Missing my dad who passed on early this year, and I came looking for Baba Legba's music. My dad always listened to his tracks, even though I didn't understand it much. Yusuf Olatunji actually mentioned my late grandfather and his late brother on this track. Pa Zaka Olasimbo and Pa Lateef Olasimbo of Ijebu Ode, two brothers who owned Zareco Records, a major distributor of Yusuf Olatunji's music. May all their gentle souls rest in perfect peace. Classic music this is.

Baba i really miss you 😘 a lot

One of the Yoruba most powerful traditional songs. Its natural rendition provides a mix of emotion and reality of existence. Baba Legba, though from Oyo state, born Joseph and turned Yusuf, has revolutionalised sakara music, unarguably.

My love for Yusuf Olatunji's (Baba Legba) and his Sakara music was way back from the late 60s up till today because of the melody, proverbs, witty sayings, valuable lessons and historical evidences in his music. These qualities stand his music out amongst his peers and today's music.

This unique genre I grew up knowing and appreciating. I say with pride that ours' is a rich culture that deserves much preservation . I solicit much support and assistance for the efforts of one of late Yusuf Olatunji's children, Abideen who currently flies the flag of Sakara. Music that inspires, enlivens and promotes the richness of African originality. Everything about it is natural! Respect for the mastery of the goje by the grandmaster himself, Joseph, no, Yusuf Olatunji (Baba L'Egba). I thank God for the good exposure I had thru my late dad, to this meaningful heartwarming music. I hope my grandchildren would not have to travel to Brazil or the Americans to 'study' dis beautiful genre or indeed, the Yoruba language ! Up Yusuf Olatunji, up Baba L'Egba !

A great icon the stuff of legends. His brand of Sakara was not just music. It was much more than that being in essence the totality of our mores, ethos, values and morality fused together and captured in a musical canvass. The Late Ayinla Omowura put it succinctly when he opined in his memorial album for Baba Legba that Baba took his Goje along with him to the great beyond. He had the artistic quality, fervour and intensity that comes across only in a millennium. No wonder he was able to produce almost effortlessly meaningful lyrics full of inspirational messages and profound thoughtfulness. Rest in peace Baba Legba.

It reminds me of my childhood days at I jebu-Ode. I schooled at Community Primary School and Luba Comprehensive School all at Ijebu-Ode. We used to have a neigbhorwho plays Baba L'Egba all the night. Now that I am a grown up. I can't do without listening to Yusuf Olatunji even when I am in the midst of my white folks(Spanish) and the will ask me 'asi cantan los Nigerianos' meaning is this how the Nigerian sings and I will this is a special local yoruba jazz. When I listen to these songs late night I do miss home. EgbaAlake, I appreciate your effort for this priceless classics collections.

This type of music will never die as it is down to earth traditional music that speaks to our roots and hearts, logical in composition, rendition and instrumentation . It teaches sense and lessons more like Sermons for those that understand the song in-depth unlike the modern day hip- hop, R &B and like that teaches and offered discerning listeners nothing. Adieu Pa Yussuf Olatunji a.k.a. Baba Legba.

music has much to do in our society. when you hear this kind of music you are always calm. people that listen to this dont beat their wives or engage in rm robbery. but now in todays music you will start hearing music that will push you into crime and cultism. Music of todays encorages lots of evil and thats why our country has come down to this level. The government should take control of record compines and ban certain kinds of musics.

Great, memorable and outstanding music. Hmmm!!! Is it the unique rytheme, contemporary lyrics, special instrumentation and the vocal like a Nightingale? My childhood and adolescence were blessed and graced with Baba Legba works, most joyfully, serenely and dazingly particularly in the early morning hours. Hoping that some budding and talented musicians would develop on this rare genres and foundation. May your soul rest in peace just as your legacy continues to inspire, stimulate and tantalize listeners that appreciate and blend with your great and unforgettable art.
