I’m Brazilian and this is a common story told in the town my mom grew up in. It’s to teach the kids to chase their dreams but to always keep them safe. My mom would always tell me this as well she would say “You can chase your dreams no matter what they are. But if they’re dangerous or something you know can hurt you, don’t chase it but rather keep it as an inspiration or a reminder. Allow it to inspire you to do something better or to inspire others! Allow it to remind you that even if you want something, getting it or achieving that dream, isn’t always a good thing.”

Just to make it clear: Adelir was a brazilian priest that wanted to raise money for charity in an amazing way, he had a parachute, walkie talkie, his seat had inflatable pads that could also save him if he landed in the water, they could use a GPS but it was 2008 and internet wasnt that good still. The winds flew him off the coast and onto the brazilian ocean, they tried to look for him but no traces of him until one day they found the lower half of his body near an oil rig, he was likely eaten by a sea creature like a shark or something. A man with good intentions, not enough preparation and bad conditions. May he rest in peace and i hope his family is okay. I'm brazilian and this story really touches my heart, not going to lie. We've lost many brazilian legends in the past, Adelir was one of the unfortunate ones aswell. I guess it was his time to go to heaven with God and Allah.
