I got the stylus for the oneplus open, only took 2 and a half weeks to come and its very nice. Also you can do 4 windows at one time as well on the oneplus open. They both are great phones.

I had the Z Fold 5 and went to OnePlus Open. After experiencing both phones, I found that Samsung software is better than Oneplus. For my lifestyle, the Oneplus Open is a perfect fit because it is easier to text when the phone is closed, and that is why I decided to keep it. I do not need 4 windows open at the same time, etc. I had the stylus pen for the zfold but never used it. I think the software will catch up.

I have both the z5 and the Open. I found the software better on the z5 especially with Android 14 and the UI 6.0 updates and it has been around for 5 generations. However, the experience on the open has been better especially with the wider front screen and larger inner screen plus it's lighter than the Z5. He did not mention the open box presentation which was a far better experience for me than Samsung for what you pay in a flagship phone. You get a 66 watt charging block, cord, and back cover for the phone. The Open can charge faster than the Z5 plus it's a lighter phone. Both phones are great and have their pros and cons but the open is a better experience for me. The Open will push Samsung to do better with the upcoming z6. Samsung will stop being lazy, hopefully listen to their customers, and get back on top of the folding game. Also, I had the Z3 and Z4 folds. Samsung could have done so much more with the Z5 to make it the best folding phone all around. Good job to the One Plus Open for giving the Z5 competition and in some cases a better phone. Ultimately, it will come down to your preference. I enjoy both phones and think they are better than the Google fold. However, One Plus is my daily phone with the SIM card for now.

Truly, I respect your opinion and you make some valid points. Still, if I had to choose between the two foldables I would still purchase the OnePlus open. Frankly, I feel they built a much better mouse trap. Moreover, my friends that own Z Folds never even bother to use the stylus. Strictly speaking, I feel that the Open has much better ergonomics and a better overall design. Once more, by way of comparison to the z fold, the crease in the screen is hardly even noticeable. At the end of the day, the Samsung z fold series reminds me a lot of the movie groundhog day. By and large, it is the same thing over and over generation to generation offering only token changes. Nudge me when it becomes exciting again.

Why is no one talking about Dex? You can actually turn your phone into a desktop. And i can do that wirelessly with a samsung tv. Its awesome!

I think people are generally saying the Open is the better phone because it's something different. Different screen size, UI, etc. Different doesn't always mean better in my opinion. I think the UI of the open still needs tweaking. Until other foldables offer an ecosystem, pen support and a samsung dex like feature, No matter how big the phone is, it just can't compete with the fold 5. I just don't understand how companies are producing folding phones and not offering a stylus support with it at launch.

For me the choice was really easy, Samsung offered the 1 TB version for only 1500€! Id have to pay around 800 more for the Oneplus (with less storage). But i also agree that the Fold is an overall better device! I don't get the criticism for the narrow display, its great for one handed use. I love the fact that I'm once again is using widgets to their full extent on the interior screen. I've kinda used them less and less for each year, but the larger display changed the game.

Is a stylus essential? What are your fingers for. Samsung have been found wanting with the Z Fold 5 and will need to raise their game next year.

I'm done with the foldable phones since I'm on my second Fold 4 in fourteen months. First one cracked after 8 months and second one cracked after 6 months. Time to stop the madness and return to the slab. Looking forward to the S24 now.

I agree with you sir and one thing that hasn’t been discussed is that it’s a phone first and foremost! The cell antennas on the one plus are terrible! I had to return it bc it couldn’t keep a signal anywhere! Samsung all day but the form factor is unreal on one plus

The S Pen is largely what's keeping me on the ZF5. I sell professionally on several e-commerce platforms, and extract text, screen write, and screen select are critical for listing products, stealing bullet points from websites, and multi window. I accidentally put my S Pen into the case (same case & pen as yours) upside down and broke the tip. After replacing the nib, it's still acting funny, and my ZF4 digitizer's S Pen stopped recognizing input down the center of the screen. Both times, I was crippled without the S Pen. I'm not sure why the S Pen has so many haters...I've used it pretty much daily since the Note 3. It is, however, great to see other foldables in America. Maybe that'll push Samsung to start innovating again. Still hoping for some camera upgrades and that satisfyingly clicky-fidget embedded S Pen. No issues or complaints with the front screen or crease...I think most of those complaints come from non-users.

Samsung really needs to release a passport format for those who want that style format. For me, i love the narrow screen for one-handed use and a like the portrait main screen instead of horizontal like the pixel fold. I just wish samsung doesn't ditch the format they have right now.Also, i like my phone to lay flat. The camera bump on the one plus is way too big for the quality you get out of it. Also love to use my s-pen.

I had both, I prefer the Open. If Samsung gets a wider display and slightly better cameras and charging speeds I'll be back for the fold 6, otherwise I'll be enjoying the open

I disagree, most people use a tablet without a stylus. It's not that common of a thing to use a stylus with a tablet. The screen ration on the Open is more to my liking, especially with the minimal crease versus the giant one on the Fold. I wanted to like the fold, but it has too many drawbacks versus the open. I won't even mention the brightness, the fast charging, etc. Yeah the Open is not waterproof, but not a big deal for me since I don't plan on swimming with it and I tend to not be too clumsy with my phones. To date, as of 2007, I have only broken 1 phone, my Galaxy S4 when I had it in my front pocket and it fell out and shattered the screen. Another mistake people make is saying that the Open has no video output, I promise, it does. I think that the Open has better multitasking, or at least more intuitive. Had the Fold 5 not had a serious crease and a narrow outer screen, I would have gotten it, especially since the Samsung phones get updates and the Oneplus phones are kind of lacking in that department. I guess we'll see what next year brings.

