Yunus Emre (Turkish pronunciation also known as Derviş Yunus (Yunus the Dervish) (c. 1238-1320) was a Turkish folk poet and Sufi mystic who greatly influenced Turkish culture. Emre has been a leading light for humanity for centuries with his suggestions to adopt the values of patience, satisfaction, tolerance, generosity, goodness and virtue in line with the teachings of Islam. The great Sufi thinker and folk poet is considered one of the spiritual architects of Anatolia.

Thank you for your beautiful reading and the most appropriate and tasteful background music on the internet. Not too much not too little. Than you. 8:26 Yunus Emre Untitled poem #7 We have no knowledge of whose turn has come While Death roams about freely among us: Dashing through men's lives as His own orchard, He plucks and strips anyone He chooses. He crushes people, leaves them with backs bent, And makes multitudes shed tears of lament. He plunders estates to His heart's content, Routs men with all His might till Life oozes. Before the heroes grow old and decrepit, Death strikes and lowers them into the pit Without any forewarning about it. With gleaming eyes, Death enjoys His ruses.

I have chills. The veil thins and I feel myself lifted off my feet for an instant. Long enough to feel the awe. Somewhere between absolute freedom and abject terror.

It might seem to some that to be a gnu, wee flightless bird, with a slight and reticent voice, in that Garden, is trivial and for naught, as am I deep in the shade of those perfumed boughs, but I find myself here, and that is of the most exquisite sufficiency.

Here are two poems from the great 13th Century bard and mystic “Yunus Emre.” (His name can be anglicized as “Jones the Lover/Jones the Bard/Jones the Poet/Jones The Comrade.”) A Turkish folk song was written mixing two of them. If you wanna listen to it, here is the link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMiVeNWYqprVpXU.html Enjoy them! 1. We hold no grudge against anyone Even a foreigner is a friend to us Where there are silence and loneliness Is a neighborhood and a city for us. Our name is “miskin" (1) The grudge is our only enemy We hold no grudge against anyone All the universe is one to us Our homeland is the heavens Our comrade is the God Almighty We turn only towards Him Other roads are narrow to us The world is a woman and wife She seduces many So let them be banished from His world Such love is a shame to us Yunus says that “It’s Allah” We enclose ourselves in His “dergah” (2) And when we see His face there That is a revelation to us (1) Miskin: This word was used to describe someone who rejects all the worldly pleasures similar to a “dervish." (2) Dergah: Dervish convent. 2. We (3) are about to leave this world, hail to them who would stay And also hail to them who would pray for us The time of death reaches, bending our backs, tieing our tongues Hail to them, who would ask about our health (4) when we are sick They make our skin exposed and cut a seamless gown (5) for us Hail to them who would wash (6) our bodies with some pure water Azrael (7) takes our lives making our blood dry in our veins Hail to them who would fold our burial robes Words are just words when our wound is unbearable Hail to them who would make an effort to put us in the grave (8) Who came must leave again and walk on a road without return So hail to them who would ask about our condition (9) The lover is he who loves Him and cure His illness Hail to them who would pray for us with good words “Miskin” Yunus utters words and sheds tears of blood Hail to them who would know our reputation, let them be And the ones who would not know us, let them also be! (3) We: Referencing himself in the plural is a glimpse of humility in this context. (4) To ask about someone's health is an indication of care and kindness. (5) Burial gown: The body is buried wrapped in a white, simple fabric called "kefen." It has no stitches. (6) Wash: Muslims wash the dead before burial. (7) Azrael is the angel of death. (8) Put in the grave: Muslims see the act of burying as a good act, especially if the deceased is a poor or unknown person who has no one to bury his body. (9) Condition: The situation of one's health, mood, problems, etc. The whereabouts of someone.

Hey! So I was looking into some Jewish texts for you to read per our previous conversation and I think your best bet would be Psalms or Zohar. Your Sufi readings are my favorite.

@@SamaneriJayasara Hi, first i want to say thanks again for this wonderful new Sufi reading. i too was thinking for a while that it would be wonderful if you could include readings from the Jewish tradition too, i am Jewish who loves to learn from all traditions such as Advaita Vedanta and Sufi wisdom among others as i know by now that all rivers flow into the same sea. i would agree with Matt about Psalms and especially specific chapters that are beautiful mixture of wisdom and devotion to God. the Zohar is very hard to understand without having an early proper preparation and even then it's very complicated, the symbolism is not easy to grasp and so it's quite hard to understand clearly, it's been done this way on purpose to preserve this knowledge from falling to the hands of unripe people and keep it in a small circle of the secret keepers throughout many generations. besides "Psalms" i would recommend "The Book of Ecclesiastes" that was written by King Solomon the wisest of men (by Jewish tradition) which is a book of universal wisdom and morality. also there is a wonderful book called "Gems of Wisdom" words of the great Kabbalists from all generations, this book gives us sayings of great Jewish mystics (Kabbalists) that are more direct and clear and are quite easy to grasp in a clear language, this are universal truths that i believe would resonate with many seekers from different traditions, as we know the absolute truth is one. i'll send you pdf's of this texts and if you'll decide to read them for us it would be wonderful, take care all the best.
