Those who are born on January and February usually are considered as fast birth. They can start school a year earlier. So for example yunho is born in 1986 but in February so he joined school with the 1985 kids. In a way he's older than the other 1986 friends. That's why he emphasise the use of hyung and oppa.

Yeah and this early year birth thing gets really tricky sometimes. In his case he may see 1985 kids as same age friends and want 1986 kids to call him hyung or oppa but other 1986 kids may not agree and see him as equal because he is also born in 1986, fast or not.

I think Jaejoong’s the only 86er I know who Yunho considers as same age-friends (He called Jae, hyung for a while tho during their early years) Coz most of his friends are 85ers. Tho it’s probably bc Jaejoong was born a few days earlier than Yunho.

Not really. It depends on the relationship between the student and the teacher. We also have that concept where even though some of our classmates are 1 yr older but we still treat them as same age friends. But its still obvious u have to call someone properly if they're older than you. Especially when we also have the same concept when calling someone older than us like manang, manong or ate, kuya. And it really depends on the person. I once joined an organization in my school and there were senior-junior thing. I had a senior who is the same age as I am, but were not in the same grade, he's 1 grade advance and also joined the organization earlier me so I still call him manong.

Here in my family, 'kakak' for big sister, and 'abang' for big brother, just for the first and second child, and calling the rest by name. All of this start because my kakak born in 93, my abang in 94, i born in 95, and my little brother in 96 (1 year and 12 days apart from me). My little brother called me by name so when my little sister born in 99 and another little brother born in 2002, we just calling each other name without title 'kakak' and 'abang'...

Atika Melati he was born in February Eunhyuk on April and Donghae on October so for Korean Standard age Yunho is older tnan both of them even they're born in the same year as well as Eunhyuk and Donghae :Donghae should call Eunhyuk hyung but then these two dorks are quiet insolent that they never used formalities with each other😂😂😂:

That Korean age rule is often a cause of fight among idols hahaha. You can just read the comments below. Kyu & Wookie also had a fight over it during early yrs of SJ cos RW is quite uncomfortable with Kyuhyun treating him as a same age friend. But Kyuhyun insists that since they started school at the same time, they are same age friends. HAHA.

So complicated. In my country, I enrolled to school the same as those in my year.. no matter you are born beginning or the end of the year. As long as if you are born in that year, all enrol to school at the same time. That's why I am almost always the youngest in my year as I was born towards the end of the year. LOL!

I think Japanese and Korean take the age very important more than other Asian culture. In Vietnam, we say hi and bow only to elderly. And for US, haha u can call someone 10 years older as friend

The reason why Koreans take age seriously has a lot to do with Korean language. There are many honorifics in Korean language that a younger person must use when speaking to an older person. We cant just use the same words or honotlrifics for an older person as we do for an younger person. So the reason why Koreans ask age when they first meet someone for the first time is because they have to choose the right words and honorifics according to the other person's age.

in my country (malaysia) also have people born early such as in one week early beginning in january.. they will get into school early.. *for example* she born in 7/1/2000.. so she will get into school same as the one whos born in 1999.. so yeah she will graduate from school early.. n the one who also dont know her true age while they also same age, will call her Akak means (eonni) haha... not just girl, boys also if he born in early of january.. so yeahh its very benefit for them to get graduate from school early.. *Thats why maybe Somi make Everyday is my Birthday* 😂😂😂

To Koreans if you talk to someone older you must used honorofic form or polite form but if you're close friend with someone you are talking to even his only a year older and both of you agreed to drop the honorific terms and just talk casually that don't consider as disrespectful. Maybe that's why they're very sensitive with age.

He's 33 this year for actual age. For Korean age, you add another year on January 1, so everyone born in 1986 is considered 34 there. Buuuut, since Yunho was born in February, before the Lunar New Year, he got to start school a year earlier with the 1985 kids, who are 35 in Korean age this year. It's super confusing and some people don't care about it while some don't.

Koreans really values the ‘who born first’ and ‘friends’ formality. While here in Malaysia, we just dont care and it depends on that person and the situations. Usually we just call the other person by name. Doesnt matter if he/she has 1 or 10 years age differences 😂

Wow I just found out Yunho was actually born in 1985. That means he is actually older than Jaejoong but he used to call him hyung at some point, didn't he?

No he was born in 1986 but went to school with those of 1985 because he was born early in the year, international age he turns 33 in 4 days

Yunho has same case Suho. He went to school a year early so he friend with people one year old from him and treat them as friend (means like same aged friend) But it get complicated later on with real same aged people. Thats why Korean always sorted out first what should they called each other. Like Yunho said in this show. I guess one day in future. Some rule will be make because this complicated things happen. 😂

@@xXTheRedrubyXx No. When they asked him "Were you born in 1985?" he clearly said "Yes". I guess registering birth dates later used to be also a thing in Korea. I know cause my birth day was also registered late (like more than two years and I hate it honestly).

They're both born 1986 but jaejoong bdate is earlier than yunho. Jaejoong is jan. 26 while Yunho is feb.6 and both considered 1985 coz they're born in early 1986. Korean age are like this so complicated and hard to explain 😂😂

In the lunar calendar the year of 1986 started on Feb the 8th if I'm not mistaken. Yunho went to school with everyone born in 1985 because he was born early in the year . So the real answer is yes he was born on Feb 6 1986 if you're going by the Gregorian calendar.

That is why korean dun have friends😂 they are too strict on formal and informal.Must call big brother even one year older or maybe one month older😂

Why don’t Koreans just use they’re real age? I wasn’t a fast birth but went to school earlier because I already knew how to read, write and so on and skipped first class... so I’m practically two years older in Korea??! (I’m not bragging I’m just slightly confused on how this system works)
