There are many elements to the handstand, but one that you rarely see discussed is the actual sensation of controlling the balance.
It's a subtle technique, and while many people do eventually learn to do this intuitively, I still think it's helpful to hear it explained.
Hope this is helpful and gives you a better grasp of what you need to do in order to stay up longer in your handstands.

This explanation was very much like me, i just love oversimplifying stuff and for a very VERY long time i couldnt find someone who says every single detail to the point "if you move right, you will go right" it might sound useless but every single detail counts since here am trynna achieve the sense of automatic thinking just like with breathing, the balance us the same YOU DEFINITELY EARNED A FOLLOWER FOR LIFE

1- focus on the feet 2- flex and extend the wrist to balance

I love how you subtly use your physics background to analyze what happens in the handstand. Your explanations are also very clear and straightforward :-) I really enjoyed this video, thank you. Such things are quite rare to come across, these days everybody is an expert in movement ;)

Cheers man I appreciate that. I’m no expert, still very much a student, but I do think people can benefit from my mistakes and experience

Aloha Yuri. Thanks for all these videos. I am in my fifties, and have some old nagging disc issues mid back and neck. I have been working to get the handstand. I realize the biggest issue holding me back right now is the fear of falling and fucking something up. Just working on conquering that at the moment. Truly appreciate all these tips you put out brother.

Cheers, appreciate it. Yeah fear is a completely separate topic that needs to be addressed in handstand training

This gives me hope. I have bowed arms that when I'm in a handstand and my shoulders are fully open my hands are 3 inches behind my body.

For me posterior pelvic tilt, shoulder opening flexion and point of focus are the main aspects of decent or somewhat perfect balance.

Exactly. I know if my handstand is straight or not by "feeling" where my feet are. Usually they are a bit in front of hands, which is good for my balance 😂 but bad for my form 😌. Does hollow body fix it? 🙏

Lovely encapsulation 'It makes the mathematics more complicated'. If you don't mind a beginner expanding then I will try. It is easier to juggle two balls than three, three than four, at five it takes everything. As our subconscious brain attempts to solve the very difficult problem of where our body is an how to coordinate the firing of neurons to stimulate our nerves to contract our muscles it also has to work out where our body is likely to be in the future for it takes a finite amount of time to do the previous. This becomes a tremendously complex problem. The brain can do this as we dance on the ground slowly but in a handstand it cannot because when we allow ourselves to move like this we are extremely unlikely to have enough time there for our body to learn as we will falls sooner rather than later. All of that is further complicated by the finite nature of the mighty Turing Machine that is our subconscious motor control system, at a certain point we simply are not able to be aware of all that we need to be aware of and WE DROP THE BALL. In a handstand I often feel completely overwhelmed as I have been allowing this to happen, it's been a lifetime of failure, that's OK. I first noticed the nonsense of 'multitasking' when I was playing guitar and tapping me feet whilst drinking a cup of tea, I COULD NOT TASTE THE TEA. Stop tapping my foot, I could taste it. Stop playing I could taste it. Sit down in silence and have one sip at a time and the tea becomes delicious. Lastly (sorry) thanks for the very careful choice of topic, it is better to reach for a feeling or an object than a picture in a book. See me bow Yuri. David.
