Pole Bicycles has been at the bleeding edge of the "longer, lower, and slacker" trend for years now and their Taival is no different. The designers at Pole make some of the longest bikes on the planet, and their philosophy is based around speed and technical terrain. How does the Pole Tavail stack up against other modern hardcore hardtails? Today we find out. Full frame details here: bit.ly/3dz9Ep3

I've gleaned allot of knowledge about mountain biking on youtube. I feel compelled to comment that this channel provides the most insightful, informative, thoughtful and thorough content about bikes and equipment I've come across. More than any other content creator/channel. Answering the questions we all want addressed. Going deeper than anyone in the sport and on the platform. These reviews are on point and of a higher caliber than anything else I've seen on youtube. Appreciate all you do Steve and thanks for all this great content! Enjoy watching Dusty Betty too. Truly enjoyed watching you and Kendal-weed skillfully session that climb too. Two mountain goats! P.S.-Your lively upbeat demeanor and trail etiquette warms the soul, maintaining it even while your getting harassed by unleashed unruly dogs. True ambassador of the mountain bike community!

This comment is on point and I learnt much and appreciate any new content as each review or video gives something new to learn. However I am slowly starting to think of myself as someone "educated" hard enough with big thanks to this channel. Now I realize that all this knowledge started me to overthink some bikes and less appreciate the hardtail I own.

I love the Taivals looks. I got the frame on a sweet Black Friday deal last year for $400 +shipping, but new job meant initially less riding time so it sat it a box for nearly a year. This review inspired me to finally build up the frame. It’s almost done and I can’t wait to throw a leg over. I bought this bike because of this review and it is my daily rider. Unless I'm trying to keep up with friends in bike park terrain this bike is the most fun I've had in mountain biking. it inspires a little too much confidence sometimes, and I get myself in trouble, but that's why its fun!
@WentToCollege

I bought and built this bike last summer (in an XL frame) specifically for its larger sizing. At 6'7" I've never had a bike that actually felt like it fit me. I don't think I've ever had more fun on a bike. Completely agree with your experience on it. I put 27.5 x 2.8" tires on it thinking the 27.5 would give it a bit more pop and playfulness, but now wondering if 29s would give me noticeably more BB clearance on that loooong XL wheelbase. Love your channel, keep doing what you're doing!

I count my one of these as my all-time favourite steel hardtail, 'planted and fast' being exactly my style. Gratifying to hear you say the same as I felt about it. I was always blown away by how composed it was in slow tech, either up or down. I liked it so much I got a Kingdom Vendetta built to virtually identical geometry, so now I have a Taival in Ti!
@palashpulsar
@palashpulsar 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I didn’t realise Kingdom bikes offer custom geometry option. Does your Ti ride the same as Taival?
@colinburgess7767
@colinburgess7767 3 жыл бұрын
Pretty much. There are some small differences - a few mm longer reach, a few mm higher stack and a few mm shorter back end means for me, it snaps a touch better in turns and lifts the front a touch better. These are small increments though, and its still very much a Taival in feel, but has that special silky Ti feeling in fast chunder. Yum!

@@hardtailparty I'm also curious about the idea of a SS drivetrain on a DH/Park specific hardtail. Honestly the way I'm looking at it you get mechanical simplicity and also in a gravity setting do you really need more than one gear?

How do you think the mmmbop would do in this trail? I ride one which is a little bigger for me but I changed stem and seats so I could better my reach. On the downs it's really stable but haven't really challenged it to rocky climbs cause there are none around me in Oregon 🤣

This one wasn't on my radar, but just noticed the Taival build package is just $1100. I have a 150/130 Guerrilla Gravity; wondering if this is too close to that, as I'm looking to build a hardtail that will be lighter/faster/more nimble/playful than that.

@@MartenRun Nah, I prefer full-sus 95% of the time, since most the trails I ride are extremely rooty and rocky, although most of the time not very steep or long, but even the so called "XC-routes" are nicer to ride on an Enduro bike than an XC-bike, because they're so rough. I use my hardtail for jibbing around town and sometimes I take it to the trails to remind me how good my full-suspension bikes are.

Not cushcore; I had a tannus insert.
@michaelklein6968
@michaelklein6968 3 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned in the comments of an earlier video, I had four dents in a month in my Trail Wide's (without an insert). After installing a Tannus Tubeless I didn't get any more, but I couldn't get the wheels to hold air, and the tires popped all the way into the middle of the rim when pressure got low enough. I swapped the rim for an Enduro Wide, and it's a totally different wheel. The tire sticks to the rim much better, and the wheel feels way more solid, without feeling heavier. I do run it with the Tannus insert though.

@michaelklein6968
@michaelklein6968 3 жыл бұрын
@@danieldoble7674 no both the Trail Wide and the Enduro Wide was the original one. I emailed Hunt and explained my problems, so they gave me a crash replacement deal on the Enduro rim. My main concern was not as much the dents as the problem with the beads popping in when the tire lost pressure. It was impossible to pump the tire back up on the trail. It seems the Enduro rim "grips" the tire much better. With the insert I'm now able to run the backwheel at 21 psi and even a little lower. I only weigh 60 kgs but throw the back around a lot. No sharp rocks in Denmark but lots of roots.

What do you think of this bike as a compliment to an enduro race bike?
@bartmullin8018
@bartmullin8018 2 жыл бұрын
I find it funny that people trip when they see a person riding a ht (or rigid) bike. HT's/rigids were the first mountain-bikes on the dirt and for seventy-five percent of most riders/trails, is all you'll ever need (!). Additionally, if you're new to the sport, a ht/rigid is hard to beat for the teaching of riding skills/budget-friendliness (Started in '89 with a rigid and am back to one now; '18 Surly Karate Monkey set up for bikepacking, trail, and general utilitarian day-to-day use in town). FS rigs seem so generic/'corporate' and are ultra-spendy even for an entry-level ($2000.00?!) one. They also can get you in way over your head on a trail if not careful or are a less skilled rider.
