I'll try this challenge, but for those who weigh 250lbs or more (I'm currently 252.9 and 43yrs old). I was training for a 10k on 9/22, but had to take 2wks off for the birth of my son. Just started running again, and I obviously love to eat (that's why I run) so I'll make be doing the challenge the week after my 10k. Warning, I'm a Cadillac, built for comfort, not speed. The inner me loves to push the outer me. I've done alot of 5k's, a few 10k's and one half-marathon (end of May this yr). Thanks for challenging each other, which has motivated me to get out there! *Disclaimer - I may only reach the 200m mark, so my video might be super short. Haha!

I watched the German TV broadcast of the Berlin Marathon where Kipchoge set the WR, and the commentary was highly entertaining. They found a /lot/ of different ways to say he was running absurdly fast in the first half, and then around the halfway mark he dropped his last pacer and freaking accelerated. Incredible run, and exhilarating even just to watch. For what it's worth, my favourite description in that commentary was "brutal schnell" - brutally fast. Entirely correct, and that was before he sped up.

That fact that he came through the finish line not looking like he was even breathing heavy or feeling any pain is crazy
@patheddles4004
@patheddles4004 4 жыл бұрын
To be fair, part of that is the fact that he runs in a kind of trance. But yeah honestly I don't think either his WR run or his successful sub-2 run were actually pushing his limit - in both cases he was comfortably on top of things and was running cautiously to make sure he didn't blow up. I look at his marathon race record, outright undefeated for however many years now, and there's just no way anyone can be that consistent in the marathon unless they're running well within their limits. That's why I'm so keen to see Kipchoge vs Bekele whenever that's finally possible - I'm confident that Kipchoge will still win, but I think Bekele is the only person in the world who's fast enough to actually push Kipchoge in the marathon. And I want to see what Kipchoge can do when he's pushed.

I wish i could reach that stage Kipchoge's already acomplished, but, in my opinion, is not only about working so hard to make it for it but genetics. Kenyan people, as Raramuri runners, they've got it because of their genetics, as swell as the evironment they've had to cop with. But still, human body doesn't have limits, it's as amazing and perfect!

That was one hell of a workout. You are such a "smooth stroker" of a runner that when you visibly struggle it's a little disconcerting. One can only imagine what you were feeling, but I think cyclists call it "bonking" when the spirit is willing but everything else has left the barn. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Charlie J-W waste of energy, maybe some 100 meter strides at 5k race pace I would keep the correct pace through mile 1.5 then give it all you got

Pace and then my acalise just freaked out and stared hurting like crap I couldn’t walk on it after the race I was doing so good I was front of the pack cause it was a jv race I went top ten on mile 2 all the way back to 60 because of that also I threw up my breakfast don’t drink milk before a run I learnt that

I'm curious how far Sage Canaday would get with this workout. In peak marathon or 10k shape I think he could do something impressive.

Hi Zach, quick question, for your Nike Matumbos, do they have removable spikes or the non removable pyramid spikes? And are they good distance spikes for track (mile and 2 mile)

I have the matumbo 3s and they have removable spikes. Prefer the victory 3s for anything under 5k though!

Same but stopped at 1200m, only because I got 10 seconds extra rest after the 800m, but you can't blame me because I'm in middle school (8th grade) with a mile pb of 4:30
