She'd trade Colorado if he'd take her with him
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay
She's answered by the taillights
Shining through the windowpane
He said I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
She said you're ramblin' man
You ain't ever gonna change
You gotta gypsy soul to blame
And you were born for leavin'
At a truck stop diner just outside of Lincoln,
The night is black as the coffee he was drinkin',
And in the waitress' eyes he sees the same 'ol light is shinin'
He thinks of Colorado
And the girl he left behind him
He said I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
She said you're ramblin' man
You ain't ever gonna change
You gotta gypsy soul to blame
And you were born for leavin'
Born for leavin'
Well it's a winding road
When you’re in the lost and found
You're a lover I'm a runner
We go 'round 'n 'round
And I love you but I leave you
I don't want you but I need you
You know it's you that calls me back here baby
Oh I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
'Cause I'm a ramblin' man
I ain't ever gonna change
I gotta gypsy soul
And I was born for leavin', born for leavin'
When I close my eyes I see you
No matter where I am
I can smell your perfume through these whispering pines
I'm with your ghost again
It's a shame about the weather
But I know soon we'll be together
And I can't wait 'til then
I can't wait 'til then

I Dont want this to sound like I'm asking for attention. I just wanted to thank you guys. I'm 14 now and my mom died April 20th 2013. She loved zac brown till the day she died. And we played this song at her funeral. Now I listen to it just to try to bring back her memories

My wife and I used to listen to this when we were first dating. We dated for a short time and then went our separate ways. I remember hearing this song on the radio and thinking, "I hope she is doing ok." Fast forward a year or so and she contacted me saying "I know I haven't talked to you in a while but I need someone to talk to right now." Here we are 7 years later, now married for 2.5 years and whenever I her this song still makes me say "I hope she is doing ok"

This song used to remind me of my dad while he was out on the road as a trucker. He gave up the road to see me through middle and high school. Now I’m leaving for college and he’s returning to the road. I won’t forget the sacrifices this man has made.

This song is also a great allegory for people who suffer from depression. The condition tends to isolate the person to further loneliness. The person may desperately want to be with someone, but it's like there's something weighing him down to stop himself from pursuing. Sometimes, there's cold weather even when it's sunny outside

It's so true. I left my wife of 8 years about 8 months ago. She was overcontrolling and very degrading to me. I had to leave. I had to show myself that I was confident enough to take my one and only life back. Life is hard now. I'm struggling, but it was a struggle I saw coming. Her and I remain very cordial for the kids, but she still insists I just should have stayed. The lyrics of this song hit very close for me, no translation needed. We still try to remain friends in a way, but I can see it in her eyes and she can see it in mine. She's the only person I've truly loved. And now she's not mine anymore. Somehow thru everything, I'd still give my life for her

Sure wish my ex had understood that. I managed to raise our kids with him right there in the house with us everyday, but always to himself. It was like being a single parent of fatherless kids. It just sucked so much for him to be right there but just concerned about himself. Whole ass fidiot. Never will forgive him for being a shitty parent. Kids are grown with kids of their own now and he's old and infirm and trying to be there "for them" now. He's old, sick, scared and alone; just exactly what he earned. Thank you, Karma!

There is no time limit on grief. Be gentle with yourself and breathe thru rough patches. Grief will eventually become comforting memories. I lost my sister & brother 11 days apart. Then my mother & my cat (of 25 yrs) just a year later. I grieve them still, but it’s different now. I can smile instead of cry - most of the time. Stay strong, but never deny yourself the pain of loss. It too has its place in your heart & soul🌹

my dad played this song all the time in the truck when i was younger and i would always break into tears at the last verse (along with failingly trying to not let my dad see how much of a crybaby i am). there was just an indescribable pain in “i’m with your ghost again” and even 7 year old me got it - i’ve never had to suffer through tragedies like the ones in the comments, god forbid, but it just goes to show how music can be used to share emotions that are so difficult to express, so much to the point where a tiny girl in her dad’s backseat can feel the same grief. today, this song, and i swear it, is the only song that gets me to cry every time. i could listen to it a hundred times in a row and those piano keys at the end will kill me everytime. it’s not every day we are blessed to hear such a beautifully crafted song in both lyrics and progression.

Our decision what to do- ME, TRUE TO HIM EVEN WITH SIN . LATER HATERS AND DEBATORS..WALKIN ON SKY YALL DARTH VADORS in shallow end wearin waders cause, you scared to swim- everybody dont know how to win but heres a hint- follow ths man that was heaven sent!! As a musician who fell in love with a woman who always had doubts even though she loved what I did and I loved her I can relate to this song. She was Always my comfort and thoughts when ever I was on the road, I couldn't wait to get back into those arms but our paths were meant to be crossed but not entwine for enough eternity cause it seemed like we were like cross roads rather than adjacent streets. I still think of her but I am glad I knew her and have my music to help me cope. I pray for all relationships and just hope someday I will find My true warm love to always come back too after those cold, lonely gigged out weather night rides on the road. Pray for me Ya'll. GB

@David rounds I understand and David, know that many people understand and thus youre not alone, though life has a way of making humanity feel alone. Time heals all. Time reveals all. And if Time fails, God will not. Give yourself time (as much as you need, as we all heal differently) and Keep your head up my brother.

I read your message. I also earn my living as a musician. It can be a lonely place sometimes. At age 70, I have met another musician and we are blessed to make music together. I hope things are going well for you, it sure isn't easy being a musician and being in a relationship.

Stupidity, ignorance, cockiness, not being able to let go of the past, trust issues, bro the lost goes on. I have the heart of a rambling man and I fucked up a relationship with a great friend and beautiful woman because of all those answers. The last 2 years of the relationship I realized that and tried to change but it was to late. One day she just walked out on me.

Not looking for attention just dumping I guess. I lost my dad as of January 2024. He was a blood born jypsey and traveled all day, everyday for his job. He was the manliest and most emotional man I have and will ever know. We fought and then separated for a long time. I knew deep down all he wanted was a phone call, but I never gave it to him. Because I was scared. He told me I would regret not talking to him and now I have every single day since. I hope he’s still rambling in heaven, and I really hope he knows I cared.

Dang. We're really sorry 😞. But you're not alone. My mother was dieing from cancer ♋️ and I walked out on her when she needed me. Now you and I have to live with the consequences of our selfish behavior. We may never forgive ourselves for this 😕 😔.

@@jameswahnee-vn5nt I don’t know your entire situation entirely. But I believe you should forgive yourself. I’m sure she would want you to think about the good things when you think about her. And not think about regret. A few weeks back I decided to forgive myself and I feel so much better. And now I live for me and for my father. I’m sorry for your loss and it’s nice that we have a similar situation. Please take care of yourself!

this song reminds me of my dad. he's been a trucker since before I was born. (I'm 32.) up until Covid he was driving back and forth between Ontario and the eastern seaboard of the USA. As a kid he would be gone for 2-3 days at a time. but now he just runs southern Ontario now. So he's home every night to go back to my mom. there was times he was stuck in colder weather in the winters.
