Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games kzfaq.infoUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

Sayan Bhattacharya Rotties are on a whole nother level of breed . Rotties were bred as guard dogs . A rottie will kill anything in it's path just for you . It's important to socialize them to dogs and humans. They are really powerful dogs , you can get one but there's more responsibility in them .

A week ago I got a 45 days old labrador and searched for puppy training videos. I find your videos so different from other trainers and much more friendly to the dogs.Your way is unique and I try my best to follow your guidance and make my puppy think and learn. We still got a problem with mouthing but I believe with patience and consequence we will make it. I'd love to see a video from you about the dog's health care (vaccines, bathing frequency, nail clipping etc). Love your work, greetings from Greece!

Zak, I am a father of 4 and finally got our first puppy 1 week ago. I stumbled on your Vlog and book. It has literally been 1 week and with your amazing book and guidance, she can already leave-it, sit, stay, shake and come and out. She is now acclimated to her crate and even goes in on her own from time to time. She is a red goldendoodle named Kennedy and your assistance has been invaluable. Now if we can just work on the occasional accident we will be good to go!

For about 4 years have been doing research trying to convince my Grandma to let me have a dog and now finally I’m 14 years old and getting my first dog. Also for about 4 years have been wanting to be a dog trainer I love teaching my friends dogs new tricks and learning how to communicate with these amazing animals. It also helps that I’m homeschooled so I will be around all the time. Thank you for making amazing videos, hope to meet you one day dog trainer to dog trainer.

I appreciate this video. My step-father brought home a 13 week old male rottie a few years ago, My sister & I took on training him and things were going very well. He would get kind of pushy as he got older but we had corrected it enough times, he grew out of being a jerk. He was our little 'brother'. He'd even protect our cats from everything. Even the glare from our glass doors lol. Fast forward, I moved out, my sister isn't home often and my parents spoiled and 'de-trained' him. They reward him when he does bad. When he shows aggression? he is praised, when he grabs something thats not his? he is given a treat- HE challenges everyone and isn't a worst case scenario but It hurt and made me angry to see my efforts all for nothing. I love him still, but I can continually retrain him, I correct him when I am home and he listens but it's like when I or my sister leave the room he becomes a jerk-- Thing is; I can't train my parents. Rottweilers are so majestic, it just takes a moron to screw it up.

This just makes me want my rottie to grow up already, I have a 8 weeks old puppy and he is so annoying, he just tries to eat everything on the ground outside and bites everything inside the house

@@shonkoren3773 dogs don't naturally grow out of bad habits. They only improve with a lot of good training, and since you clicked on this video I can also assume that's what you're doing. Keep up with the training ^^

8 week old puppys aren't "aggressive". every litter has a high energy pup or two along with some mellowed ones . he is a puppy who play bites because a ton of toys are being tossed in front of his face.

Zak this Rott reminds me of my 3 month Newfoundland. I call her a tornado. My previous Newfie died at the age of 15 that's just 2 months ago and she was a darling. A contrary to my 3 month Newfie. All training had to be stopped immediately cos she underwent operations on both hind legs last week. I've had 45 dogs up to my 68 years and this is the last puppy I'll ever get and I had to get a "terror" at this old age of mine. Your videos are so helpful and full of entertainment. Love it. Wish you came to France. Thanks for sharing and caring. Your fan from France.

Huh. I LOVED watching Zak work with this puppy - but also, wow: That pup looks like he's going to need hard work if he's going to end up happy, sweet-tempered and dependable. Wouldn't his reaction to being pet and handled be something of a red flag, at least for someone looking for an easy-to-rear family mut? (BTW I don't mean Rotties generally but this particular critter.)

I agree. Regardless of breed, any reputable dog breeder will make sure their puppies are comfortable with being touched and handled by people, before they go home :/ luckily, this one is still young so he can still be socialized

This puppy is actually a great puppy. It will grow up to be a great dog without needing any more extra training than usual

Yeah. Since he will most likely grow up to be huge, he needs to learn to be 'obedient' and quick to listen otherwise he will grow up to injure someone (whether voluntarily or involuntarily)

Hey Zak please help me.I got my puppy 3 weeks ago and she learned sit immediately. BUT she only sits when I have treats in my hand/something she wants. What should I do? The main problem is that I've been trying to teach her down and paw for 2 weeks and every time she does it correctly the next time she just stares and I have to go very slow because she isn't interested in any treats or toys when it comes to training. It's just frustrating that she just doesn't get it after 2 weeks, what am I doing wrong? She just doesn't want to learn "down". When I have the treat on the floor she just lick it but wont lie down no matter how slow i go. Please help what can i do? Also i tought her stay but same thing she will listen when she wants to. Well I think she is that stubborn because she is a French bulldog. Thank you for all your videos I have been watching them for YEARS and now I can finally use them as I have my puppy :)

Marie Say "down" (or whatever command you choose) and hold the treat in your hand on the ground. She will try to lick it out of your hand but don't let her. As she tries to get at the treat, eventually, she will lay down to get a better angle at it. When that happens, give her the treat. Repeat this process until she lays down naturally to get at the treat. Then you can start moving your hand off the ground. Also, don't worry about getting your dog off of treat training right away (what you were saying about her "sit" training). Carry a baggy of treats with you whenever you're around your dog. Use them a lot. Once she has all of her commands down properly, you can start weaning her off of getting treats every time. Your best bet at that point is to treat randomly when she executes a command. That way, she never knows exactly when she's going to get a treat, so she's more likely to do as she's told (just in case). Again though, that's only after she knows her commands well. I hope that helps.

It took my high drive Border Collie 4 months to do a proper down without treats, while we practiced about 45 minutes a day. Don't worry about your pup not listening without treats, it's just a puppy. Give her time and keep investing time and she will learn it eventually. It is normal for little pups to only work for treats, after a while you will slowly see them listening without treats. It starts with sit and look at me, and eventualy (think in months and months of practice) they will do about anything you ask from them. Don't worry, you are doing great! And sleep yourself, having a young puppy is a very stressfull and if you are well rested your pup will learn a lot quicker and you will have a lot more fun!

Marie it takes months to years for dogs based on their drive and intelligence to learn commands effectively, 2 weeks is just the start. 🤣🤣 They start learning really fast after 4 months of age.
