nice review. glad to see the yume ii is still top of the yume pile. I enjoy mine a lot. I haven't broke down to buy the AFUL P5 at this point, but the month is still young.

The Performer 5 / 8 are the best value at the moment. They are unbelievably good.

I have comfort in the original Yume's tuning and presentation that I don't think I'll ever find elsewhere. Sure, there would be times where I wonder if a bassline in a certain song could use more punch, and just today I boosted the region of 100 to 200 hz to match the 2023 neutral target levels, leaving the rest untouched. Having given a few songs several A/B tests to see how this more "neutral" amount of punch would work, I realized it doesn't play very nice with the rest of the tuning. I didn't stop there though, I in fact decided to tune the whole bass range (or at least 20 to 200hz) to the 2023 levels and felt that the sub bass region was feeling underhanded. Probably just a matter of how the drivers are engineered to function, and I figured that this more lean style to bass would remain a cold hard fact regardless of what the graphs imply. The whole reason I settled on the original Yume is how damn good its tuning made the Moondrop Kato, the JQ 4U Pro, and even my galaxy buds plus sound. Whatever tonal qualities those buds were retaining, that's what made each of them sound good with this EQing helping them feel more "balanced". In the end, all I would really want an improvement on with the og Yume is the imaging and layering since most of the time the soundstage does well enough for my library. If the Yume 2 had the same shell as the original, I would've considered it- but having dug around to get a general impression of how they sound, the yume would have and definitely does agree more with my preferences.

I will pass and wait for a basshead with treble sensitive but still delivers coherent sound in the mid to high range.

Kind of sad to see that price tbh. Why would i go for those when i can spend not even half and get myself some hexa's or something similar? Or maybe spend 1/4 and go for the zero's (Blue or red) They look great but such a steep price is hardly justifiable nowadays when the competition is pumping out masterpieces for good prices. *Edit* I mean they are 1DD and 2 BA's and cost almost triple the price of the hexa's which have 3 BA's AND good tuning imo.

I was wondering for example, for normal person, not audiophile, if i have for example CHU that are 'great' if i buy sth like this Yume Ultra, or sth like Blessing 2 would i hear 'difference' . I mean there could be difference in tuning but i mean i we compare good 50 usd IEM and 200IEM is difference like a drop of water in the sea or everyone can say wow, those 200USD are so much better. I mean is it worth buying more expensive ones?
