As a Brazilian, Arabic immigrant family, I witnessed how our Jewish community was always helpful and kind with my family. I grew up admiring, being a friend and having usual contacts with Jewish people in Brazil and abroad, feeling their spirit, kindness, honesty and intelligence. These words, almost forgotten by the threats we live Today, present the only way to avoid useless violence. Peace!

When there will be a Palestinian intellectual giving such a speech in Arabic, inside Palestinian territory, and will survive as a free person, there will be peace.

If there were more like Yuval in the world, there were no wars. This is the spirituality we all should strive to. The question is only how to transform it into action? And we cannot do it unilaterally! (We already tried couple of times and know how it ends …). I hope one day there will be enough people on the other side, who will think this way. This is a nice sermon preached to the choir. The introduction says this rally, "Was attended by thousands of Israelis and Palestinians, calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and peace." I am sure, there were many Israelis and some Israeli Arabs. I am also sure, there were no Arabs from Gaza or West Bank. Professor Harari says, "Unfortunately, too many of us refuse to recognize the oh-so-simple fact that there is a Jewish people and a Palestinian people here, both of whom have a deep historical and spiritual connection to the land and the right to exist on it, ..." Israel does not deny Palestinian Arabs the right to exit and call themselves 'Palestinians', even though the very term 'Palestinians' was coined by the Soviet KGB, but Islamists, Arab nationalists, Iranian mullahs, and their puppets Hamas, etc. cannot tolerate the existence of the sliver of land where the Jews walk tall, do not care about Pact of Umar, and don't even deign to hate Arabs within their state. There is only one way to achieve peace with an enemy like that: victory in war. Ironically, kibbutzim, attacked on Oktober 7, were populated largely by people of the same kind that gathered in this rally.

Umm al-Rashrash is a Palestinian land that was under Jordanian administration. Before the Jordanian administration, it was under Ottoman sovereignty and joined the southern Levant. Then Israel took it from Jordan in the 1948 war, after which Jordan abandoned the administration of Umm al-Rashrash and the West Bank in the Wadi Araba Agreement of 1994.

After so much anger and frustration for my sense of ineptitude and impotence in seeing so much grief, a grif that can travel thousands of kilometers away and hit the soul of even those who have only seen or known about it, I was finally able to let the tears flow, in the comfort of at least a hope.
