a wide variety of languages and social environments. At an early age, he found his perfect role in The King And I.
The Academy Award-winning success that might have become a trap for a lesser star, became the ongoing glory of his career from the peak of his stardom to his untimely death. Including clips from The King And I, The Ten Commandments, Anastasia, The Magnificent Seven, The Brothers Karamazov, and Westworld, and interviews with former wife Doris Brynner, children Rock Brynner and Victoria Brynner, actors Eli Wallach, Rita Moreno, director John Frankenheimer and others.

I was 9 years old when Yul Brenner came to London to perform Anna And The King. I went with my Nan and Mum. I was in absolute tears at the end and for the applause. I was already a very young fan of his movies and was absolutely besotted with him as a child. Forever imbedded in me, he was beautiful, strong and charismatic to me and his voice made me melt. I loved his performances in film and on stage. To this day, Yul Brenner has left an indelible mark. ❤❤❤

That's why old movies and movies stars like him who are very unique their acting or the actors themselves can never be duplicate. I had once read this in one of the books call the prediction of the year 2000. It said that careers in Acting can NEVER be duplicate by a computer 🖥 and the unique Actors and Actress will be the highest paid. So you go figure.

I'll have the king's laugh in my ear for the rest of my life, so iconic he was. Charlton and Yul are eternal cultural landmarks for our republic and nation. I've often told others who ask "how will I know that we've passed the point of no return"? And I tell them "when you can no longer find The Ten Commandments listed on network television in the month of April, the show is over. Literally.

Baby, Yul Brynner was finer than wine in the summer time & had the best legs & the most intense eyes in Hollywood. He was strong, masculine, firm & no nonsense. If you look up King in the dictionary, you’d see his picture. He was the personification of the word in the way that he portrayed himself. Who else could have played Ramses? And so it was written & so it was done. The rest was history.

Evidently, Rock Brynner got his dad's voice; Victoria got her dad's smoldering dark eyes! I've seen every single one of his movies, some of them several times. In 1972, I became the proud owner of a photo of Yul autographed to me by Yul, which today hangs in my living room. He signed it at his Malibu home, when I worked for Pepperdine University at the Chancellor's home in Malibu. Yul is, and will always remain, my very favorite actor.

I discovered Yul Brynner when I was 16 years old at a drive-in theater watching Westworld. I was fascinated by his entire aspect. That smoldering glance, that resonant voice! I was smitten. Then I saw The Ten Commandments, The King and I with Deborah Kerr, and The Magnificent Seven. What a man! I've been in love with him ever since (as many women are I am sure) even though the 16 year old kid is now a 63 year old woman. RIP Yul Brynner. You will always have my heart.

I was blessed to see him on stage in the play "The King and I", in Portland OR. He was outstanding. We all stood and clapped at the end of him singing about the bees and flowers, as well as stood and clapped at the end of the play. I had a friend who delivered pizza several times to him at the end of a very long driveway and he always answered the door and had a chat. He loved talking and sharing. After he passed from lung cancer 1985, I think, he had made a commercial about how dangerous smoking was. Such a loss. To this day I miss him, and wonder what would his next role would be.

@@gregpickett8816 Yes. I read his son's biography of his father. he has great respect but there were some difficulties including that Rock's mother was an alcoholic. Rock is also a historian and I can see why he might refer to his father by his first name. To be clear, late, great my mother is a woman I love and respect, but I often refer her by first name, if the person I am speaking with, knows who I am referring to "As Ellen Vaughn would say, be kind to others, even when you disagree" and so on.

@@gregpickett8816 and Pogglethe we ARE animals anyway. We need to stop looking down on other species. We are narcissists and just horrible toward all life around us. Animal does not equate to monster the latter of which quite often humans are! In any case you should read Rock’s biographical book. I love Yul but you should always listen to people’s accounts and opinions. Undoubtedly Yul was a very attractive, charismatic and talented man. We all have our areas of lack though. How a person is in his professional life doesn’t reflect who he is in his private life. There are people who see their parents as a best friend and refer to them by first name and others who have trauma stemming from their relationship with a parent so they speak of a father by his first name for instance. Please don’t judge unless you are fully aware of all facts.
