No no no, the only centers that did what Edey did in college all turned out to be hall of famers. The only reason why Zach Edey was projected all over the board was because of differing philosophies. Some people think post monsters have no use in the NBA with this modern NBA nonsense, and some people just look at talent for what it is...talent. Edey has the talent to have been a top 3 pick, but the philosophy of the so called 'modern NBA' ignores the obvious talent, because less teams use post players, but most of those teams don't have players with enough post talent to feature, so its a circular argument, because the rarity of skilled post monsters has a bigger role in why less teams play that way then post monsters being some suboptimal way to win in the NBA. As a Lakers fan, damn you guys, we wanted him, but I knew that the Grizzlies would be the best place for him career wise. Now teams won't be able to just shut down y'alls offense by taking away your pick n roll like we did 2 years ago when we beat y'all 4-2, because now y'all will be able to just dump it down to him, or you can even add motion offense elements like more teams are doing with their centers, like what Denver does. Now, if y'all let him cook, he's going to be another thorn in AD's side, like Jokic and Sabonis. Edey has more scoring potential and more ability to command doubles than anyone coming out of college this year, but those 'modern NBA' proponents would try to distract you from that. No one on the Grizzlies dominated college like he did. He's going to be a real scoring threat, not some 10 points a night. If you let him get touches, he could easily put up 20 a night. Who is going to stop a hook shot from someone who is 7'4??? WHO??? Hook shots are very translatable from college to the NBA, one of the most un-guardable shots, and height translates, so you add the most un-guardable shot to 7'4, and not many players can do anything about it.
