The great Yamato Series and its marvelous soundtrack was a unbelievable success here in Brazil during the 1980s. I was only five years old and I was hooked since the beginning. Listening to the overture either in original Japanese, Italian or in English bring tears to my eyes everytime I listen to It. I would like to let you know, excelente Japanese Citizens, that it was entirely translated to Brazilian Portuguese language. Brazil has a remarkable japanese community and your culture in a sense was integrated to ours. Long live fellow japanese brothers and sisters! I bow in honor to you all. Respectfully.

@@rcadeu You guys need not bow to anyone . Though I must admit that your comment brought me to tears a bit. Let’s just cherish this wonderful work of art that was created for all of us. Like you say, we’re brothers after all. Cheers.
As a 33 year old half Asian man living in Denmark Scandinavia this gave goosebumps. Star Blazers or Space Battleship Yamato was the first ever Japanese anime I ever watched. The nostalgia❤

Same here. The sea was always what made us who we are, be it Denmark, Japan or any Scandinavian nation for that matter. We have so much in common. I believe that is why we are so moved by this.

I'm in complete agreement although I'm just an American boy who loves great music and great stories. I missed the first two episodes of it when it originally aired in my area(Ohio, USA) but watched it as often as I could, even fought my brother to be able to watch it😂
Bravo, Bravo, Thank you All so much. I am a 52 year old American man, and this took me back to the 1970's . I was only 6 when we got to enjoy the adventures of the crew of the Yamamoto. I've been so enamored with this show that I have made sure that all 4 of my children have been able to enjoy it as well. Ladies and gentlemen your performance has moved me to tears even as I write this. Thank you for all the hard work you did in preparation for this performance. As you played I saw each scene play out in my minds eye and was thoroughly moved along with each stanza .

I’m about the same age and was living in the US during those days. I never got my children to see Yamato, but you’ve given me the nudge to finally do that. Super thanks!
I’m very happy that Space Battleship Yamato is so loved in Japan. That the conductor and orchestra are in costume is a testament to how deeply they appreciate it. The performance is stellar, of course.

Maybe not as much as Star Trek in America but in the same way that the federation is what Americans imagine “space america” to be like, the way that Eath’s future is dire, miserable & all hope rests on the battleship Yamato (literally meaning Japan) turned into a space cruiser… you couldn’t get more uniquely Japanese than this. Triumphing against all odds! And Marcoss would later add Seiko Matsuda & idol culture to this theme…. Yamato, I thank you!

I'm from Arkansas America 🇺🇲✝️🗽⚖️🎵🌹‼️I been watching the original episode of Yamato Japanese cartoon series since I was a 12 years old in 1970s to highschool 1980s.
For all the Westerners in the audience, this is the equivalent of if a man dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi conducted an orchestra through the Star Wars soundtrack.

@rolfs21654 жыл бұрын
@@Geoff69420 You could have just said "Princess Leia" ... That is Lieutenant Mori's standard uniform, after all. If it had been her bikini from the "beach" episode, I would have understood the comparison to Slave Leia. But in this case it was just unnecessary.

To me this is better than obi wan as an conductor, but i get it, but maybe more picard doing the startrek theme would have bin a better comparison ;)

Sadly, this video does not have timestamps, so I will help with that (may not remember all details): 01:04 - this song is called "the Infinite Universe" as far as I remember. 04:07 - the theme song of Space Battleship Yamato 06:25 - this song would play when the Gamilas Empire would be encountered by the crew and a battle would start. 08:10 - this last song I don't remember anything about, maybe someone can help. Huggies and stay awesome everyone! >:D

Music selection ”Space Battleship Yamato"(Not ""Symphonic suite Yamato"). 1. Overture, aka "The Infinite Universe", 3. Sortie, aka "Black tiger" or "Cosmo tiger" (Japanese caption "戦闘" is wrong... "出撃" is correct), 4. The greatest love
I will always love the Space Battleship YAMATO.........domo

Every time I hear this I think of the Yamato being 8 light years from earth where they see it before the war started. It gives them hope for a better future and strengthens their resolve. I wish I had a moment like this in my own life

The main theme, including the words (for the english version, Star Blazers) was the most inspiring intro for any show of my youth. All the best shows were english translations/remakes of Japanese anime. Back then I didn't even know they weren't the originals. Fantastic to see it given this kind of treatment.
My Gawds. The voice of the female soloist makes want to cry. In a good way. Beautiful.

I remember watching the anime cartoon when I was young, I was so blown away, I loved it, now years later I find myself still loving it, It it so majestic, so powerful, so energized , the music is so superb. I may not speak this language, but one can appreciate its essence.Music is a universal language and it can be very powerful.

+battleshipfleet Unfortunately I haven't found a copy of the original Yamato series... but I really enjoyed Yamato 2199. Should I spend more effort in finding the original, or would you suggest 2199 is an acceptable replacement? I'm tempted to skip the original due to the old animation... but that would be kinda hypocritical cause I adore 1979's Mobile Suit Gundam, which gets the same kinda flame in regard to its dated animation (although I still tempt to say 1979s MSG's animation, although flawed, looks a notch better than the low-res snaps of SB Yamato I've seen on KZfaq)

battleshipfleet After some snooping around I've learned that Yamato 2199 is generally agreed as a very good retelling, and (as I've already felt when watching it) does a great job of keeping the classic feel.
