I only pluck my eyelashes (with my fingers) sometimes. It's only when my eye feels like it's being irritated by them. Plus, since it's only the weaker ones that are able to actually get plucked, my eyelashes are still pretty good.

You can scratch them (to the side, I feel like scratching them vertically feels weird) I feel like scratching them is equally effective and more safe Also, it seems that what makes them weak is the plucking itself (I’m not a medic, in fact, I pluck eyelashes myself, which I hope I stop doing now)

to the ppl who r asking "who would actually pluck their eyelashes" personally, I do it from anxiety. well I did. sometimes i still do. I had such bad axitey I started to develop a disorder where I would pluck all my eye brow hairs, some eyelashes, and even some of my just normal hair. This may not be the cause for everyone but is for me.

@@immaisuradze before I plucked my eye lashes I started with my scalp back in middle school and I’d have bald spots, I even gave myself a hairline at one point which was funny as well cause it didn’t even look that bad. With the eye lashes tho it hurts at first but then after doing it so much you just get used to it and become numb to the pain. at some point it feels good but not because you like the pain but you like the relief you feel after plucking the eyelash out. When you have tricho you feel a disturbance in an area similar to an itch and you want to do whatever you can to get rid of that. Thankfully I haven’t plucked for years now so my case is better than most. There’s people who go years to decades with this mental illness and end up being bald in their scalps eyes and faces for men

For all of those wondering why someone would pluck their eyelashes: there could be many things going on but the first thing that came to mind is trichotillomania, a case of OCD where people pluck their hair/eyebrows/eyelashes as a way to soothe themselves.

@@snek3gg Respectfully, I don’t think they’re alike at all or would see how they would be mixed up together. “Trichotillomania” is more “Dopamine regulation” and they don’t have any “intrusive thoughts” as you said, nor do they have that “annoyance” feeling simply because of the pattern. People often do it for stress, boredom, or etc. However, people with OCD can’t control themselves at all when it comes to such behavior and don’t even realize what they’re doing

I started plucking my eyelashes out when i was 13, 22 now. Got so bad, I'd start actually ripping skin and bleed. Started when i was being abused. Found out i have trichotillmania. Luckily, i got it somewhat controlled and don't pull my eyelashes out as much, and they grow back pretty full, thankfully.

As a person who is pulling hair for over 9 years I agree. Hair took longer to grow and they are getting thinner and thinner... For all my trichotillomania fellows, seek help. Go to the therapy, psychologist or psychiatrist, you are pulling your hair bc of anxiety, trauma, mental pain etc. Also I recommend fidget toys to keep both hands busy, oils that help with lashes growth (2 in 1, they grow faster and lashes are too oily to pluck them by hand) and try to meditate and/or do breathing exercises when your anxiety levels are too high

When I was young, I used to pull out my eyelashes and eyebrows, especially when I was anxious (it’s a really weird habit, I know). My eyes were always super itchy and sore and my parents blamed it on hay fever 😂. Nowadays, I have finally learnt my lesson.

I have trichotillomania and it cause me to pull my lashes and any hair on my body uncontrollably. I see people in the comments making fun about plucking lashes but it is no joke and once you start it because a compulsion and you can’t stop. I do it with my eyebrows as well and it sucks because it’s practically impossible to stop. Also um your lashes will grow back.

Once I plucked all the eyelashes on my right eye. I’m glad I didn’t totally destroy the roots but it took a long time to regrow. The eyelashes are still significantly weaker and a bit shorter than the ones on my left eye. It hurt so bad the next day. It was sore like a bruise.

When I was a kid (6th-7th grade) I went through a hair-pulling phase. I plucked a bald spot on the side of my head and much of my eyebrows. However, it was plucking my eyelashes that got me to stop, Doing that caused me to develop Stys in both eyes; you never notice how often you blink until it hurts every time you do it.

I used to have this thing where I would pull out my eyelashes one by one. It was a habit and after 2 years of doing it I wouldn't notice it anymore. After 8 years of doing I realized how bad it was and started to try to break the habit. Luckily I did and healed my eyelashes. If I hadn't stopped I would have ended up with the full on hair picking disorder. Trust me if you are doing this try to stop it damges a lot and gets out of hand. For anyone curious, I’m an eyelash plucker. I have to pluck hairs from the corner or it causes huge sensory issues for me. They feel like they’re stabbing me and cause irritation from how much I rub the spots. It’s easier to just get ahead of the problem by plucking those.

In middle school i pulled out all my lashes over the course of a couple years. Found out years after stopping that the compulsion is called trichotillomania. Now my lashes have regrown and i have received random compliments on them a couple times 😊

I'm surprised no one mentioned how PAINFUL it is to do this 😭 The sting is VICIOUS. I've only plucked my eyelashes that were dropping wayyyy too low to prevent it from falling into my eyes but it's not an everyday thing. Yet when I do do this... unforgiving, so painful sometimes LOL

since i have OCD (which is like anxiety) , i have experienced this. Its a coping or relieving mechanism after stressful thoughts. It doesnt hurt that much and other people pluck their hair or bite their nails.