One plus owners are relentless. They act like Z owners were bullying them back in high school or something. If you like the Z Fold as-is with the slim screen, they respond like you just told them they were adopted. Fact is, most of them are going to jump ship if Samsung changes the aspect ratio. That's the power of the brand. ATM, I have little confidence Samsung can match the hardware of the other foldables because they have no battery innovation which is key to a slim foldable. However, it doesn't matter because these are premium devices and most people spending that much money will gravitate towards the brand they are more familiar with. That's Samsung.

I used z fold 4 last year I get rid of it after 2 month only . The remote design make it not usable at all. Also battery and camera terrible. I ordered oneplus open and waiting for it to be delivered hofully I will like it.

Watching on my Z Fold 5 and could not agree with u more. One UI, the smaller outer screen for mundane tasks like scrolling through my feed, replying to texts, etc. the S Pen stylus, the Samsung ecosystem, watch, earbuds, tv, not to mention DeX are just some of the reasons the Fold 5 is king

Ive had both and the z fold 5 is just more manageable in the hand. And software one ui is more complete except for the double apps stores kinda annoying

No I've had all 3 and imo the one plus beats them both much better size as for the pen the s-pen doesn't even work on the tiny font screen when I need it as my fingers are to big for the tiny keyboard I'd pick the one plus every time

The stylus is not solely a tablet essential or accessory. Hence the note series from Samsung and obviously now it being coming the s series. I also think stylus is unless you you draw a lot a complete waste of time

U can have bigger folding like xiami or honor. It's hard to keep in ur pants pocket due to large screen. u can have bigger batteries like oppo and vivo fold but no Spen or DEX .. u can have fast charging like pixel fold & techno but missing stable updates.. u can have huawei and but software NOT google friendly.. this is my thought.. other may have different experiences.. dont mind me.. u can do more research.. just play around. KZfaq will search for u.. as long as u keep searching only after fold 5 came out a week after carefully make comparison. . i make conclusions that.. price wise and specs.. i prefer fold 4.. bateri size /screen size/ hinge/ ram/ rom.. only fold 5 brighter/ fold shut no gap and 8 gen 2.. not enough to convince me to take fold 5.. as for few months of using i fall in love with the Dex and how smother the software.. i have watch hundreds of video about other folding phone but.. none to compare with samsung.. that stability and how user friendly it is.. im flip 4 user.. i give my flip to my wife , now change flip 4 to flip 5.. and that is major upgrade

I would love to buy this fold but nobody ever talks about how much it will cost to replace the inside screen considering it's the main part I worry the most if it breaks for failed. Maybe it cost too much, maybe it's not replaceable, etc why nobody ever talks about it or shows KZfaq videos on how to replace it. Big red flag IMHO.

Will agree to disagree on this one. It's subjective but for me personally, the outer screen on the z fold is miserable and I prefer the form factor of both the pixel and OnePlus more. All great options though, it's really about your own personal experience. OnePlus should have offered the oppo stylus, and I feel like it could still happen

Omeplus did an amazing job pushing the competition, but it has some flaws like the dead pixel issues, the camera processor isnt as good as samsung, and the ui still need better optimization comapred to the. Fold 5. Hoever the z fold 5 is still imo the superior device holistically.

Brave decision, and intellectually honest. Yes, the Open has features that appeal to some, but they're not necessarily better. Same goes for the Fold. But when you consider the OVERALL package, and the integration of hardware/software, plus physical and data support, and the ecosystem...Samsung is still in the lead. And if rumors are true that Samsung is going to stretch the Fold form factor a little bit next year, what's Oppo going to compete on?

I returned my Oneplus Open due to not liking some of the OS features or lack of and its been over 1 month and have yet to be refunded. Reached out to their customer service department, has been escalated and yet still nothing. All I keep getting is a response that they are working on it. Now i have to wait for dont know how long to be refunded so I can buy the Fold 5. SMH service is definitely not at Samsungs level.

Got the z fold at black Friday prices. $1000 after trading in my wife's old LG 7 for $300. Absolutely love it.. still use my z flip5 for work but when I get home th fold is my go to.

I don't understand the ergonomics comment. If the open front screen is perfect then surely the inner screen is perfect. I have used both and the open is far better than a fold 5.

My open blows the 2 folds I've owned out of the water! I'm laughing as I watch your review waving the fold around with the crease shing all so brightly. The opens crease is almost non existent. First time I've really not agreed with you and it's not even close.

So I'm a two phones guy and right now that's a OnePlus Open and iPhone 14PM. And my plan was to replace the iPhone with the S24U because I'm so over the iPhone and I love OneUI. But now that I have the OnePlus Open I'm a lot less excited about just another traditional slab phone. So now I'm seriously thinking about switching out my iPhone with the Zfold 5. So sometime next month I should be able to compare the Open and the Zfold 5. I already know that the OnePlus Open has the better cameras hardware wise at least.

I have to respectfully disagrree, I am just not a fan of the Fold 5 form factor, and multitasking is better with Oneplus, there are less multitasking features but the ones they do have are more useful to me. Also for the pen, considering the Open is more affordable, I think if it's that important to someone then it's worth the price, but I agree, hopefully they come out with a Oneplus Pen that is officially sold here.

The best foldable of 23 is the pixel fold. I sent my Samsung Fall 5 back because it's just the same boring phone from the last 4 years and the front display. It's just unusable. I sold my OnePlus open. I think ill be fine with my zfold 3. Still waiting for ground breaking fold like the fold 3. It was nice but i got ripped off with lewd and insidious bs. I was supposed to get my OnePlus for day one for 525 with my trade in. Lies, they cancelled my order then they charged upto 980. That put an extra sour taste in my mouth. Yes it has the best camera on fold, but overall the shopping experience wasn't worth the price of admission.
