Yvonne De Carlo delivers a fiery "Clancy Lowered the Boom" in this 1949 film performance, sung in her own voice. She had originally planned to be an opera singer.

Yvonne's camera awarness Concerning her body's positioning and framing in the lense, as well as her appropriately animated facial expressions and dynamic hand expressions are PHENOMENAL !!!

Plus it's her own voice.

After watching this and her other movie performances, Yvonne De Carlo would have been a hit on Broadway, I think it would have played more to her presence as a performer.

She was, in fact, a hit on Broadway - she originated "I'm Still Here" in the production of "Follies" and appeared on the Great White Way again, too.

@@matthewrettenmund8358 I believe Sondheim wrote that song specifically for her. He first interviewed her to get enough story points to work into the song. It was a gift she always cherished.

breath - no "e". Just like cloth/clothe Why does everyone have so much trouble remembering that the silent e is for the verb?

What movie is this from? She sang with her real voice in all her movies.

Yes, she trained to be an opera singer. This is from "The Gal Who Took the West".

You might be surprised at how many of the people of the wild west were born in Ireland.

She had a second song in this movie ' Frankie and Johnny'. I actually think it is better than this one. Just my opinion.

Real singing voice or dubbed? If anything, the operatic intro is most likely dubbed.

David Meltzer Hi David - I'm a huge fan of Yvonne's and have a few books on her including her autobiography. She wanted to be a singer more than an actress and she took opera lessons so my guess is that it is really Yvonne singing including the intro. She had an awesome voice.

She was a model before she became an actress I think. I watched her biography on the Munsters DVD.
