I came back once, I was very cold and wanted to go back to sleep but I was very coherent. Sadly I didn't get to see any cool stuff on my 5-6 minute departure. It was just like waking up from one of those rock solid sleeps (I was revived in the back of an ambulance, and they kept getting upset I wanted to go back to sleep)

i mean, kinda yeah. like he's a half demon so powerful he could wipe out humanity personally, while also a teenager. his mom is a bit of a mess, his martial arts teacher is his first actual parental figure, his father figure died after a year of knowing he even existed and then there is just the constant attempts on his life and on those cares about, the love of his life was al most killed repeatedly. Frankly it's a miracle he is as well adjusted as he is.

There's actually a old rpg called Arcanum that tackled the question of "if afterlife was an absolute certainty and objectively better than our life, would there be any meaning to life itself?" as well. It's a really cool game with a very unique setting, it's basically dungeons and dragons going through the industrial revolution.

Oh. My. God. Someone else knows about Arcanum! I love that game, it's one of my favourite rpg's of all time! . . . . . . . Do you use the shipwreck glitch to get to the other side of the map early so you can dig up the book and go to the secret dark place up north and skip a lot of the story? I do sometimes but mostly I play correctly, well as correctly as someone who knows where all the good stuff is. (I tried to be vague for spoiler reasons but if you're as big of a fan of the game as I am you'll figure it out)

If you can do Kuwabara then you should try working on Vegeta and Piccolo. Voice actor barely changes the actual voice between the 3, so it's mostly all tone and delivery that separates them.

2:30 strictly speaking, in Yu Yu Hakusho there's like three afterlives: the spirit realm, ruled by king Enma; hell, where Toguro went and where king Enma sends you; and the demon realm, where the three kings rule and by far and wide the largest among them. Don't know why the demon realm and hell are separate entities ruled by separate beings, I didn't write this

@@Kip450 Even by then I'd known Charlie Brown to be a boy that had a nonstop train of failure and aside from Linus and Snoopy, some of the worst fair weather "friends" you could never want. Seeing him lose what could have been one moment of glory for him and the way it was framed just plucked the wrong chord with me. It made me realize the world is a bad place and life from then on only confirmed it.

Yeah, Yusuke just went on to make Ramen. He literally has nothing to look forward to after this. Guy gets ultimate power and it comes down to nothing. It really made me realize how important it is to consider where your story is going when raising the stakes through power scaling. Like, just making every new villain "stronger" isn't wise in the long-term. It's certainly easier to write, and can help streamline the story if the characters are more emotionally conflicted.
