Maybe getting humbled in the movie gave her time to cool down about getting fired, and now she's lost the will she needed in order to kill him for the throne? Or maybe she simply found a weird sense of enjoyment coming up with wacky schemes every week, just to see how far she can go, and now she's started growing fond of Kuzco now that she doesn't have to serve/raise him anymore. I mean, imagine suddenly having an excuse (and the time) to stretch your sorcery/alchemy skills all you want, against someone who ultimately wouldn't have the heart to kill you for it (since Kuzco never really wanted Yzma to die, despite everything). She gets to pursue her real passion (sorcery) and is probably in a better place mentally. Oh, that and Kronk's good vibes are probably rubbing off on her. There's no immunity to prolonged exposure to golden retriever energy.

True, and then many times in the TV series. It’s sad that she went from friends with Kuzco’s dad and Kuzco’s sort-of-adoptive-mom (by default) to wanting to overthrow him. While it was normal for a close relative to rule in a young king’s stead until they’re ready, she got too power hungry and then vengeful when Kuzco stood up for himself and fired her for undermining his position.
