Here is an amazing film from 1975 (I think), featuring an EMS Synthi 100
"An electronic music composer working late one night is considered obsolete by the Synthi100 electronic music synthesizer"
ENJOY 😉 😋
UPDATE:
I got in touch with Tom Popielski (the actor / film maker) and he said this: "I made this film back in 1975 while a student at Indiana University studying electronic music and working for a multi media production company. Only two 16mm prints were made, one I donated to the local public library and the other I hung on to. This Synthi 100 was originally purchased by Indiana University then sold when the electronic music professor along with a few others started a multi media production company named i.e.inc. in South Bend, Indiana. As a student I started working for the company which produced multi projector slide shows with original music which was popular during that time. After several years he and the original partners left the company to pursue other interests. I stayed on for a while but with all of the creative talent gone it was time for me to move on. The company was then run by the only remaining partner who was a writer with not much business sense and shortly after that went out of business. The building where the company and studio were located has since been torn down. I don't know where any of the equipment including the Synthi 100 ended up as I had left the area"

"We had access to too much money, too much equipment, and little by little, we went insane" 😂 Amazing machine. Amazing film. We can only imagine what it must have been like to be there. Thanks a lot for sharing!

This is not only a nice presentation of the Synthi 100 but a wonderfully realized film. The cinematography is quite beautiful and it stands up as a piece that blends documentary film making and dramatic commentary on art and technology that still has relevance. Thank you of preserving this film.

Weird. This was an amazing machine that was decades ahead of its time. Only comparatively recently have composers understood how to get the best out of it - thank goodness there are still working examples around. I mean, this 1970s synthesizer contained an 8-bit minicomputer!

Brilliant 👏. The tones do not irritate the ear even when played sustained up high. Digital will irritate after a short time. Brilliant short documentary 👏 again.

1:36 This is actually the late ‘70s porn spoof of The Seventh Seal where a young Ron Jeremy plays Battleship vs. the reactor console at Three Mile Island. It fell into obscurity after Milton Bradley filed an injunction.

If you want to hear Synthi 100 in a full glory, try to listen this album with various films music! I meet them personally - Edward Artemiev (composer, who is sadly passed away December 2022..) and Yuri Bogdanov (Synthi 100 operator and Boomerang group leader): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbWcf6ZjytDDj6c.html

I would characterize sound of this amazing machine (Synthi 100) in some of this album's compositions as a 'DEEP COSMOS'!) Some great vintage synths can bring you a cosmic sound, but Synthi 100 is just another sonic universe!

@@memetunestudio Hi Benge! It's defenitely the Edward Artemiev's - "Moods" album, noted in my link above, where all music (except live orchestra and band) is sourced from Synthi-100! The machine lived from the beginning of 70's till 90's in The Moscow Experimental Studio of Electronic Music, and more than 200 Soviet films and child animation films contains sound tracks exclusively created on Synthi-100. As for additional interesting music tracks made on it, I can share the links in a couple of days..

Another good example of Synthi 100 sonic capabilities is Soviet animation film "The box with secret" (1976). All music, sound FXs, metallic sounds, etc. (during the little boy observation inside the box) are sourced from Synthi 100 machine! Enjoy!): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJ-fgcdpususcok.html
