Who am I:
My name is Zach. I’m a fourth-year medical student in Philadelphia. I make videos about medical school, studying, and growth. I love trying new things and often mess up. However, every time I screw up I usually learn something. Whatever I learn I post it either on KZfaq or on my website 🌐 (zhighley.com/).
I write a weekly newsletter 💌 (zhighley.com/newsletter/) linking the best things I read, watched, and listened to that week. Join the 3,000+ that read it every Sunday morning.

I had an amazing professor who ended every lecture with the same statement, “Make it a great day, or not, the choice is yours,” He would then point at the door and we would leave. I wish I had realized how epically true that statement was and still is, we are always in control. I’ve decided to not sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff. We decide the size of the drama and anxiety things cause in our life. I’ve also dedicated myself to giving back while being mindful to those around me, volunteering wherever I can, whenever I can, because I can. I truly hope you are doing well, remain happy, the world has too much negativity in it. 😊❤

TO AMBITIOUS ONES Sometimes, the hardest thing in life is simply to take the first step. As Neil Armstrong’s famous quote goes: “it’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Just like walking on the moon, you can achieve anything once you get started. But when it ALL feels a bit overwhelming, drop everything and focus one thing after achieving success with it then attach others. *hope this save a soul, if yes, I’ve achieved a big success* I love you ::::::

If happiness was a choice, everyone would be happy all the time. No one wants to be unhappy. Yes, we can choose to try to do things that will make us happy, but sometimes it's out of our control and we can't do the things that would help us because we're just not able to. Go tell a mourning family at a funeral that their sadness is their fault and they just need to choose to be happy, and see how well that goes over.

Great work.... wisdom filled, practical and attainable. But I have a question? Why majority of young people and young professionals doesn't have strong will to do this things mentioned? I know, every good thoughts are available thru books, lectures, smart teachers, social media platforms yet progress to make a power lifestyle is very slow or sometimes no progress at all. Is there any specific reason of why people failed to adopt? Where people have to make a start up for a better life? Thank you Sir for this... I do hope that your work and passion will inspire more people most especially the young ones.

There is an ancient Persian proverb. A Sultan asked a jeweller to make him a ring with an inscription that would make him feel humble in times when he felt proud and happy when he felt sad. Knowing that if he chose wrongly he might be punished the jeweller thought hard and came up with a proverb that pleased. "And this too shall pass."

yeah ok I need to surround myself with good people, but that's the problem, where I can find them? Bro if I had opportunity to make friends I would already have them so giving "advice" like: "oh yeah find good people to be around" is pointless, like no shit men really? Ah I never ever thought about it and that was blocking me from being happy. Lol Of course I know to surround myself with people that make me happy, I'm not an idiot. The problem is HOW can I do it? And you never explain it. WHERE to meet these people? HOW to make deeper connections with them?

Hello, I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. many people don’t realize the people around them are fueling their negativity. I would suggest attending events in your area and talking to people, once you find people you vibe with you can exchange contact info and continue to meet up with them :) also if you’re in school or college you can join clubs, attend events, strike up convos, and if you work you can try to talk to those colleagues of yours. Get involved with your community, volunteer, and you can meet many interesting and positive people! Often when the organization has a positive mission you can find positive individuals. Don’t give up! Online events and communities are super good to find great friends and mentors and people to be with. You might be in different parts of the world but you can use the internet to connect! KZfaqrs often have discord Channels (esp self improvement ones) that have awesome thriving communities of positive people. Try to limit negative interactions with others as much as possible in your daily life… And make sure your physical health is all good, or be aware of any possible physical health factors that may be contributing to your sadness and negativity. Wishing you the best!

@@sparklinglemon-limepop8442 ". I would suggest attending events in your area and talking to people" there are no events in my area. I live in a 1k population shithole. "also if you’re in school or college you can join clubs, attend events, strike up convos" Clubs? I'm not in America, there is no "clubs" here. "Get involved with your community, volunteer" Again what community? I live in a tiny village. And people that live here already have their own group of friends. Yeah online is best bet, but online friends are not the same as IRL friends. Socialising in real life is much better than through internet, you need this "connection" that online doesn't give you
