Yxz on Portals & 70/30 Gear Reduction

We got an opportunity to get our hands on a set of SuperATV 4" 30% reduction billet portals. We install them and give first impressions and measurements with them on with joshs machine that is also already running 70/30 gear reduction. Should make for a good rock crawler with this setup!

Machine details:
Justins machine is a 2019 Can-am X3 XRS. It is 72" wide and 172 horsepower. Suspension is setup to the fox tune. It is running 32x14x10 sticky Maxxis Roxxzilla tires. It has a Evo Powersports Shocker cat delete exhaust.
Billys machine is a 2017 yxz 1000r with graves exhaust, tune, 70/30 gytr gear reduction, heavy flywheel, 30" maxxis bighorn tires, 14x7 5+2 Method 401 wheels, weller tie rods, krash offroad cage, bumpers,
sliders, warn 3500lb winch, and simpson suspension seats.
Joshs rig is a 2017 yxz1000r with Super Atv 4" 30% Portals, graves exhaust, tune, 30" maxxis Roxxzilla tires, krash offroad cage, rear bumper, sliders, 70/30 gear reduction, and heavy flywheel.

I’d probably keep the 30’s till they wear out & then go nothing no bigger than 32’s but not my 💰 either.. still a badass machine

Really been thinking about portals for the old RZR, so very interested in this! Can't wait to see you guys hitting tough trails again with the new X3 and Josh's portal car.

I'd stay at 30's, the smaller tires will crawl better. Going bigger will only add more ground clearance, which is also very important but bigger/heavier tires it won't crawl as good. It looks sick, I'd love for a set 4" portals for my x2 but 3k price tag will never be in my budget :(

Dusty Stasyszen My buddy and I are running that exact setup. We are rolling on 32” Superatv Intimidators. Definitely wouldn’t go bigger than a 32”. The gearing is perfect with them. Plus, any bigger and you will have clearance issues on the inner fender when at full lock and suspension compressed.

Y'all it looks sick as hell. Great job on it I'm thinking 33-35 tire also I wish I'd had the money to went with 35" OL2 for my lifted Commander my 32" Black Mambas look real good on it but I think the 35" OL2s on 10"wide wheels would've been awesome

Rekluse clutch and heavy hitter flywheel, best anti stall system for the yxz, makes crawling a breeze even without portals.

Plenty of clearance. Run the 30s for a while and see what you think. Maybe you'll keep some top end speed.

Christopher Borodezt we have had pretty good luck with stocks but only time will tell. Definitely puts some stress on components

Make sure to pull the bolt (the alen bolt that holds the hiem and spacers to the adapter stud) out of the outer hiems and reinstall it with good red thread lock. Mine almost killed me before I figured it out!!

Probably not gonna break as much with what’s on it now. But that’s all u and your machine. I’m looking into a base x3 xmr ant thoughts. I like the rough Tractor tires and I farm more than I trail ride very little so the 120hp is gonna be perfect for myself and it not gonna b extremely wide for the littl atv trails that my brute uses. Anything thought?

Now needs some 33 or 35 tires looks like it skipped leg day with those 30s lol I’m running 33 xt300s and they are lighter than some 32s they hook hard on hill climbs

Hello I just put portals on my yxz and I was wondering if you guys had had any issues with the turning radius being absolutely terrible and I made it about 20 miles before the provided studs bent and sheared off and my tire went flying off. I was wondering if you guys have had any issues with that and what you recommended

Yeah we had turning radius issues, haven’t had any issues with the wheel studs though. All our issues were related to steering so we can’t really help with that. Sorry man. We actually ended up ditching the portals, just wasn’t worth the added headache.

You guys still running the stock flywheel? I have a heavier one in mine and it won't stall with stock gearing when idling around.

Gen 3s are billet aluminum. A lot stronger then cast with gen 2

@@BlownBudgetOffroad Bunch of my buddies bought YXZ's with GYTR gear kits at around the same time I did - and I was the only one who did the OD 5th even though I tried to talk all the rest of them into it. A year later they all wished they had spent the extra $500 like I did up front!

Leave it on 30s if possible for gear ratio and durability reasons. If you find the need for a taller tire often in the trails then maybe you should step to 32s . But i wouldnt go crazy with tire size and counter act the effect of all the other mods youve spent money on.

35s would be a game changer. 32s would be okay I guess. 30s would be a joke. The point of portals is ground clearance and ability to run big tires. Go big or go home right? Lol Nice ride either way.

@@BlownBudgetOffroad install is cake... We hadn't ever done it and 6 hours of goofing off later it looks good. Some minor blemishes but I wasn't too concerned about them. The overall look is pretty freaking clean
