Truly majestic, to see his development from teenage years to now, his discarding of all theatrics, the simple and wonderful beauty of his understanding of Chopin...

Anyone who says anything bad about this because they have heard better, you should be ashamed. This guy puts so much hard work into his playing. Just because someone else is better doesn't mean you have the right to say its bad.... This is no way or form is bad. You know if you say anything bad about him you are worse. No one at his level of playing or beyond is ignorant enough to even give the impression they think hes bad.

I love to see Yundi Li playing. I believe that among the compositions of Chopin, the sonatas are the most difficult to interpret and Yundi Li’s performance is fantastic in this sonata. Thank you very much for posting this video of one of my favorite pianists.

Fantastic! Impeccable technique allows Yundi to play this music at his will, and get an outstanding result. Too fast? I have heard this sonata a thousand times in all sorts of tempos, and I like them all. Even in his rather fast interpretation, it is ALL THERE. Every nuance I recognize from slow "expressive" interpretations is present here. Good expression, good dynamics. A little unique, differentiated from other versions, and this is typical of Yundi Li.

A life lived spoken with single notes at times and unison at others, it tells the story of someone's life perhaps you, from the moment you are born it strikes with impetus and pomposity it morphs to happiness being hit with melancholy at times and reaching maturity and understanding at last the message of the reason and love, it then leads to the sudden dismay of life itself as a light that its extinguished, to an authentic death promenade and showing the peace that may await after life, then the unavoidable the utopy of purge and judgement churning relentlessly at one's end. ALL TOLD WITH MUSIC, Chopin a music prodigy.

@cordeliadegraaf7434
@cordeliadegraaf7434 9 жыл бұрын
+Jakub Tryzna I would think it is sweat as it is particularly difficult to perform on the piano while crying___try it! I had a very dear friend who was a conductor and after a performance perspired so profusely that I could hardly get near him for at least 15 minutes! Piano performance is, of course, an art but before being transmuted into this it is a 'sport' so to speak hence it has all of the physical manifestations of such.

In the sheet music, for the final movement, I think it says something like "Play as fast as you possibly can." If you're curious as to how fast is it possible to play notes on a piano, just listen to the 3rd movement of Chopin's Funeral March.
@MuffyMuffins
@MuffyMuffins 5 жыл бұрын
I imagine the last movement to be a series of quick images flitting through the mind, the life 'flashing before the eyes' as it were. There's a sort of simultaneous ascension and falling into death, into the final bang of... whatever comes after.

The asian Berezovsky. I'm in awe, I discovered him playing Liszt's "La Campanella" : it's simply stuning. This version of the Chopin's second sonata is not my favorite, though. However, I still appreciate much listening to it. The march is very nicely played.

I'm the first to admit my tin ear, but I hear nothing in this performance to fault. I don't blame the audience for erupting at the end of the first movement; The energy was there, the enthusiasm was there, the emotion was there. It was spontaneous and inevitable.
@lushkie
@lushkie 8 жыл бұрын
+5610winston I disagree. Audiences that attend classical music performances SHOULD know the proper theatre etiquette, and they don't. Schools once taught music appreciation - most unfortunately, that is long gone. But still that is no excuse for not knowing how to properly respect the performer. It can be very distracting to the pianist and breaks the mood.

as he himself said, despite of the culture difference, it's the very humanity allows him to interpret the spirit of music, either occidental or oriental. PS: we need to be trained and learn how to appreciate the music without obvious melodic. Classical music is a beautiful but also esoteric.

That's all I ever wanted, just to make beautiful music such like this, but my generation only listens to rap and pop and I cant support that, or change it. So what will I do with my life.. this music is making me think once again idk why I'm even writing this, I'm 17 years old i shou lm d be out with friends rn, good day to anyone seeing this
