It’s the inflection pattern of “hey”, the eg and the drum dropouts or holds that make it sound like the chorus in Heart Shaped Box. Definitely hear the Nirvana sound. Even if unintentional, great way to show homage to one of the best bands.

I enjoy his music too but saying he’s “different from the rest” is pretty disingenuous, he’s obviously taking inspiration from a lot of punk/rock music from the 80s-90s and it sounds extremely similar lmao (again, not to say it’s bad. He still makes good music)

I love the raspiness of his voice, it brings me back to the Grunge Era and it sounds so uniquely like him! I ran into Yungblud during the beginning of this Hellish Pandemic and have since become thoroughly ADDICTED to not just his Music(because it’s mesmerizing and entirely relatable and purely real) but Dom himself because his unapologetically himself! Hes taken inspiration from nirvana and I love that. The guitar is played similarly to smells like teenage spirit. Also some of the verses sound very similar to heart shaped box and when he does the screames followed by nobody loves my. Extremely good to my ears

Same. I was a teenager from 2001-2007 when emo and scene were exploding. I get very nostalgic about those days. Sometimes I really can't believe Panic @ The Disco / Brendon Urie is still going STRONG. I remember the one year PATD was performing for New Year's Rockin Eve and I was like "well better enjoy it because probably won't see them again" - oh how wrong I was. Another band I really love that I discovered a few months ago is Pale Waves - gives me a 2000s feeling and it's great.
